      Thankfully not THROUGHOUT the US. VT is still handling precautions seriously. There is pretty good "mask wearing" in public in my area and social distancing is followed in our local stores. I WISH it was nationwide. But some States aren't encouraging cautions as they reopen, so the people there are more vulnerable. The numbers reflect it.

      Can you direct me to the scientific proof and report on face masks? Can you provide the scientific data and reports on the 6 foot rule? Can you tell me if you believe in the mask then why are you not advocating for an eye shield as well.
      I have seen so many contradictions from so many scientists on all this. How long do you think this virus will go on for have they told us any solid numbers, is it 6 months, 1 year, 2 years? People are on the verge of losing everything. Mortgage defaults are through the roof and many are running out of money for food. I do believe the virus is out there but I do feel it’s bioengineered. I feel there are to many people out in the scientific community spreading false security on all this.

      A big problem in Arizona is that a lot of people carry concealed firearms, which is just fine with me. But it is a federal felony to wear a mask and carry concealed. So I can't tell if an unmasked person is an idiot or a concealed carrier trying to follow the law and avoid a felony. Concealed carriers tend to be real sticklers for the law and very process oriented, so it probably drives them nuts that they can't wear a mask.

      "We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic." - The New England Journal Of Medicine

He opened up bars and clubs knowing its impossible for people to drink with a mask on. I bet he wont go out without one especially to a bar. This is real reason texas spiked. News from Australia. I live in a suburb in Melbourne which has been declared “ a hot spot” because we have had a number of new cases in the double digits over the last week, and horror horror, over night we had 30 new cases reported. We are not to go out of our area and nobody wants to visit us. The army has been called in to deal with this calamity and more testing stations have been set up AND people will go door to door to monitor the situation. We are at the beginning of our flu season and we expect the virus to spread.... because that’s what viruses do, they spread. Maybe our Government is over reacting but, who cares. I feel safe. When I looked on TH-cam today and saw that the new cases in Florida yesterday was 3,000, it gives you a more realistic vision of what is going on. I don’t know what will be the future for us in Australia but I hope it is better than what is going on in the USA,. My heart goes out to the responsible people of America and, for the rebellious, non compliment people who scoff at the doctors.....ignorance is no excuse. They will be left to their fate. I wish the best for America. 30 new cases as opposed to 3,000.

      There are certain states where people are wilfully ignorant. They deride science and believe all kinds of conspiracy theories. Add onto that an ignorant president who was more concerned with his economy than people's lives. His ignorance and arrogance have exacerbated the pandemic tenfold. He is holding speeches and rallies, he is eager to ignore this virus away. Within the states, there are states that have done well, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have done well. Maryland, Ohio and Vermont have also done well. Its just Florida, texas, Arizona and California and a few more that are doing poorly. It's really sad to see how ignorant people can be!

    VT, USA was on the map a couple of weeks ago as "red" on the US map because we had a cluster found in a city that has a diversity in cultures (unlike most of VT,) The report of the increase was met with an immediate State response. The probable cause of the outbreak was found to be that many of them did not understand English well enough to get the information they needed on the, warnings and advice on COVID 19, so there was quite a large spread among them and their close contacts. Fortunately, this was recognised very early and addressed appropriately. Translators were dispatched, ALL cases, about 100+/-, were traced and tracked, with isolations.
    I'm so proud and grateful for their immediate response. We are back to "green" on the US Covid 19 map within a week. This outbreak has been reported to be completely contained and our new daily cases went back down to under 10 new cases/day. Over the past couple of days we are again seeing an increase in cases due to visitors coming over the border from neighboring States. This is being watched carefully.
    As of yesterday, two more outbreaks were found. One was confined to one family of about 10 persons and another in a workplace with four new cases. Both are being carefully investigated. It is inevitable that we will see more cases, but thanks to the majority of Vermonters using masks when in public, social distancing is respected and most stores have employees wearing masks with limited numbers of shoppers allowed in at one time and hand sanitizer is provided at the counter, our spread remains minimal.
    I sincerely wish other States, that are struggling with uncontrolled spread, were using these guidelines and their populations complying with them. They would be able to have the same relative safety we have, as they too go forward toward re-opening. I pray for those still at high risk of infection, because their Governors are not following the same proactive and cautious re-opening of their States, that we have here.

    • @jeninmontana
      @jeninmontana 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Montana is doing a pretty good job as well. It helps that our population is small enough & our state is large enough that distancing isn't difficult. The increase in our numbers periodically is from not so bright people thinking they're immune. I believe the last increase was due to a family reunion where someone from out of state brought it here. Immediate TTI followed & according to the latest reports, has been quarantined. We too have an amazing governor who we will unfortunately be losing due to term limits this coming November. I wish all states were able to do this, but with such large populations of uncooperative humans, they simply can't keep up - especially if people don't report their exposures or self-isolate.

As soon as PPE was distributed to nursing homes, actual covid units in my hospital were closed. And now we are in phase 2 of reopening. Just from paying attention to the science!

I understand this is difficult for any Govt. too balance infection and economy, but I feel we are not really in a position to open up like we intend to do. My main concern is my wife is classed as vulnerable and is shielding, but my concern is I will sooner than later have to go back to work, I still don't feel confidant to do so , not worried about myself if I get it well it is what it is, but Imagine i bring it home!!! and my wife catches it this concerns me deeply, I would rather lose everything than do that. Apologies for wobbly on a bit but I think we are in for a bigger threat than before.

      The US Government has failed us miserably in this pandemic. With lies, false and conflicting info coming directly from the top from the start. When we most needed strong, competent, informed Leadership, at the highest level, to take charge guiding us through, it just hasn't been there. Pretty much we have been at the mercy of our individual Governor's ability to take control of our States. In the Northeast we've been doing as well as we could have hoped to expect. My heart goes out to the places where there are "less than adequate" State leadership and the people there are suffering for it. Stay safe and healthy with best wishes from VT

And there always seem to be those people who will not follow the guidelines and wind up hurting everyone around them. You'd think by now everyone can see that Covid 19 is not the normal flu, is highly contagious, is causing a pandemic because we have no immunity to it,(unless we get it) and that it causes serious illness and death. Stay safe and healthy in CA and best wishes from VT

    I only discovered your channel yesterday! I was impressed by your layman yet bluntly clear style of presentation. I also sensed your compassion and empathy which I always think very valuable. I was even more excited and surprised by your advice on wearing a quality mask back in January (the guideline that Taiwanese and HKers were adamant about ). I have been concerned about this since Jan and felt masking is important but it’s discouraged by the gov and CDC. I thought it’s very common sense and the reasons they gave were lame. You just need to educate the public how to wear and dispose properly. All the talks about doing more harm than good was very saddening seeing so many sufferings and lives could’ve been saved. Now it’s still so hard to get people seriously about masking, particularly in US. You hardly can see people congregate especially indoors without cringing. Don’t know when they will wake up. I also just checked out the Vitamin D vid. I thought I read so much and yet this was new to me. Thank you John for your endeavors! Ps Did you get the info regarding this virus might attack on pancreatic islet cells to induce diabetes? This really is a nasty virus! )

      @@wills8705 hello Will just saw your post and hope you are feeling well. To try to answer your question, testing helps to identify areas where there could be potential outbreaks. Also, even though you might be fine, you could have unintentionally infected someone else who may not be as fortunate. In war, how can you fight an enemy that you cannot see? So with this virus, if we know where it's spreading people can take precautions, get tested if they can and hopefully keep this virus at bay till there's effective treatment or a good vaccine is developed. I live in Florida, today another 5004 positive cases. This lets me know I need to continue taking precautions when I go out especially because soooo many are not.
