So great. Georgia Jewel is something else, and you crushed it. We veterans and volunteers are thrilled you had a great experience. Hope to see you in 2023.
I wasn't planning on running in 2023 but I really want to get the fastest time by a Florida runner (I think one person was faster than me a few years ago)...If not 2023 then 2024 for sure!
So cool that you have teleportation powers (from room to outside)! Well done my friend! What a brutal race, but you did it! Thanks for letting me "tag along" virtually ;-)
Johns Mountain I did that races. My first 50 miler ran out of water on the bottom a Johns balcony slept all the way up to the top I was done but a little break ran through that rocky section afterwards. It was great race great race directors might do the 180 next year.
Thank you for sharing your story, I truly enjoyed it. The Georgia Jewel is such a special event for me, my first ultra there, 35 and then the 50 miler. My goal is to do that 100 miler even though I’m quickly approaching 60. What you said at the end was so inspiring. Again really enjoyed your video, appreciate your positive spirit and mindset!! I look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you very much! Your words mean a lot to me, I really appreciate it. And 60 is still very young, you have plenty of time for that 100. I finished a 200 mile race recently and was almost beat by a 63 year old runner
definitely looking forward to your video, too. I ran the 35 (36.2!?!haha) for my first Ultra, and so glad to make it my inaugural effort. Also, excited to show friends and fam the journey I experienced (vicariously, thru your vid).
Thank you very much! That means a lot to me, and I'm glad you're following. I have Across Florida 200 coming up in a week so you sub-ed at the right time.
It's taken me many races to be able to remember/make myself film the whole thing. I used to be so focused that I'd forget to take pictures and videos, even when I'm walking or resting!
It's a very rewarding race. People were saying it's deceptively hard, and I think that's due to the amount of rocks on the course and the fatigue from keeping track of where your feet are! Other than that the aid stations are the best and the middle loops aren't too bad. Hope to see you run it in the future!
Great video thanks! Bet if you signed up for a race farther north in oct-nov or march-april with way less humidity and heat you would be very suprised at your time for a 100 miler. Good job!
I don't doubt it, t's incredible the difference only a few degrees heat and less humidity makes. Any suggestions on a good race? I may be looking to hit a 100 mile PR next year...
@@FeetFirstAthleticsNot sure what your best is but go north and go flat and you'll run a 22: ?? easysauce :P Just to say your PB Also would still like to see you do an Backyard Ultra Marathon if u havnt yet
@@FeetFirstAthletics Indiana trail 100 is beautiful midwest 100 in October. I've done it the past two years and really enjoyed it. it's not a flat rail to trails but but also doesn't have to much vert. Off the top of my head I think it's around 8,000 gain so it's pretty runnable but still has good verity. it's 4 25 mile loops with some beautiful lakes and top notch aid stations.
Carrie, if you did this in the lone peaks because I use a inov-8 Shoot that’s pretty similar to the lone Peak and some people were telling me that I should go with a higher stack softer shoe for the declines so I’m just curious did you use that shoe the whole time or do use something different I’m doing the 50 this year and hopefully the full course in 2025
The Speedgoat is amazing, except for the straps. I had to get some clamps to secure them because they constantly loosen up. Once I fixed that it's my main pack for ultras with aid stations under 10 miles apart. I had my phone, a small medpack, a change of socks, and a bunch of gels tucked away. I paired it with the Solomon collapsible handheld flask for some of the longer sections, because I was worried about dehydration. When that was empty I just secured it to the Speedgoat or tucked it away. Finally on the return trip I used a Salomon adv 5L, because I was unsure how much slower I'd be on the way back and wanted to be able to pack extra socks, footcare kit, food, and water. I honestly could have gotten away with just the Speedgoat, but hindsight is 20/20. I always carry too much crap for ultras and made it my mission to pack light for this one, and think I did a good job. Not having a 5lb sack weighing me down saves my legs and helped me achieve a good time for sure

I just did a 52 mile training mission in these mountains and they are no joke son. You did amazing. You inspire people too.
Thank you! I love these trails, even the millions of rocks lol.
Congratulations. Thanks for sharing your process with us.

Thank you so much for watching!
It's fun messing around with the camera, the idea came to me during a bout of Pre-Race jitters in the hotel room lol
What a performance. You are a badass, no doubt 💪💪👍🏻🏃♂️
I appreciate it, and I'm trying to be badass! It's a lot of "fake it till you make it" lol.

Great race!
Thank you very much! It was definitely memorable

Awesome! I ran the 35 and made a video of it as well. Thanks for the inspiration to venture to 100 miles.
I'll definitely check your video out! It's such an awesome race and I'm glad it's getting the attention it deserves.

Nice recap! Glad you got me there at the start. I took one picture after and that was it 🙂

Awesome job and great video!
Thank you! The kind words are much appreciated.
Phenomenal work and love the video!
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch!
Bro - great video and run!!!
Thank you! It was a tough race but I had an amazing time, and the mountains are a nice change of pace to flat Florida!
Great video, man! Really well done, hope to do this race one day myself.

Would you recommend Georgia Jewel as a 1st time 100 miler?

Wow great time and Great Video. Bad ass. How to you like the Speedgoat waist belt? or the rest of your gear

I feel like a mobile hoarder sometimes all the stuff I think I have to take with me, my overpreparedness trying to let that go
Nice! my first 100 in 2011
Awesome! Which race was it?
