I may be using terms wrong but it feels like the original uses this moment for a crescendo, where the scene reaches a climax (the whole movie reaches climax at that point imo) and it works so well. However in this version it was more of a decrescendo and I feel it would have worked in the movie as well, where the crushing silence of space takes over as this impossible maneuver is performed, saving humanity.
