Kev from MakingYourOwnCandles.co.uk experiments with using a Pringles tube to make a big, chunky, pillar candle. Want to learn how to make candles? - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
We made these when I was a Cub Scout back in the 70s, with the addition that the Pringles can was filled with ice cubes before the wax was poured. When the can was peeled away it left a striking Swiss cheese effect once the cubes melted away. Now that I'm looking at making candles myself that's one of the first projects I have in mind, to see if I can still do it.
just used this method with a cylindrical shortbread tube and it worked great too :)
Thank you for this video. I have just made my very first pillar candle!
Making this tomorrow! My first candle I'm so excited!
Just wanted to thank you for the video! I used this technique to make my unity candle for my wedding!!
Very nice! I never thought of using a Pringles can to make candles before! Thank you for sharing luv. ♥
I love this method! I will definitely do this for my mom for her birthday :)))
really good idea !!
Very nice candle! I'm getting back into candle making, and I have a huge 3 wick paraffin candle (almost 5 lbs!) that is just sitting and not getting any use. I may repurpose it into some pillars using this method. Thanks.
When you could get a waxed milk carton, you could fill the carton with crushed ice and pour the hot wax into the milk carton. After cooling, pour off the melted ice which is then water. You have a nice lacy candle. Should mention we used a standard ready-made taper inside for the center of the candle.
I remember making them. they were lovely
For a smaller one you can use a small pringles tube.
Top notch reuse of a pringles can.
Great idea to use Pringles cans. I have several saved actually as they make great storage for all kinds of things in my craft room. :P I would be dipping the candle again several times over so any seams left would not be visible after all that. - Heidi
I know wick is cheap but waste not want not. Great idea for using the popsicle stick with a hole in it to center the wick on the other side. I'm so gonna try that. Tfs.
Thanks for the video. Smart thinking.
The wax always dips in the middle and very important, never let the candle to set at a cool place always at room temp., it will dip in the middle still. So what you need to do is keep a bit of the top color wax so if it dips you can level it and will be the same color. enjoy.
good idea making candle
Cut up milk cartons can be used to, not plastic, the little school lunch size milk boxes or the whipping cream size or 1 quart size container of milk or half & half, etc.....
very good
wow! cool!
My candles used to do the dip thing too until I mixed some paraffin in with my soy so it has some rigidity and will stop that dip.You can also still while it is fairly soft add some more to level it out and then let it completely set up.Hope that hint helps.
Ever made a candle using lard essential oils and crayola crayons..your candle wick cut to length and metal disc weights they burn for over 80 hrs dependent on size have a very subtle scrnt throw you can intnsify the scent throw by adding more oils of your choise only use a tiny amount of crayon as they are very vivid dependent oncolour desired
Quick question: If you use the tube top or some foil or other covering, would that help sort out the dip problem with the contracting paraffin?
I love this, thank you, does anyone know if there a way you can make the sides shiny
very pretty! maybe add some fragrance to the candle and also add some pretty ribbon or a belly band. it will be so pretty you may not want to burn it. lol
well is just love it ^^
Don't worry too much about the indent Kev. I use similar tubes and call the top the bottom. I just turn the candle upside down when it comes out of the tube, nice level top.
The dip is caused when the candle cools, as the wax shrinks away from the wick, which could affect the burn as there will be less wax around the wick, in extreme cases it will put the candle out altogether, this can be cured by doing a second pour. Before the candle sets completely make some holes in the wax close to the wick, but don't go more than about 2 thirds of the way down, then pour some more hot wax into the holes, but don't go above the original pour line or it will make it hard to get out of the mould.
Jenny Fox Absolutely - hard waxes such as this always require a second pour, and often a third.
Sorry you seem to have missed my point, never mind.
I flip mine too. Then the indent in the "top" isn't even an issue because it's going to actually be the bottom of the candle. :)
nice
This is awesome. I can eat chips and then make an awesome candle. !!
Yup, two for the price of one!
Thanks for the video.which kind of dye .
hi I like watching you, how do you know what size wick to use? im so new at this and I made candles what happened they just burned down the center and left the wax at the side so I had to remelt the wax and my glass container busted in my face, please help , thanks kim
sour cream and onion :D best flavor!!!
wouldn't have thought of pringles can , gd idea =)
for a smaller one i use those holday candy piggy banks that tootsie rolls or skittles come in
Travis Baxter As long as it has a silvered interior, any tube should work well
so you do need to poke each layer for better adhesion??
What size wick did you use?
Learning New Sub to you're asume channel, so glad I found vidio. TYFS Wendy From:Kentucky.👍👍❤💚👍❤💚👍❤💚👍❤💚👍❤💚👍❤💚
Is there a way of doing it without ripping apart the Pringles so i can reuse the tube again for the next batch of Wax?
It's so cool you can make a candle out of a Pringles tube!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***** I just....can NOT deal with your negativity right now...
lol, I figured ppl would get it. I was making a joke....you were supposed to laugh...you know, haha.
What was the cost for that size candle x
How did you color the candle??
How do u get the candle to shine ????
Definitely make the top layer much lighter..maybe 4 or maybe 5 grams..so there will be a significant difference. Thanks for the vid :)
Really not bad...
what can I put instead of this gummy thing that you put on the string to avoid any wax liquid to go out the battle?
Just made a pringle candle, worked a treat until i removed the candle from the tube.Had to tear the tube to get it out but it left an unremovable film of plastic on the candle, where did i go wrong?
Wax was too hot when poured into the can.
Did you have to use mold release or did the inside of the pringles can allow you to remove the candle easily without?
No mould release needed, just tear the tube
Thank you!!
Don't clean out the Pringles can, they are slightly greasy inside and this actually helps to remove the candle once the wax hardens.
where did u get your dye from ?
www.makingyourowncandles.co.uk/candle-dye-category/
looked good to me
Will the wax stick to parchment paper?
Serena Tan no it will not stick to parchment paper or regular wax paper
how much gramm for this candle?50 you say?
just learning to make candles &am searching for any site w/tips,techniques,etc. cool idea using a pringles tube. Thanks for the idea...guess I'll have to hit the store for some. That'll kill 2 birds w/1 stone:take care of the munchies & I have a mold available for my next candle.
What is that stuff called you used to fix the wick on the bottom of the can?
Masking tape
+makedaevilmage it seams like mold sealer you can get it at craft stores amazon or on any other candle supply site
+makedaevilmage Blue tack..nothing flash, blue tack does the trick.
thank you!!
Can use plumbers mate
How much can you sell that for?
Diwash1 not that much. Its dependant on the dye used and any embellishments you've placed. A plain red pillar candle cam sell for perhaps...$5.00
what kind of dye is he using?
Brittney B wax dye
is it possible to use soda cans??
Yes, it is!
I thought putting them in the freezer cracks the wax? How did you avoid that?
was the fridge! cools slower and in the freezer it would expand and contract when taken out
tried it in the fridge once before and the same thing happened - now I just try to be patient and that works best :P
TheBoarderBrothers
i'm a girl and i use a drill
Good for you! My point was that I was childishly using a drill when I could just as well have used a skewer.
There is a big, big different in saying that to what you said originally.
any ways thank for the video it is good
+sigalit yeller I'm telling you what I meant by that remark. I said "I'm using a drill because I'm a boy" - in other words, a juvenile. If you choose to interpret perfectly innocent remarks as if they were deliberate sexism then that's your problem - it doesn't make you right.
omg people can't make a freaking joke without other people trying to find reasons to be offended. Ugh chill out!
omg i didn't asked your opinion.
Ugh chill out!
big dynamite

Wasting wick😢
