Obviously this video is 2 years old but I have only just begun my rc journey and your videos, along with numerous others, have been very useful to me! Thank you sir and have a great day 😀
Hey I've watched most vids but I need to find where all the bearings are and how.to get them. I have a kit done the wheels already but none of the others yet. Stripped set screw out of one wheels though dunno how to get it out now though
There is a series on my channel of all the bearing videos. With the stripped set screw try heating it up and tapping in a torx bit. I have had luck that way before
Just bought a Kraton 6s after a long hiatus from RC. When do you recommend changing out the stock bearings and is there anything else to upgrade around the same time while gaining access. Also, do the bearings need to be lubed up when replacing or for general maintenance. Cheers!
Great tip.ive rounded my two front grub scews.looks like got to drill them out..I've got a Mojave even the servo horn screw was locktited in.had to drill that out..every screw on the car is a bitch to undo
My idea to make wheel bearings last longer is to take out the inside seal of each bearing and pack some grease in side the housing between bearings before fitting shaft.
@@bournemouthrc4371 you can use a needle to pick the seals out, repack with grease and pop the seals back in. BUT what i am saying is take seal out one side of bearing and leave it out! Fit the bearings with the seal facing outwards to stop dirt getting in. Pack grease between the bearings then fit the shaft. This is how i will be doing mine soon as them larger bearings dont last very long.
@@andrewcross1740 ahh I see makes sense, have you tried it yet? I wonder how often you would have to re grease as you would lose some out the space between bearing and shaft. I really like the idea though I may do the same👍👍
@@bournemouthrc4371 Not done it yet, but will be soon. Dont think much would be lost as the only way out is like you say between shaft and bearing which is a reasonable fit anyway. Plus you can add a shim to the bearing so there is less end float between bearings and shaft hex etc (just use the same shim you use to shim the crown wheel on the diffs) Would love to find a way of making the CVD's sealed! got rubber boots on my vkar bison and the cvd's are a good as new still!
@@andrewcross1740 I'll be interested to see how it works out keep me updated. Yea sealed CVD's makes sense, wouldn't be that hard to do either small boot and some metal rings

pro tip : watch movies at Flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.

How Did You Align Your Front Or You Just Eyeball The Front Tires?
Yes just eyeball the front tyres then do any fine adjustment via the radio
Thanks for this. BTW, what size hex driver do you need for the grub screw?
For the grub screw it's a 2.5mm hex
@@bournemouthrc4371 thanks again!
@@lloydranola no worries buddy, I'm glad they help 😁😁👍👍
Thanks for posting. I'm doing this to my V3 today. Subbed
Cheers man, I hope it helps, the 3rd in the series will be out later this week
@@bournemouthrc4371 All went well. I swapped out the bushings from the steering assembly like you demonstrated in video 2 as well. Thanks for sharing.

Ahh okay good shout, how do you re-seal them after though?

Brill, I wondered how those top and bottom ball joints came apart 👍
take the old bearings out and replace them with new ones, and then you are done its so damm easy on that car
Great vid except I stripped both my front hex screws so mission aborted
Ahh no man, how did you do that? Did you try the wd40 heated up trick? Works everytime for me
@@bournemouthrc4371 Yep, done it exactly the same as you lol, gotta smash the pins out
@@adamjackson6473 ahh man that sucks, was it a worn out hex key?
@@bournemouthrc4371 no the screws rounded off, they must use shitloads of red loctite in factory
I'll sort it when I get back to work, got a blow torch and if that don't work I'll just saw the 17mm hexes off and get new ones 😂😂
