  • Well we got a big chunk of Willow tree that I wasn't to sure on what do do with. Nothing to loose but to throw it up on the saw mill. It is just long enough to fit! Come along and lets see what it turns into!

    First time watching someone mill willow. Looks like decent stuff. Idk why more people don’t cut it up. Curious if it sells well or not. My feeling is that anything big like that will sell even if it’s not for top dollar.

      It came out better than we expected! It all sold quickly, but it was priced right 😉. Big and cheap sell!

    Cool stuff! Maybe it will check and find some character for a epoxy project!!!

      Came out alright eh! And Most likely! That’s what I say, free added character 😆

    I really like the look of that grain. Good job Reuben, I can see a lot of fun in your future with that mill. Excellent acquisition as far as I am concerned. Looking forward to many more videos in the future 👍
    Great job and I see the weather turning for the better too 😊

    Here is upstate NY, not a ton of uses for Willow. Decent firewood though. Not much for coals.

      Mostly gets trashed here too. I save some for kindling bundles and for adding in camp bundles. Nice quick bright flame…for a short while 😉

    Hi how are the Lenox blades working compared to the Vallee blades?

    • @earthandbloom
      @earthandbloom  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Lenox are much better than the blades that came with the mill. I wasn't happy with those ones.

    I got some willow that burned up for firewood. It start splitting as it dried. Hope them slabs don’t start opening up.

    • @earthandbloom
      @earthandbloom  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a good possibility, especially for the slab with the pith. I make sure to tell buyers about the chance of cracking. I never dried willow slabs so don’t know how it acts.

      @@danshouseofsmokeandoutdoor7119 Yeah, will be interesting to see if it helps being slabbed.

    Depends on the exact type of willow as to if it is worth milling or not. Weeping willow is absolutely terrible for lumber, but will have interesting grain because of how fragile and how fast the tree heals over broken limbs.

    • @earthandbloom
      @earthandbloom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah definitely not good for lumber, I’ll probably only ever slab out the biggest willow we come across. Which isn’t to often.

      @Earth and Bloom if you have the market for it, bar tops might be the best thing. Single slab tops at the bar/pub might be a new market for your stuff. Can't remember which bar/pub I was in but the bar top was amazing single width slab of wood.

      Better than I thought it would, they sold in a hurry. I think we were able to get just over $200 for that chunk of willow.
