My group arrived at SAT from LAX around 2100 hrs. Other basic trainee recruits were already there waiting and we all had to wait for another group to arrive. Got to Lackland right before midnight and groups were dropped off at their respective squadrons, not the Reception Center. Everyone watching in 2018. Things aren’t like that at all, they probably calmed it down for the cameras. In processing was a lot more chaotic and with a lot more yelling. It happens now in a massive building that isn’t shown in this video
Thank you for saying this. When I came thru in '89, they pounced on us with a fury as soon as the bus stopped and we were up all night getting yelled at.
Hahahaha! Went through BMT February, 1974. We were NOT given food, until the next morning, at mess hall. And, we had exactly 15 minutes to get it, sit it, and eat it! And you better eat what you took! However, I was in one of the fairly new (then at least) squadrons. Our TI had bought a brand new car about 3 weeks into it. I remember he had his wife, and Mother in the car, and they parked under the building in the parking area. His Mother had a massive coronary, and passed away, right there only minutes after I'd seen them. I didn't see him again, until our last week there. We went across the road to a cantina outside the small PX there. He bought me a beer(illegal, since I was still in BT), but he's the one who bought it. I couldn't stand the Asst TI. What a f'n douchebag.

Rachael Baynes This is processing. Once they get done with processing then they are taken to their dorms where their MTIs are waiting for them. Loud mouths and all.
+Rachael Baynes It sure as heck changed from 1968! The problem is they have personnel dealing with them up front instead of TI's. Disgusting watching this thing.
+KittySN You're still joining the military. You need to be prepared for any stressful type of situation. I feel like every branch should be able to yell and, if need be, get physical with recruits. They need to be toughen up and know what it's like to be under stress they've never been through. It would make every branch equally as tough.
You get a box lunch now holy crap, my first meal was Shit on a Shingle ( chipped beef on old toast ) Crap its been 30 years for me. Kids now like with everything have it so Easy.
The people who say that about airmen are just upset that they didn't make a high enough score on the ASVAB to join the Air Force. Or its because they're a civilian who has never been in the Military.
People are afraid of SF because generally the lower asvab scores or wannabe cops get the job. I'm in the ANG and was told with my high asvab scores they wouldn't even let me consider being a cop.
wtf? I got my ass handed to me as soon as the bus stopped. Where is all the screaming. These guys had it to easy from the start. And then to see they got food...shiiiit. I wish they would have fed us.
They bring stuff there with them in bags now? When I was there, low those many years ago, we showed up with just the clothes we had on. Those were then shipped back home to mom and dad. We had nothing except what they gave, or sold, us.
Basic training has changed a lot since I went through it. Doesn't really matter though, a waste of time either way. It does serve a purpose though, I suppose.
This is how the military is supposed to be like not fucking yelling in someone Ears loud enough to make them deaf if they want to prepare them mentally for stressful shit then put them in life like simulation not the caveman way involve technology he'll nowadays the military doesn't need all that yelling and shit it's fucking old school

Its the calm at the Reception Center before the impending storm when life as you knew it comes to an end. "Hello, I'm your friendly MTI. Welcome to your humble home, which is where you are going to wish you were in about 1 minute."
LOL... I remember my cheerful welcome to Lackland.
Before the PRC era at reception
The only thing I'm worried about is not being able to smile, that's quite the task..
The TI don't meet them at reception. They meet them at the dorms
My other half just left to go to lackland for 8 1/2 weeks an I really need help with the understand of bootcamp. I do love him so much
Something's wrong lol. Where's the yelling, the picking up bags and dropping them and picking them up again?
Rachael Baynes This is processing. Once they get done with processing then they are taken to their dorms where their MTIs are waiting for them. Loud mouths and all.
+Rachael Baynes It sure as heck changed from 1968! The problem is they have personnel dealing with them up front instead of TI's. Disgusting watching this thing.
+Jim Stevens Why the need for yelling? It's the Air Force, not the Marines. There's a vast difference.
+Francesca Maria , I was a Section Supervisor with the 3711th and 03rd 87-89. I never heard any loudness. lol
+KittySN You're still joining the military. You need to be prepared for any stressful type of situation. I feel like every branch should be able to yell and, if need be, get physical with recruits. They need to be toughen up and know what it's like to be under stress they've never been through. It would make every branch equally as tough.
Reception is the only time I've been told what to do/yelled at by an A1C
Ha ha. At 4:25, this guy is chewing like its going to save his life!
What happened to " you have exactly 60 seconds to be off this bus and lined up single file!"????
That came after this.
this is like 50% people eating breakfast sandwhiches, lol, why is this a video?
If i give to for give us to woman came before so wat they steel gon feads in doe
Such a contrast with the Marines.
Wow this looks like church camp compared to marine corps boot camp
Man.. I wanna be in so bad.
Somethings just don't change , welcome to the rest of your life.
the dude at 0:09 looks excited for this lol
This is only the processing part. They haven't gotten to their respective training squadron yet. That's where the yelling starts.
Meanwhile they just tell the guard folks to hangout cause we had half our stuff done already lol
I would have ask for a vegetarian sandwich with a lightly seasoned ceasar salad and toasted garlic bread😊
We had nothing except what they gave, or sold, us.
keep these coming no one post new ones, which one were you?
Seriously they all look terrified....
hahaha
Not hardly
that shit look draining and I thought my reception was worse at fort jackson
because the air force is not as mentally and physically demanding as some of the other branches unless you are in the special forces.
Are these guys going on a cruise?? WTF??
So much different than 1988
You better enjoy that sandwich, I made it!
That guy smiling in the back lmao
I am so embarrassed to see how laxed things have become since I went through
If it makes you feel better this does not represent it very well. I think they cut out all the yelling and pt
They have a new reception center now
They started screaming and making us pickup and set down our bags as soon as.we got off the bus in 1986
wow when i went threw they were on the bus as soon as i got there!
Oh it was, I was the guy with longish hair next to him.
Oh, okay got ya.
yea as soon as we pulled up!
nothing if you like standing at the gate all day or in front of a plane for the first 2-3 years of your job
What happen to the 3-4 MTI's running out there and yelling there head off too you about getting off the bus this video makes it look like its a walk in the park
