I think the LA320 feels a bit like it has a "loudness curve", you know, sort of bass and treble boost. But very often, that's the kind if EQing you'll be doing anyway to make a vocal pop out the right way, so it does seem like a good match with your voice in this "reading some text" kind of situation. I also agree that the GT57 sounds a bit remote. It was interesting to hear the SE2200A, because I know some of the other SE mics. The ultra cheap X1 tends to sometimes emphasize random things, and sometimes it doesn't. It a bit unpredictable. The SE2200 has some of that too, though it's definately better. I tried the SE4400A a week ago, and it sounds quite differently, and very remote. As if the speaker was moving back and forth from it (but he wasn't). And then there's the Titan which I think is superb. It has the same dryness as the 2200A, but is far more detailed and precise. Of course, it was also more pricy back when you can get it. (Watch out, there are two revisions of this mic, 1 is bright, 2 is dark.) Thanks for the demo. I'm a mic nerd. I like tests like these. :)
The Lauton audio 320 has a lot of self noise, I am surprised that no one noticed that. It was pretty audible to me, so I went back and I looked up the specification for this microphone, and it's signal-to-noise ratio is 17 DBA! That's way too high for my taste.
Thanx for the review. Top pics were the LA320 and Mojave MA50. Been wanting a tube mic so I'm looking into the LA320 as well as the Mojave MA200 (tube). Have you ever tested out an aston spirit (w/transformer)? currently going for $450 but just picked one up used for $250. definitely something to check out when you get a chance.
I've heard good things about Aston but have not tried their mics. If your looking for a good tube mic also check out the Vanguard V13 and Luke audio al-Y56
Would any of these compare to the Rode K2? I found one for $350. Is a tube condenser mic the best route for vocals? I'm doing hard rock/Metal vocals. Thanks man😁
Nice comparison, have you had a chance to check out Stellar X² mic yet? I'm hearing a lot of rave about it. I went to purchase one this one morning, & they are out of stock for now. They have more buyers, than mics made😂🤣. I wanted to purchase one were I could do a head-to-head with the Roswell k87. One more question, have you done a head-to-head with the mini k47 & the k87? To see which one sound better over all on vocals.

Never heard of the K2, but for metal vocals if your going to be screaming it's hard to best a Shure SM7b

I've used the Shure once on rap vocals. Honestly can't remember how I liked it

Never heard of the stellar mic. Haven't compared the k47 to K87 yet but once I finish my review of the k87 I'll be doing a video comparing the two
