Lovely video, so wonderful to see young people embracing this type of lifestyle! Those bagels look amazing and I bet they tasted wonderful. They are not "ugly" on the outside but rather they have "character" and as life often shows us, it's what's inside that counts!!
It’s kinda nostalgic watching people talk about living off grid and stuff nowadays when that was a normal in WV growing up very admirable though that some of the younger people are actually interested or living with less already I hope more people get into you definitely learn to appreciate more. I just got so excited when I saw your washing machine 🤣 I have the same one, I love it. I’m not off grid but I don’t have a septic or a true washing machine so I found that one from watching Simple Living Alaska and I’m so happy with it. We’re doing a septic this year though, finally going to get a real indoor shower and get rid of the outhouse and composting toilet but we live here full time
That’s awesome! We also saw it on their channel. Sounds like you have a good set up ! A septic will be a great addition! FYI, We don’t live at the cabin, it’s currently just our get away spot until we get some land somewhere and build our own off-grid set up. That’s the plan anyways!

Sometimes it seems like everyone who has this type of channel has a fancy or complicated way to start a fire. You do it exactly the way my Grandpa taught me to do it. And man, do I remember that shovel and ash bucket😆
There is nothing wrong with how you make your bagels but I learned a way to shape them that is easy and makes them more uniform. Joshua Weissmans channel has a How To Make New York Style Bagels vid and at just after the 3 minute mark, he shows a technique for forming the dough into a ball quickly and easily which he sets aside to proof. He later simply perforates the center, smooths it, and finishes it like you do. Homemade bagels give great opportunities for creativity and customization and you may be making them exactly how you desire them. Its cool and does not have to change.
