- ⚠️ DO NOT apply to all Cantonese speaker‼️ The older generation may use these words more frequently, young people would know when to use them appropriately depending on the situation.

It is common knowledge that to learn a language, you first learn swear words. It's a universal rule.
that aunty is a major G
For this non-Chinese American, this is fascinating. I love your videos.
As a New Yorker, same this aunty might be my spirit animal
As a person who can speak Cantonese, when you said nonsense c**k sesame paste in Cantonese, I can't stop laughing 🤣🤣
It's very simple. For common Cantonese humans who are not educated in respect to their own language, these curses are simply a form of self-expression used to express frustration, shock, anger, etc. Their meanings are not entirely known by all Cantonese. For example, "Mei Gog Kwei" (American) or "Maat Tei Pho" (Cleaning lady), when these are literally translated, they're not polite at all. I still say that a language like Cantonese results in a people who are not repressed. The style of self-expression in Cantonese results in the speaker speaking their minds directly. There is very little hiding, secrets, scheming, etc. The more refined a language, the more the tendency to create pseudo-politeness. :)
Very interesting comment.
I'm intrigued thank you for your valuable input
If it's a fat guy, they call it that. If it's a fat boy, they will say the same. They will tell you eat more and get you more food if you're skinny. Or just randomly say, wow long time no see you gained some fortune? If you gained weight and they haven't seen you in a while.
But Cantonese are quick to flatter too. They will say beautiful woman or wow so smart casually too.
"Cantonese people are not repressed" ok dude.
All HK people talk like that and they are educated
😂 I know all these words because of my grandma
please write these words for me with english translation i want to learn 😊
Aunty is based
Don’t you just love her?😂😂😂💕💕💕👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
This story reminds me of an oldie but goodie, a guy named 蕭若元 talking about himself winning a 1969 cussing contest and at the end of the clip showed off a long cussing sentence: th-cam.com/video/v1nB5KG80iw/w-d-xo.html
(Born and raised in 广州,but not sure if I still qualify as 广州人 anymore!)
*she makes heavenly desserts is enough!* 💡
Ham ka Foo gwai and hap ka foo gwai mean the same literally, but also expressively different.
Cantonese is quite famous for the colourful swear words/ phrases!
I don't think it's necessarily impolite if someone swears casually - for some people, it's just part of their everyday vocabulary.
it is like using the f word in America ... just a culture (language) thing ... small issue.
most based grandma
I like Aunty,she is a gem 💎 of a human being 😅
A true poet
Haha
Ending 💀
You hear these cuss words every day in Hong Kong. It is unavoidable.
...Or should I avoid them in the first place lol
Bailu at the end?...was it in Keep Running?
The cussing aside, I want to taste that sesame paste! The last time I've eaten it was in Vietnam.
Psst, you can make your own sesame paste.
Swearing auntie is great and all, but I'm wondering how her products taste (I like sesame so I'd like to try if given the chance) 😊
I know where I'm going the next time I'm in GZ
Pretty fucking interesting
So showing Cantonese curse words is allowed on Japanese TV but not loli god requiem?
She doesn't know what a cuss word is?
From what I read in the comments and learning about Cantonese people in general; In the intended purposes like other people in other parts of the world, we know to use cuss words to curse (if in anger or frustrations, or shock) and those are often derogatory and damaging. But no, she doesn't understand that concept (the cuss words for cursing purposes only). She just uses them daily as normal expressions or to describe people or things as she knows it. Maybe we find that is somewhat vulgar, but no, the Cantonese are actually simply straightforward in their expressions and they're hard to gaslight you with how they speak that clearly 👍
To her, they’re just words
I would like to suggest you use the word curse not cuss. Cuss is American, and not used by everyone else. Similar to how they changed the word arse to ass and a few other words where they took out the r at some point due to accent differences (and illiteracy in knowing the spelling). Most people don’t know any of that and just think cuss is American slang, perhaps of the type where you change a curse word to a nonsense word or a similar but nicer word, like saying dang instead of damn, or flipping instead of fxxking. The tone of the word cuss is very American of a relaxed, folksy type. As a Dr it would be more fitting for you to use the word curse.
I’m fascinated that she doesn’t know she is cursing.
Don't damage cantonese image, cantonese did not use cuss words.
Nothing new here.
Come to think of it.. Invasion of Mandarin language is good to cleanse the people mouth of Cantonese toxic words..
they have as bard words. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandarin_Chinese_profanity it's as bad. Actually some them are way funnier. Choose your poison wisely.
