But even then, you should probably still ask him about it first. "Hey dude, what's her face has kind of been flirting with me lately, not sure how you want me to handle it." He will know where you're coming from and let you know where he is at with it.

If the writer was this this guy's "best friend" he would understand how that might hurt him and if the other guy was his "best friend" he himself would understand it can be SUPER unfriendly to move in on a "best friend's" ex yet he himself would understand that if he was broken up with an ex for over a year and his "best friend" really like her an understanding could be reached on the matter. I've done something similar. I told my boy the next day. We are still best friends to this day and this happened 12-13 years ago. I still feel horrible about it. He understood and forgave me.
