    Please kill the music. Or at least turn down the volume. It’s distracting. Great content but the music was overpowering

    • @mossadon
      @mossadon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Men build camps...then leave to hunt and be wild and free, as you say.....to then come home with their bounty to eat and rest.
      THAT is the deep down, in yer DNA, essence of Man.
      I have a knackered shoulder and a neck spinal injury and i still have to go and be free out there and the positivity of that overcomes the yearly increase in discomfort.
      Man must Men
      As Men must be Man.
      Manly Men doing Manly things....with other Men.

      We would have gone down 3 ft but with all the bolder rock under the thin clay layer we thought it would attract water to actually pool under and around the piers and we would be worst off there is almost no soil or organic matter under the footings mostly rock. We will see but we have constructed the beams and all that to be jacked and shimmed if need be. An auger never would have drilled down through the rocks and we would have had to excivate a huge area for one post of concrete to go down that far. We have had lots of comments on it and the short answer is we will see.there has been thousands of cabins constructed in this way that have had minimal movement. And our thoughts were that excavation holes that deep and wide then backfilled would be less lateral support on the Piers and also promote giant pools of water around the bolder rock and clay under that. Thanks for watching and the comment!

    Shouldn’t your minimum footer depth be at least 3 m in Canada?

    Is it really hard in Ontario to buy a land ?
    In Quebec it's almost impossible, before 2013 you could lease a little part to build a hunting camp, but since then you can't, you can only buy as camp that someone is selling, and price are crazy for a land that is not your (it's a lease). Only way to build something in the middle of the woods without fear of it being burn down by the governement is if you are native

      It's bad but big nets help. And also when your moving and doing things you don't focus on how bad they really are. At first it can turn any person crazy but then you realize it's just a part of it all

      Ya for sure funny you say that little rounded corners of the timbers I chainsaw milled from last year had boring hole in the edges. All the other timbers with bark on them was cut 2 weeks before they landed on the mill. Lessons learned !

      @@Hboysoutdoors If the mosquitos are getting the better of you, pick up a few bottles of the Original Listerine and a spray bottle, to the Listerine add 4 or 5 drops of Dawn or Sunlight Dish Soap and spray all over the area, especially around lying water. It will kill the Larvae and drop the shear numbers way down other than those that blow in. May have to do it a few times up there over the season, but will make it bearable to exposed skin

    Why aren’t the footings below the frost line?

    • @Hboysoutdoors
      @Hboysoutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The organic matter on the top layer is thin then under it is bolder rock and clay. No auger we get will drill it and if we mini ex holes and back fill around tubes we are pretty sure they would get standing water around and under and pool around the piers so we decided this was the route to take seeing as it was the most logical but we may find out we are wrong. That's what this is all about for us learning trying and failing is apart of it. So we will see how it turns out but we are leaving it floating so we can shim it if it does shift or lift. Good question though thanks for watching
