  • CHANEL Did Me Dirty! This SHOULD NOT Have Happened 😫
Today I'll be sharing a little story-time of my recent experience in Chanel.
What do you guys think? Has this ever happened to you?
Should I feel a little used? lol xx Mel
P.S I am not saying all Chanel SA's or boutiques are like this. I'm just sharing my unfortunate experience which I hope by sharing this vid, it never happens to anyone else. At the end of the day, it's just a bag. I definitely did not want to let it wreck my holiday with precious time with family and friends. For now, I'll happily shop vintage or preloved from reputable consignment/preloved stores.

I had an experience shopping at Chanel Vietnam. At the store, I can film and take pictures but it will be restricted and sometimes I will get reminded by the staff. On the contrary, in your situation, I don't understand how he can take pictures of customers without permission to boost his sales. His behaviour is terrible!

They did that to me at Lexus. I told the salesman that I wanted the Lexus and said that I will go to the bank to pick up a check. He said that they would wash the car and get it ready for me. They called me while I was at the bank to confirm that I was still interested. I replied yes that I am at the bank picking up a cashiers check and will be over shortly. I arrive at the dealer with a check only to find out that the6 just sold the car. I asked the salesman why he let the car go to another person. He said that I did not leave a deposit on the vehicle. I said that he never asked me to leave a deposit. He said a deposit of $500 would have locked the car up. I said that I could have just placed it on my credit card. I think they made more selling the car to somebody financing through them. I left and never went back to them. I originally wanted another Lexus because they were nice to us when my wife purchased he GX470. I remember when Mercedes was rude to me after I purchased an ML and we vowed never to buy from Mercedes ever again. I like the AMG products but will never go to that brand again.

Coming from a previous SA for another brand, I’ve had plenty of situations where I had a bag on hold for a client and had no problem letting who I was helping in store know that someone is interested in it but you’re welcome to try it on and we can get it ordered for you! Now the sending of a photo to a client is pretty weird! Don’t understand why he used you for a sale!

That’s a breach of privacy and without consent especially on a high end boutique where we should expect a higher quality of service and protection. They don’t usually allow us to photograph on their store so why should they have the freedom to use our image and likeness to sell a bag without permission or compensation!

My wife and I visited Chanel Hawaii a couple of years ago. The sales associate brought out three mini handles for my wife to examine: Black, Yellow, and Blue. Initially, my wife was intrigued by the yellow one. After setting it down, she tried on the black one. Suddenly, another sales associate took the yellow one to show it to another client. Nearly a minute later, our original sales associate informed us that the yellow one had been sold. We were surprised because we hadn't yet made a decision and were still in the process of trying on all three options.
    We just left.
When it comes to the availability of the Flap or any classic styles, whenever we visit Chanel, the sales associates always open the cabinets and show us their extensive stock. There's so much available that it actually discourages us from making a purchase-it feels too easy to obtain.

You need to learn to take a beat. Don't allow yourself to be shocked / rushed into reacting or deciding to something. When something like this happens, practice saying "One moment please", take a beat gather your thoughts then react. You may think you look a little silly but it's worth it.
If predict if you did, you would had asked him why has he taken pictures of you without your consent and sent it to someone you don't know.
I predict you would had asked to see a manager to discuss this blatant lack of respect and privacy.
And finally I predict you'd had walked out with that bag, after they had issued WhatsApp lady an apology and a full refund.

I have been buying all kinds of luxury for over 6 years now, multiple times at Chanel, various cities around the world. I have ALWAYS had fabulous customer service regardless of whether I was buying a classic double flap or an SLG….UNTIL RECENTLY….I bought a small classic wallet in store, went back into the store to also buy the longer version on the same day, after an hour of purchasing the first one….from the same sales associate who had helped me an hour ago….who was very rude the first time as well but I didn’t take it personally and tried to focus on enjoying my purchasing and not let her rudeness ruin my mood ….
So I told her that I am back to buy the longer version too, I told her I specifically wanted a made in France piece. She went to bring one for me.
As she came back with it, she opened the box up and handed it to me and said unfortunately we only have made in Spain version….she put the wallet in my hands herself, so I opened it and while I was looking at it I said yeah…I love this wallet so much but I am looking for a made in France piece…as soon as she understood that I wasn’t going to buy the made in Spain one, she abruptly took it out of my hands while I was still talking and looking at the wallet and said Oh, Ok! RUDE! Disrespectful! Clearly crossing the line of decency.
Just like you I was shocked and didn’t know how to react so I ‘thanked’ her and left the store. As I said I have always always had a great experience at other Chanel stores all over the world…I didn’t know how to react but I felt humiliated….and was very disturbed the rest of the day and clearly still am when and if I think about it! She is ‘cancelled’ in my eyes…never buying from her again! Her loss as I buy at Chanel a lot! 😊
Also I feel I was dressed pretty decent, a nice summer dress, LV BAG AND SLIDES, Cartier jewelers, polite, and a reminder I had just bought from her an hour ago! She was OBNOXIOUS!

You are not overreacting. I feel you. I had this confusing experience too at a boutique in Paris. Anyway, giving the SA the benefit of the doubt that it took some time for his client to respond, i think it was a matter of timing- with him showing them to you while waiting for his client to respond. The SA was trying to secure his commission with his existing client and you, a new client. Obviously, he went for his long time client because of repetitive purchases already but most especially, his commission is secured- payment is done! Not an ethical practice if you ask me( not my cup of tea) but very practical. So that part, i kinda understand the person although, i dont agree. You are completely right that he should have at least told you that he is holding it for a client but will let you try. Taking your picture without your permission and use it to make a sale with the other client is definitely a NO.

  • @queenelina5296
    @queenelina5296 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Honestly, that SA was so dodgy and unprofessional in the way he treated you and the other customer. Imagine contemplating about spending that much money on a bag, and then having your SA text you the photo of another woman trying it on and ready to pull the plug. It is extortionate. He manipulated you into trying on the bag and by mentioning it was the last one, he pushed the sale on you, and then sent the picture to his other client threatening her that she has to wire the money instantaneously if she wanted to buy the bag she was eyeing. Shady through and through! I don't know why Chanel is trying so hard to make us hate the brand we all love so much and have spent so much money on....

I am a chanel lover through and through and personally, I have been loving Chanel for years and still recently just purchased a bag and shoes. That said, NO you are not over reacting!!! You are correct SA could have told you that he was waiting on his client response but you could see the bag and then, he could have checked with his client to see if she/he was still interested in the handbag. What I think it happened, is that this particular client was not interested until YOU expressed your interest in the bag and he contacted her/him to say that you wanted it. That was unethical, and very distasteful on his part. I am really sorry Mel you experience this at chanel again.

It was completely inappropriate behavior on the associates part. They need to take care of the client in front of them first. If it was a hold, the correct thing the SA should have done was to inform you they were holding this for a client (and they never should have brought it out if it was a hold for a good client). And to send your photo to a client is an invasion of your privacy. Wrong wrong wrong. If the client didn't respond in a timely manner (usually you are advised how long they can hold something for you), then you should have been given 1st dibs on the purchase. I am glad you didn't buy anything from him. I would have taken his photo (to make him uncomfortable), told him he just made a very costly mistake by sending my photo to another person and misleading me about the bags availability. I would have said he just lost a very big commission and I would have left. You did the right thing.

I’m shocked about your story. I have a problem with Chanel boutique in Berlin. They sold me old Jumbo bag which was displayed as a new bag. I ordered it online during covid. I waited for the boutique to open again to return the bag. It was a whole scandal. I got my money back but I had to go through humiliation from the staff. I think they sold this bag again after me😂😂😂

How awful! I think he thought he'd contact his customer to encourage her to make a decision and if she did buy the lilac bag, you'd take your second choice, the blue. Surprise! And, even better, you walked out without purchasing anything, so his actions hit him in his wallet.
Had he disclosed up front he was holding that bag, and would have to check with the client, different situation. And, yes, I would have requested speaking with the manager about the photograph.

You have the right to be upset and not over reacting at all. Chanel SAs are so dodgy. You should escalate and report this unprofessional behaviour. He took your picture without your consent to pressurize another client.
I had asked a Chanel SA to hold mini rectangular for me and I was on my way to pick it up. I was in communication the whole time I was on the way to the store. When I reached, she was like oh it is sold. She knew I was coming but sold it anyways.

I am glad that you shared your experience online. High end shops should be nicer to their customers. I remember walking into LV and they were giving me a dirty look like I could not afford anything in the store. I just received a bonus and told my wife she could purchase a new hand bag. They were so rude to us that we left and went to another LV shop a few miles away. The girl was much nicer so we purchased a purse and matching wallet spending over $7,000.

I was at LV Paris 2 yrs ago. I spotted n held on to a LAST mini Alma while waited for my SA to return for other options. Another SA approached me to “borrow” this mini Alma once n then twice to let his client to try on. Then I realised they were ready to make payment without telling me. I confronted that SA why my “borrow” bag not returned n made a scene to ask for their manage if there’s a racist issue for Chinese vs Middle East. I must credit their manager who pacified me to their VIP room n got me another similar bag within 30min.

I’m honestly so shocked that happened to you Mel 😱 I would be very upset if that happened to me. I think actually it did happen once. My SA at the time sent me a picture of the cardholder I had requested. But I didn’t see the msg until my lunch break and by then she said she had already sold it to someone else. I felt like she should’ve at least held it for the day until I had responded as no one can be glued to their phone 24/7. But she said whoever could pay first gets it. I don’t know if that’s how everyone operates, but I wasn’t very happy about it. I eventually switched SAs and it was the best thing I did! Anyway I’m so sorry for that terrible experience 😢 that lilac cf is so gorgeous! You know I love purple!

The way I feel about this is - it's always first-come-first-served. I reserve bookings for my best customers too in my business. Now, although Chanel SAs may play 'dirty', taking pictures of customers whilst other customers are doing their bidding over the phone, I wouldn't waste my energy thinking about a Chanel bag for more than 5 minutes after leaving the store, honestly. Clearly, this may have been a big-name celeb messaging the SA. Stores I've been to in NYC have pulled this too.
Chanel isn't the 1970s high-end boutique we used to think of years ago that serve their clientelle with etiquette. These days, they're just as nonchalant as any of the stores on the high street. LV along with them. Just vanilla service and even more vanilla customer care. And as much as I love my Chanel double flaps, they're really not worth our time or energy. These days, I just feel there are other things in life to be concerned with other than a Chanel bag. Sorry, my two Euro cents.

To be honest I have yet to have a pleasant experience at a Chanel boutique. Every time I go, I made yo feel less than. Ok so I’m wearing jeans and carrying a double flap, they look down at me and truly make me feel terrible about myself. I don’t go any longer. I mean we are spending a lot of money and we should have respect to each customer…

It’s not just you. I had an experience where they decided to refuse to sell to me. It took awhile to discover (multiple phone calls) that they deemed me a “reseller”. I provided proof that I have in my collection all bags I’ve bought, all purchased since ‘21. They did not care. Since when this occurred, I wanted boots, I had my husband buy them. But since then, I’ve decided of to buy any longer. I have 2 classic flaps- one small black with RGW and one jumbo black with palladium. So offensive overall since I’m nota reseller, but a luxury lover. As to Hermes, I live near Miami, FL. I have spent a significant amount, but since personal shoppers dominate, I cannot compete, and have been shut out from buying a BKC. As a lover of quality bags this has also been disappointing.

My SA did something similar but I was at the other end. She texted me showing me a bag that is very hard to get. I replied 2 minutes after saying that I’m taking it. She has my credit card, she could just make the transaction. But she replied back 30 minutes later telling me that it’s sold. She then told me that an other one is supposed to come in the boutique and she’ll reserve it for me. I never heard anything back and instead she texted me about an other bag. I’m not happy at all and I didn’t even reply back.

Hey Mel, I'm Vietnamese and visited Vietnam 5 years ago. I had a weird experience like you did at the Chanel beauty boutique. I asked her for a lipstick color which I had the name for. And she said "Oh no I don't know the name. You need to give me the number of the lipstick instead." I was so shocked that I didn't even ask her why SHE couldn't look that up for her customer. Wasn't it equally bizarre? Well, I walked away, and she didn't care. As I walked away, she repeated: "Oh I'm sorry. You need to know the number. We go by the number here." 😂 So I glanced at her and walked away her mid-sentence.
It is clear to me now that the SA's at Chanel branches in Vietnam have been trained to behave like this. They treat you like a stranger until you buy something first and get on THEIR list. They're so sneaky and snobby, reminds me of the crazy sales hawks at outdoor markets in Vietnam. This lack of manners shows you that money and branding can't buy class. Takashimaya in Vietnam also has this passive aggressive sales tactics. So unelegant.
Regarding the brand name clothing, there are so many realistic fakes in Vietnam that they can't seem to distinguish the real thing from the fake thing. Shame on Chanel for even putting the boutique in a place where their brand isn't respected and is being run by disrespectful people. They only care about the money and "exclusivity." No manners or morals.

So he works on commission and would have received it on the lilac bag whether he sold it to you or his other client. But you were potentially ready to buy the lilac bag, the blue bag, and possibly some ready to wear. He lost all that commission. All I can think about is the scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Robert’s walks into the boutique that wouldn’t help her the day before with all her shopping bags and said, “Huge, huge mistake.”
