1% of U.S. Americans join the Armed Forces, Air Force, is not playing, you better come ready, this is a new era of Airman. Salute to all you had the balls to join any of the Armed Forces!
and take note, the AF takes only 0.01% of all those aged 18-27 yrs old so academically they are very demanding. The AF takes only the top ASVAB scores so if there is one test you want to try and ace, this is it.
It is refreshing to see how things have changed and have become more challanging than in my day. USAF is still the best way to go! SGT Steve Todd, 18th Fighter Wing , Okinawa, Japan. 1973
This obstacle course was fun. I loved it. I wanted to go back and do it all again when I was done…I was in good shape and 18 years old. I’d been running and biking for years already. Now it’s 23 years later! I’m in even better shape, weight lifting, and I’d like to have this course in my back yard to do every day for fun. 3707th! Get some!
Update: There is a small simulated combat obstacle course which is now part of the CLAW mission which you will undergo during BEAST week. Not many obstacles (stream crossing, strike dummies, high and low crawls, defensive position walls, fighting techniques) but you must wear full combat gear, helmet, M-16, and two canteens.
I ran this course in 1966 and was pretty much the same except no pipes to crawl thru but we were on our backs crawling under barber wire with blasting caps going off next to us. The wall was a lot higher to get over and the gas chamber had no gas the two times we ran it so you ran in one door and out the other. No big deal and was a fun time had by all
Have fun. The best advice I can give to someone going in is to listen to your instructors, do everything with motivation, learn and live the Core Values, and remember the wingman concept.
just had my first meeting with my recruiter today, gotta lose some weight before i can go through meps but i should be doing all this shit soon. i watch all these videos and i cant wait to go through it for myself.
Your so right! I mean PJ's, CCT, TACP, Security Forces, Combat Com, SERE, EOD, and all the officer equivalents of those jobs. But your right no ground troops at all.
I remember warrior week very well. I went through in the dead of winter so we didn't cross any water obstacles. They didn't want anyone to get hypothermia. I wonder if that has changed.
some people came in who couldnt do 1 pushup, but by the end of BMT did way more than he minimum even. if you do poorly on your 1st pre-test, they give you extra PT help sessions in the evening with various exercises to help you meet the required numbers. really, you'll get loads of practice between having PT 6 days a week and hearing 'on your face' every few hours. even if you do fail the final PT eval, they send you to "get fit" program ,where you spend an extra 2 weeks or so in BMT
BMT is the easy part. A lot of people don't realize most drop outs happen during tech school. You will make it through BMT even if you get washed back there going to make you graduate. Tech school is when the shit hits the fan, depending on how hard you're job is. You HAVE to study every night.
I'm joining the army when I graduate, and I'm pretty sure this is gonna be really tough for me - but I'm gonna do it and make my family proud. Hopefully.
Also keep in mind that the main reason for BMT is to input knowledge into you, encourage leadership and team work, and examining how you cope under great deals of pressure. And I cannot stress this enough, LEARN THE REPORTING STATEMENT: "Sir/Ma'am, Trainee (Your Last Name) Reports as Ordered."
wow so im really want to be in the Air Force and right now im just a Private First Class Cadet. I was wondering if I was to enlist myself in the Air Force and got in, would the course shown be the thing we do? Because I did simmilar with a swiss knot, prepell on the wall and the zipline. I was wondering if you teach and do swiss knots? Also, what are the requirements to be enlisted in the Air Force branch and/or Air Force Acadamy?
you can start to get ready by running and doing situps/push ups right now. Talk to a recruiter and see about joining and approximately when you would leave for basic. From what I know is that they won't kick you out if you cant pass the test at first. They make you join another flight which makes you do a lot more exercises to get you into shape then you graduate with another flight.
Good luck, it's can be a really fun time, it just takes a while for the fun stuff to kick in. Congrats! And don't think that things like the obstacle course and BEAST are the only fun things that happen there. After a while, we started moving the beds in the bays so we could practice marching in our down time. The weirdest shit becomes fun out there :P Just...before you leave, know your reporting statement WELL. Good luck!
i'm not really sure if the MTI is showing you something. But during some of the classes you will take at BMT usually it is just a get up and go type thing, depends on the instructor teaching the class, and other times you just go on your own.
so on a scale 1-10 how hard is basic training? i played football for 7 years(LINEBACKER) im really considering joining the airforce, the only thing im worried about is the long runs, (not the best long distance runner)..... also wat do u do after bt?
I haven't been in real military, but I have been in high school JROTC at least one year and half... We did push-up, dips, crunch, run, exercise, and etc...a lot....Feel so exhausted...
Btw, does anyone here have any tips on doing good on the Weaver portion of the obstacle course? many people have told me its the hardest part of the course
hey im 18 just fraduated HS a month ago im interested in joining the AF only thing i have a concern for is ill go through everything and fail the PT and they will ask me to leave which would suck alot
@luzanillajr You take the end of course exam which is easy if you looked at the questions in the book. And you take your final PT Test. You finish up with parade practice drill, its the last week b4 graduation, so your flight is pollishing your drill. You've probably already at that point washed and turned your trainee weapon in as well. Wear blues most of the time too. 8th week is a breeze for the most part, coin ceremony on Thur and grad. on Friday. Monday you ship out.
hey man could you give me some info on how you lost all that weight so fast? I''m about 285 and I need to drop some serious weight i wanna get down to 225 FAST! trying to get ready for BT.

everyone in this video i trained with the course was easy except like 1 or 2 of the obsticals
its been 2 years already once you make it through this course without falling in the water you feel great i swear
Man looking back at these videos makes me laugh. You hate it when you are there. Laugh when you look back. 326!!!!
It is refreshing to see how things have changed and have become more challanging than in my day. USAF is still the best way to go! SGT Steve Todd, 18th Fighter Wing , Okinawa, Japan. 1973

Cool videos man, thanks for posting. I'll be arriving at Lackland on May 3rd, and your vids help me know what to expect.

I remember warrior week very well. I went through in the dead of winter so we didn't cross any water obstacles. They didn't want anyone to get hypothermia. I wonder if that has changed.

whats the best way to utilize the rope over the water? I have an idea of what I will do but not quite sure honestly. suggestions?
It's different for everyone, I chose to hang under it with my feet crossed over the rope and drag myself down the line.
TheUsafdirtboyz That's what I believe I'll end up doing. Thanks for the response.
Straight UP!!!!
I arrived to BMT 1 year ago tonight. Unbelievable where the time has gone and where I have gone.
6:23 - I remember when I got to these tubes, they told me if i saw any snakes or scorpions to just kick em' out of the way... Happy Times!
really they told us to to go the other way to the nearest possible exit and notify the closest instructor
yea i am pretty sure he was one of my TIs he was a ssgt when i went through, good ol' sgt conger
@bdickson92 thanks! ill be sure to keep that in mind at basic
@nickapole - I thought they said it was improved, made to be harder than before?
You need to add more BMT videos! :)
Good luck man! I went from 240lbs down to 165lbs and I go to basic in less than two weeks :)
they are moving at a snails pace, is there a timed qualification they need to get before they can graduate?
I'm joining the army when I graduate, and I'm pretty sure this is gonna be really tough for me - but I'm gonna do it and make my family proud. Hopefully.

I'm going to join soon. Trying to get my weight up first.

parkour pays off on this obstacle course
I think all you need is to do relatively well in the ASVAB (SAT for the Military). They have practice test online if you are interested.
