    I'm an on site IT Support Engineer, so most of my issues I will just walk over or I know that it's the correct person. From a security point of view, what precautions do you take to ensure that the person that you are talking to is actually who they say they are?

      You can look them up in the company directory if not familiar with them. Should be able to do with their name, work phone number, login ID. Sometimes you can find that you don't support them at all if you are on site...
      If they submitted a ticket... well, the only way to submit a ticket is to be an employee so that's that.

      @@Cobuman These sounds like options that I would likely try. I just wanted to double check. Thanks 😊

    Hey sir, I just love your all videos !!! But i have one question related to VPN Password reset.
    For example, if i am connecting with VPN and suddenly my VPN password will expired then do i need to request to help desk person to reset my temp. passoword and then i will be able to connecting to VPN and then can i change my VPN password itself or do i need to take help desk person help for VPN password reset. Pls sir guide on urgency........... Thanks in Advance .... Lots of Love from India.

      If your password expires while connected to VPN you would just change it as normal. The issue comes up when someone's password expires while not on VPN which disables the account.
      What I see a lot is password expires over the weekend when user is not scheduled to work.

    So if they can't connect to VPN first, set their permanent password by unchecking the "user must change password at next logon" box? Or do we simply unlock them in this scenario?
    Thanks!

    • @Cobuman
      @Cobuman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chances are, they need unlock only, but AD will tell you if that's the case. Don't change their password at all... unless VPN is working.
      If you change password and VPN not working (no domain) it will not work because there is no network access.
      *There is a situation in which you can change their password when they are not on VPN but they have to logged in to PC using the old password.*
      Solution is the give them permanent password but that does go against security policy in most cases (so keep that in mind).

    Hi Ervin. What if the user is not connected to VPN and they also can’t login to their PC(forgot password)? Would they have to take their computer back to the office?

    • @Cobuman
      @Cobuman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Janelle. Yeah, they will need to take it back so it can connect to the network (domain) to update the password. Help Desk will probably reset password after they arrive at the office location so they can test it. Some computer setups will allow for network/wifi and then VPN connection before you login to Windows... but chances are slim...

      @@Cobuman Ah okay got it thank you!! One more question: In the video's scenario, after you give the user the permanent password, do they have to log off and log back into the PC before they can sign into the VPN? So that the new password can take effect? Or are they able to just sign into the VPN right away after you change their password on AD?

    • @Cobuman
      @Cobuman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@janelle9879 np. They need to sign in to VPN first. Then have user lock the computer and unlock it with the new password.
