They weren’t shit, they were cars from the 60’s and 70’s. Cars back then weren’t as well made as today, that’s especially true for Italian cars. Those cars were more about being pieces of jewelry or art rather than a mass produced machine built for reliability. When Volkswagen bought Lamborghini in the late 90’s, they significantly improved the quality but at the cost of a part of their identity.
Prakrit Biswas I agree for both of your statements. Believe or not but my favorite Ferrari of all time isn’t the La Ferrari nor the 250 Gto, it’s the 348. Yes the poor man’s Ferrari. Maybe these cars appeal to me because I’m also in my early twenties but I really believe they’re worth it. And yes Volkswagen made the Lamborghini brand looks kinda bland imo. They’re overly aggressive and fast I got it, but in the same way I don’t really care for these cars.
Prakrit Biswas I can’t agree more, although there’s definitely a marketing reason to start making hybrid hypercars, it also nullifies most of the things that make a supercar/ hypercar interesting and exciting. Since the 488, I just don’t care anymore about these cars. I would rather own an older supercar rather than these ones. That being said, I recently drove a 458 and it was pretty disappointing to be fair. It wasn’t as raw and connected to the road as I thought I would be. Also, am I the only person that thinks most of the cars now kinda look childish and way too aggressive looking ? They look like toys.
Prakrit Biswas I think the mid 2000’s up to 2014-15 were the last few years of great looking cars. The race to efficiency is sure important but it’s useless for any high performance car. I would rather own a Caterham or built a project car these days than owning a modern sport car.
Me too. I have always wanted an early '80's Countach painted red with silver aluminum factory wheels, black interior and of course the rear spoiler. Also love the look and the fact it is carbed with 6 dual Webers and not injected. With all that said, I would turn it into a Transformers Generation 1 Autobot Sideswipe.
For the Karma, I'm pretty sure EV's were required to make a specific noise to let distracted pedestrians know that it was close, because there are two speakers on the rear bumper

It presents a large frontal area to the oncoming airstream, which pretty much tosses the drag coefficient into the bin. You can also factor in that the original body style didn't exactly help much with keeping a big V12 cool, which is why the scoops and slats and other accoutrements put in an appearance on later models. Item two. The Vector W8 can be summed up in one word - *overreach* . The W8 was an attempt to build a Bugatti Veyron two decades before the technology existed to realise the vision, and without the colossal financial input Volkswagen could throw at the Veyron project. It's actually a testament to the skill of Weigert and his team, that they achieved what they did with the shoestring budget at their disposal. Yes, there are aspects of the car that are ludicrous, such as having a three-speed auto transmission in a car that *should* have had a five-speed manual, possibly with a sequential shifter to add to the "spaceship" aspect of the car, and the rear styling tells you where the money run out, though producing a *stylish* rear end that still provided efficient cooling for a twin turbo V8 would have eaten up a lot of money to develop. But you can't fault Weigert's dedication to his dream. By the way, if you want a cool car that's genuinely terrible, try the Brutus Bomber. A 1930s style single seat car powered by a Heinkel bomber engine, that spits flames out of the exhaust into your face when you start it up.

Ok. The Countach WAS INDEED the fastest car sold in the US for something like 18 straight years. And Jay Leno, who drove one as his daily driver for years, reports that it was amazingly reliable.
The DeLorean has a short list of parts such as the fuel pump, clutch line, and alternator that are cheap to replace that make it fun, reliable, safe, and economical. And the car weighs less than 2800 lb (1270 kg,) so the myth of the heavy stainless is nothing more than that.
Not to mention that the new DMC has an upgrade kit for the engine that brings it up to around 200hp from 135-ish.. and a suspension upgrade to correct the idiotic North American stance.
@@PixelmechanicYYZ Basically, the DMC12 was *ALMOST* an excellent car. So close, in fact, you can turn it into one with a little knowhow and a decent parts & labor budget.
"reliable" no. "safe" no. Yes, you can replace the parts easily, but I'd rather not replace anything and just have the car actually work. And it doesn't matter that the car is light, because the handling sucks regardless of the weight.
"Stainless steel body made the DeLorean way too heavy for a sports car"... ah shit, here we go again...it's 2718 lb (1233Kg)... educate yourself before talking. It lacked power, that's right but weight was never an issue.
@@TopCarsTV the 924 is about that weight in its lowest config. Add the features a dmc12 had, you are around 1150+. Still lighter, but then again its Not the same segment. A 928 was somewhere between 1450-1600, a C4 1450... like I said, the car might have been underpowered among its competitiors but it was never too heavy.
Just jerry-rig a turbo to it, problem solved. My 2000 VW "New" Beetle weighs in at about 2900lbs I think(the thing is built like a little tank, it's safer than a lot of larger cars-minus the horrible blind spots the A pillars cause) and has a 150hp turbocharged 1.8L engine and 5-spd manual....and will do 0-60mph almost 2 seconds faster than the DMC Delorean. It might actually reach 88mph in a large mall parking lot.
@@nyisziati The engine was simply too big for the chassis and combined with front wheel drive, not so strong brakes It was hard to drive. It was definitely a good looking car and the interiors were gorgeous, but with the 165hp 4 cylinders Thema Turbo you got the same results with a lower expense
Anyone who has ever actually laid their hands on a Lamborghini Countach for any length of time, will tell you that it's an opera on wheels. Drama with a capital D. The car decides what it wants from you, right down to your anatomical construction, contains "features" that would NEVER be tolerated in anything other than an Italian sports car, and has maintenance costs on a par with an aircraft carrier. But, on the plus side, if you ever have the good fortune to cut loose with one on a racetrack, you know why it's desirable. It provided the closest you could get to racing car dynamics in a street legal vehicle (but at a PRICE ...) and when it's on full song, you don't need Viagra to get hard. It's the automotive equivalent of the fiery Italian bombshell you met on a holiday in Tuscany, who taught you things you didn't think were physically possible in bed, but who also throws knives at you when PMS hits. Drive this car with skill, and it's awesome to behold. Drive this car WITHOUT skill, and it will probably kill you. That's because there's no gradual build up to hitting the bad parts of the envelope - what happens is you find out the hard way you've entered said bad parts, because they appear as if a switch has been thrown. In short, it's pure automotive porn, but you'd better spend a good decade or so learning to drive lesser machinery well before taking it on.
That's some real bullshit. The Countach is dangerous if you drive it without skill, and it's got speed. Those are the only two similarities between it and a track car. This is some fantasy advertisement shit you're spewing. The same shit they spewed.
Final 3 cars: 1st: Lancia Thema with Ferrari engine (my father had one and I ruined its engine when the timing belt broke) 2nd: Chrysler 300 rd: Vector W8.
Especially when it was supposed to have a V8 and then a powerful V6 and finally a downgraded PRV, not a bad engine but with poor reliability but at least powerful (for its time) even in its sedan versions (Renault 25, Peugeot 605, Citroen XM...), its power was 160-180hp and 270-300hp (Alpine, Safrane biturbo) and 400hp on the Venturi GT ... Why only 130 in the DMC 12 ? Fun, in BTTF, they had to create a fake dashboard because the original stopped at 85mph ... and use the engine noise of a Porsche 928.
1 more: 80s sports Toyotas ae86: gap(ed) machine mr2: suicide on wheels celica: wow, such sport celica xx/supra: good car, until what's this!? (forgotten middle child of supra causing it to have no aftermarket parts) Tercel: *I almost forgot to put this on the list*
Fun fact:Most people can’t read the title by Terrible in terms of low hp aerodynamics and stuff like that. Not “oooo he’s hating on my favourite cars”People have opinions and why not just accept instead of being a narcissist???
The Maserati TC looks like the LeBaron because it was supposed to come out before the LeBaron. The goal was for the TC to be a halo car. People would see a TC, before the restyled LeBaron was released. They would then flock to dealerships and if they could afford a TC they'd buy one, if not they'd buy a Lebaron. Unfortunately, production problems delayed the car until AFTER the restyled LeBaron was released. Instead of seeing TCs and buying Lebarons, consumers saw the two cars next to each other and asked "Why should I buy a TC? It looks like a Lebaron, has the same drivetrain, two less seats, and it's more expensive than the LeBaron "
Most of us know that Delorean was inferior. Certain cars here seem to be overpriced, then oil crisis caused most of the cars in that era to suck at performing.
The Delorean DMC-12 isn't actually as bad as everyone paints it to be. It definitely easn't heavy, weighing only 1300kg (2700lbs). Yes, it didn't have amazing power, sitting at 170hp, but torque was better at about 210lb/ft. At least the engine was quite reliable, with the only weak link being something to do with the vaccuum. The engine was also very common and replacement parts are abundant.
Not surprised to see the Countach. Lamborghinis have always been cool, but they also had a lot of problems until the company was acquired by Audi (yes, even the Diablo). Doesn’t change the fact that I love the old Lambos, like the Jarama, Urraco, and Espada.
Alright let’s have some fun. The DeLorean isn’t heavy at all. The whole “regulated to meet emissions standards” you just said for the king cobra was the same thing for the DeLorean (if you do some research before making a video, you’d see the European version of the cara produced around 210 horse power) and the same reason why it rides weird is because of the DOT forcing them to make it ride I believe 2 inches higher then designed. That was a last minute change they needed to make. And also they chose possibly the worst time ever to release a car because NO ONE was buying cars due to Economic problems in the early 80’s.
The Vector W8 at the end is hella cool and not bad to drive especially compared to other exotic cars of the time. While Ferraris felt like you were riding a buckboard and if you could manage to fit in a Lamborghini it would actively try to kill you the W8 had a comfortable ride, handled well, was crazy fast and the cockpit (while very odd) was more than livable. Yes they’re super super quirky but that’s what makes them so cool. Definitely not a terrible car.
The lambo Countach could have had rectangular wheels and I would still lust over it. If I had one, I would live in the garage starring at it not ever blinking. But that is just me!!! 😝
I have a 1st gen 1975 Countach, cramped noisy troublesome expensive to own.......it's my favorite car in my collection. Unless you're a total unhinged car geek you have no business owning one. It's an icon
The Delorean was underpowered but was not heavy. 2700 lbs. It was not made of Stainless Steel. It was made of fiberglass with a thin sheet of Stainless Steel covering for looks. The stainless was very difficult to keep clean though
Lamborghini Countach... the car that screams, "Let's do a few lines on my perfect angles and play some Motley Crue on full blast". Man the 80s were wild. Let's be real here, we know how awful the Countach is, but we still love it lol..
I don't understand why the mustang II gets so much hate, it practically saved the mustang. Also the chassis may have been from the pinto but it was so heavily modified that it basically was its own chassis, and the car was actually praised at the time for its handling so much so that a lot of mustang II's have been used for donor cars for their double wishbone front suspension on all kinds of ford hot rods and mustang restomods.
It's quite simple. While it was the right car at the right time, it doesn't precisely follow the Mustang formula. It's also a product of its time more than almost any other Mustang. It's association with the Pinto doesn't do its reputation any favors either. I think most importantly, it simply hasn't aged well. When looking at one you see everything wrong with the 1970's and nothing right about it. It's not the most hideous car ever made by a long shot, but it's pretty much the worst Mustang ever built.
8:18 Lamborghini: look at my new wing broo. Other cars: Ok then lets see what happens when you accelerate then. Lamborghini: *front goes brrr* Other cars: Bruh then why do you need the wing then? Lamborghini: Shut up and chant my new wings.
Sorry, the V8 that saved the Corvette was the Oldsmobile Rocket V8.... Plus Olds helped Chev fix the fiberglass fitment issues. If you don't believe me, look up the Oldsmobile F88....the car scared Chevy so they lobbied for GM to force Olds not to put it into production.... All of a sudden, the new Corvette had more chrome and a big V8 and the rest is history. Too bad, too....the Rocket had 250hp compared to the 150 in the Blue Flame, and only 195 in the 4.3L chevy V8 to come later
Totally agree on the Countach, I drove one once and it was like being inside of a solar panel that you couldn't see out of. The original car had very pure and interesting lines, but the later cars with the flairs and huge wing jumped the shark.
I had one years ago. Puke yellow and bought it for $300. It was a very reliable car, even if the power and handling were milk toast average. I expect if you rebuild one and modify the stock engine correctly, then it would be a tight little boulevard monster. I think there is a limit to what you can do with the body, but it would be a fun car to goof around in.
The Mustang King Cobra 2 had a 5.2 V8 with just about 140hp. That's crap by today's cars. 70s American cars with V8s had crap Hp stats compared to today's cars.
Man, that Chevy Corvette look-alike in Mafia 2 and 3 was a total blast to drive! Even though it's just a game, that car was seriously fast and had a real cool vibe. If my memory serves me right, it was one of the fastest rides in both games.
the dmc company did not go under because of lack of sales, it was because john delorean was not there to run the company because he was on trial at the time and the car is not heavy and is actually rather lite and john delorean wanted it to be much faster but couldn’t have it faster because of the gas shortage
It seems pretty evident this guy has not actually driven any of these cars. He's just regurgitating other source info, that in some cases are less than accurate myths about the cars.
@@johnjacob688 Lot of people here pretend to know everything about these cars and it seems they already drove it all 🙄 I'm pretty sure most of them never drove any sport car except in Gran Turismo games... "Stainless steel body made the DeLorean way too heavy for a sports car"... ah shit, here we go again...it's 2718 lb (1233Kg)... educate yourself before talking. It lacked power, that's right but weight was never an issue.
Porsche 924 - 1,080 kg (2,381 lb)
Cars those days were much lighter in general. Not many optional extras to weight them down.
@@rubonz7714 no no, this guy has a point.
That Bob and Luigi comment about the Chrysler had me in stitches

I've wanted one of those lancia's since forever!
Good eye! I only recognized the Vector.
What's the problem with the Lancia? It has fairly good acceleration, beautiful sound and there are many of them in good condition on mobile.de
@@ANDREWSAMY562 The lancia thema was a great car. The V8 one was a hell of a car
What in the fuck is wrong with you???
Michael Bienicewicz Cocaine, probably. Doesn’t matter though. They’re right.
That's some real bullshit.
The Countach is dangerous if you drive it without skill, and it's got speed.
Those are the only two similarities between it and a track car.
This is some fantasy advertisement shit you're spewing. The same shit they spewed.
Wtf
The last car with pop up headlight was the corvette c5
Countach, DMC12 and Esprit were all designed by the same guy, Giorgetto Giugiaro.
He also designed the BMW M1.
i kind of find the engine droning sound in the karma really cool for some reason
Final 3 cars: 1st: Lancia Thema with Ferrari engine (my father had one and I ruined its engine when the timing belt broke) 2nd: Chrysler 300 rd: Vector W8.
The DeLorean was also very slow. The top speed was only 140 kph. (Slow)

The American Delorean certainly was.
I think the 170 horse was in European tune. By the time it got to the states with all the required emissions crap it barely put out 140.
@@PixelmechanicYYZ It was also heavier.
Idc if the Delorean is a bad car
Its still cool and thats why i love it
The Vector W8 at the end is hella cool and not bad to drive especially compared to other exotic cars of the time.
Lmao I’ve never seen a Karma that wasn’t parked, I was not ready for that clip of the engine sound 😂😭

The lambo Countach could have had rectangular wheels and I would still lust over it. If I had one, I would live in the garage starring at it not ever blinking. But that is just me!!! 😝
That would explain the carpet in Hoovie's garage.

Lancia Thema Ferrari was the most powerful and fastest FDW car in it's time.
What the Countach does bad DOES NOT MATTER! It is just so good looking you forgive everything.
You don't understand why people hate the slowest, worst build quality, and overall missing the plot "mustang?"

Sorry, the V8 that saved the Corvette was the Oldsmobile Rocket V8.... Plus Olds helped Chev fix the fiberglass fitment issues.

All of a sudden, the new Corvette had more chrome and a big V8 and the rest is history.

I had one years ago. Puke yellow and bought it for $300. It was a very reliable car, even if the power and handling were milk toast average.
