So, 2.9 is actually one of the last official things they made, but chronologically you put it in the right place, so enjoy your little taste of the end of season 3's writing style
the IRL writing scene are Scott "KaiserNeko" Frerichs who was at the computer writing the script and does the editing for the series and you'll see his most infamous role in the show in season 3. Next is Nick "Lanipator" Landis was the guy in the dodge shirt doing coke who voices Vegeta, Piccolo, and Krillin. And finally, Curtis "Takahata101" Arnott who was lying down drinking the boxed wine who voices Nappa, Dende, Guru, a character later in season 3 you'll get to, and the man behind Hellsing Ulitmate Abridged and the voice of Alucard. Also while funny the wine joke was he did actually have a drinking problem but last I checked he's over 3 years sober, good on him. so Yeah those are the minds that brought us this series and got me into the franchise as a whole (and while they've all voiced multiple characters in the series I only mentioned the ones they are most infamous ones)
"He looks like a zombie from the Walking Dead" - and now you get why ep 31 had that very brief "TFS's The Walking Zed" joke; that was part of this actual arc that they were avoiding in favour of blowing up a tiny b-plot about Krillins girlfriend into the main focus. As others have said, they made 2.9 later (as an April Fools joke) going over the crappy Garlic Jr filler arc that they skipped as a joke in ep31. That's why it has a way sillier meta feel, with the real-life cutaways, Alucard from their other Abridged series, and Krillin saying he's "glad they skipped this the first time". As Vegeta once said - "this is so non-canon it hurts" :P
2.9 is a fun April fools joke, as it was them doing everything that goes against their usual rules. Quotes, references, fourth wall breaks, and most of the music is from the old English Dub. Also, another fun side thing that came out between seasons 2 and 3; Episode of Bardock. Not required, completely non-canon, but really fun.
So, 2.9 was made after the series was just about over. They kind of go over the Garlic Jr stuff in a movie and in ep 31, but it was too short and they had a good idea for it, so they made this.
5:19 I'm glad they pointed out the fact that those four stayed on King Kai's planet while they were dead, and not a single one of them learned the Kaio-Ken or the Spirit Bomb.
They really should have learned them so they could have been somewhat relevant later. I don't know if Toriyama forgot King Kai could teach them the Spirit Bomb and Kaioken or if he just didn't want to write that in.
Kudos for placing 2.9 in the proper order for your viewing experience. This may also be a good time to mention that you'll want to watch Hellsing Abridged when you're done with DBZA
Good Afternoon, you should know that every time Krillin uses his Solar Flare, it showed a disturbing picture in a quick frame as a running gag 😂, there were many moments that they put in the abridged show 😂
Fun fact: At 10:36, Vegeta says that he has "checked everywhere except for planet Yardrat and Vampa." The thing about those two planets is that Yardrat is actually where Goku is located at that point in the series, and Vampa is the planet where an extremely powerful saiyan known as Broly and his father, Pegasus, are currently residing. The thing is that, had Vegeta gone to either of those two planets, a lot of things would've changed, as Goku is currently busy with "something" (you'll see what soon), and Broly would very quickly become insanely powerful (in the new movie, he goes from being thrown around by a Super Saiyan Vegeta to using both Vegeta and Goku as literal gods (Super Saiyan Blue, which is basically going Super Saiyan with godly ki) as punching bags.) This Broly (the canon one) won't be shown in TeamFourStar's Dragon Ball "canon", but he plays a major role in one of the newer Dragon Ball movies. The uncanon one will eventually make it into one of TFS' movies, though.
The scene with teacher beating Gohan is based on real events, things like that were normal-like in 90's Japan. They also heavily advertised student desks, those were super multi part desks for doing homework, learing etc.
If you watch these with the subtitles on, you actually get a bit more commentary in certain scenes like Curtis in episode 2. When he voiced Parunga saying "Or maybe learn some goddamn Namekian", Curtis was actually saying "Fuck you, I'm a dragon" backwards. That's one of my favorite little tidbits from that episode. 😂
8:56 That is actually a Spice Girls reference. There was a perfomer among the British pop group called Spice Girls named "Baby Spice". Being born in the 90's I picked up on that :P I be an old man
The guy who voiced Goku has a channel. He's called masakox , and the guy who voiced vegeta is called lanipator ( his account was changed to nick Lani though) . Though you guys should know this info for whatever reason 🤷♂️
By the way the Piccolo saying "ALL OF THEM?!?!" was a reference to the last season of Dragon ball (not Z) during Goku and Piccolo's fight and after Goku got super jacked up he said something about missing all his vital points and piccolo's response was "ALL OF THEM?!?!!?"
That teacher whipping Gohan was a real thing. Basically Chi-Chi wants him to focus more and gets this tutor. She however doesn’t realize that he is whipping Gohan as a punishment for not focusing enough and when Gohan tries to explain she cuts him off. The tutor repeatedly insults Goku to Gohan calling him a deadbeat dad that abandoned them. Then infront of Chi-Chi he starts to say that Gohan’s attitude for sticking up for his dad is a negative trait from his father and he goes off on how it’s to be expected when the father is a degenerate. Basically Chi-Chi gets furious and literally throws him out of the house scaring Gohan and chasss the tutor off the property
I love how everyone was celebrating and Goku goes, "And we didn't even lose Krillin", and then he dies, soon after Piccolo gets shot, Gohan makes a dodge joke, and then Goku becomes a Super Saiyan, but not before making a squeaking sound to boot.
By the way: Nick (Lanipator), the guy who wished your dog well in the comments of a previous vid, was the one on cocaine when they made their appearance to decide on doing another dodge joke. Just FYI. :-D
So of course I'd be hard pressed to not mention the big trio of Team Four Star during the scene where they are deciding what joke to put in. Kaiser, the one at the computer, the editor and primary creator of TFS. Voicing King Kai, Zarbon, and a notable character in season 3. Lanipator, or just Lani, the secondary creator of TFS and imo the best of the team with the "cociane." Voicing Vegeta, Piccolo, and Krillin (the best trio) and finally the Canadian Patty Cake Champ himself drinking the box of wine is Taka (Takahata101), voicing the talent that is Nappa, Guru, Dende, and the main villain of Season 3. They are super talented and super awesome dudes
you guys missed the messed up picture hidden in the solar fare sequence. every solar flare in abridged has one with the exception of the first one during the sayan saga
The part where Alucard shows up is if i remember correctly is pretty much when they started working on hellsing abridged definitely worth the watch since you guys know more about Alucard now and how he should be 😂
6:24 Fun Fact: Porunga's actually saying something in reverse. He's saying "Fuck you I'm a Dragon." which is a reference Lanipator's own Abridged Series, Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged. Which you'll get a bit of a taste of later.
The neatest thing about the Garlic Jr filler arch, from a Piccolo fan perspective, is its basically the last time we see Piccolo be convincingly evil. That and he is immune to the black water mist that turns those infected into mindless violent lower demons, and which is shown to spread by breathing and biting....and he was bit like 6 times. So either extremely effective healing factor, OR since he’s a Demon King he outranks the effects. Probably both. Pity its filler.😈
7:58 you know, he (and everyone yamcha and above) is immune to bullets so it's not doing anything to him but it's still kinda fucked up in the original series, the episode with the tutor kinda cements chichi as a bad mom which is a shame, because this episode is filler, it wasn't in the source material, there you can see that while she's not the best mom she's not this, that episode frames things differently and even tho by the end of it they try to walk it back, but even as a child you watch that episode and think "there's no forgive and forget here, it feels like you are gonna do that again next week", like, iirc her issue with the tutor wasn't even the fact that he whipped gohan, on the other hand, I think it's based on something that was going on in japan around that time and I am never against social commentary even if it takes a character that you are like "well they are not good but they aren't horrible either" and semi-officially confirm that they are pretty bad
I've been watching you guys for about a year or so now, you are honestly fun to watch. There's a lot of reaction channels, but they all pause too much, they repeat themselves, their opinions are kinda.. linear? The men laugh too hard and try to hype things up, while the women are a makeup show. It's nice to see someone who doesnt OVER-do it you know? you guys are just simple and endlesly entertaining. Everytime i see you've put out another DBZ video im on it like velcro.

Yeah we had seen that it was from 2019 but trusted the community to watch it along with Kai episode 2 like had been recommended 🙂
2.9 was orignally called 3 as an april fools joke. They released the actual 2.5 and 3 later.
Isn’t the last thing they made HFIL
@@smilingpsycho5550HFIL is an original show and not an abridged dub so i wasn't really counting it
Yardrat is where Goku is during the Garlic Jr. saga, and Vampa is where DBS Broly is currently.
😁
If Vegeta had turned up on Vampa, he would have been in serious, serious trouble.
In what year this episode came? Cuz dbs broly was in 2018
@@yeagerist7706 It came out in 2019
@@seraphinaaizen6278 maybe, maybe not. remember this takes place like 20 years before super.

@@bradcarver8127 I know but that was probably the joke they were going for though
No doubt, just saying you’d put it in one big pile and then chop your lines…..I gotta go make a phone call.
Thanks for going over who was who so we can get more familiar with the brilliant team 🙂
I'd forgotten until I saw 2.9 the first time just how much of a savage Gohan was for this entire arc.
The only reason I rewatch this filler arc from time to time is because I wan't to see pre-super saiyan Gohan go off and destroy his enemy.
"He looks like a zombie from the Walking Dead" - and now you get why ep 31 had that very brief "TFS's The Walking Zed" joke; that was part of this actual arc that they were avoiding in favour of blowing up a tiny b-plot about Krillins girlfriend into the main focus.

Zarbon being reduced to "mmMMmm"s kills me every time.
😆
They actually wanted to have him do that in dbza and have no speaking lines. Clearly had to scrap it, though.
Funniest part of DBZ kai, it fuckin kills me everytime😂😂
Yeah they did an abridged series for Hellsing and… Alucard is hilarious and you will quote everything he says
We bet 😁 loved learning about his character in the Death Battle so we are looking forward to Hellsing 🤩

I think they even streamed 2.9 back in the day when it was new. it was a "trick" that it's probably the first half of cyborg arc but it wasn't.
So, 2.9 was made after the series was just about over. They kind of go over the Garlic Jr stuff in a movie and in ep 31, but it was too short and they had a good idea for it, so they made this.

Lot of hype for this season 🤩
Yardrat: where goku actually is
Vampa: where broly from the DB Super movie is
yeah just in case they planned to do the broly super movie some day, which they didn't. had to make sure Vegeta doesn't know who he is.
Kudos for placing 2.9 in the proper order for your viewing experience. This may also be a good time to mention that you'll want to watch Hellsing Abridged when you're done with DBZA
We listened to the community. Almost missed the Kai episodes because we forgot but the comments section saved us again 🥳🥳

You should definitely get that "DODGE" shirt Nick was wearing in the live-action segment of 2.9. They also have a Majestic Space Duck shirt.
I think they even had a shirt about the big guy's Desk that was made of that wood that starts with M ;)
And a _Piccoloshi's Island_ one!
Two quality shirts 🙂😀
The scene with teacher beating Gohan is based on real events, things like that were normal-like in 90's Japan.
