Excellent advice and instructions. Going to the Netherlands from Scotland soon so thought I had better have this done and now I will do it myself. Thanks
Excellent video everything in focus and good lighting. The naration was very good and precise. If I had the tools I would definitely have a go at this project.
Hi! Thank you for the video. Your English accent is really easy to understand for me (a French guy trying to save money on my campervan services 😊) I'm just wondering why you did not change the washer on the screw at the bottom? Is it strong enough to let it until the next service? Thanks again. Take care Joce
Hi Joce. Thanks for your kind comments. That was the first oil change on that van so I didn’t think it would need one. To be on the safe side change the washer. 🚐👍
Malcolm, which oil did you use. Also is your engine Euro 6. Mine a 2019 2.3 150 needs Fiat spec 9.55535 - DS1 which not many oils meet. I have found Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 and Petronas WR Forward.
Hi. I used Trade TEC 0w-30 ECOLS oil from my local motor factors. It did meet Fiat specifications. My van is the euro 6 2.3 130bhp engine. Thanks for watching.👍🚐
I have the same model of Ducato 2016 and plan to change the oil in the next few weeks. This would be my second oil change, the first being done by the dealership. I have done many oil changes over the years, however the Ducato is fitted with an oil degradation counter, can I ask if you reset the oil degradation counter or does your vehicle still advise an oil change required at 17000 miles?
I didn't reset the service mileage counter, I was going to wait and see what the mileage would be when the service light lit up. I usually change the oil every 10,000 miles and it will take me about 2 years to do that mileage. Thanks for Watching.
Hi Malcolm, For information purposes I carried out the oil change yesterday, like you the sump plug was tight, so tight that it bent my 3/8” drive “T” bar! Just for information purposes I purchased a Foxwell NT530 diagnostic tool with FIAT software and used this to reset the oil degradation counter. The tool advised that my oil was at 55% quality prior to reset and 100% quality after being reset. The screen on the dash did display information when the vehicle was first started after the procedure to indicate an oil change had taken place. One interesting point is the service indicator still stated 17000 miles so I still have a slight doubt it was reset, but I have approx 4500 miles to monitor and address. Keep safe Gavin
Hi. I bought the the oil and filter from my local motor factors. They need the registration number to give the correct oil for the vehicle. Halfords will do the same for you. Thanks Malcolm.👍
I changed the oil after watching this video. I waited till the oil stopped draining. When refilling it only took 5 litres to reach the full level (I've checked this several times). This has me wondering if all the oil has drained. A concern I had at the time was that since the van was on ramps (I have the same ramps) at the front, it was not level, and so some oil would remain and not flow out. So now I'm not sure what to do. Do I have a mix of 1.5 litres of old oil and 5 litres of new oil ?
@@malcolmbrooksmhomechannel That is the setting for my 2008 based Ducato based on a document I was given, but I would say they are all pretty similar. It seems to me that it is very hand tight and then about a quarter turn by wrench thereafter - but no more.
@@malcolmbrooksmhomechannel hi. How many miles are you up to now? I think it depends on driving conditions, vehicles spending a lot of time in traffic will do less miles compared to those doing long straight runs like motorhomes. Do you have the official service schedule?

Nice and clear presentation. Very useful, thanks.

I did it so.
Thanks again.
I'll watch more of your videos.

Where did you get the socket for the sump plug from. Thanks. Oh and did you have to buy a new sump plug.
The sump plug set was made by Sykes-Pickavant. Part number 013006
I didn’t replace the sump plug. You could do to be on the safe side.
Looked easy however what about all the under panels that need removing first?
That is the best thing about Ducato’s. No under panels to remove. 😊👍Malc.
I hjave the same job to do so thank you for taking the time to make this video, very informative.
Thank you for showing the procedure much appreciated. p.s Did you have to reset any oil waring lights for service intervals ?
Thanks for watching Michael…I am still waiting for the service light to appear. When it does I will put a video on about resetting it.👍👍😊Malcolm.
Very clean job Sir👍🏻
Thanks for watching…Appreciated.😊
Nice video and no mess👌
Just changing the rear disc pads on my tag axle, easier than I thought it would be.
You do get a lot of satisfaction repairing it yourself. 👍Malc.

Very informative...Loved it.
I like your vidio🙂
Perfect instruction video 👍
Did you change also washer ? Or same ? Thanks for answer..L
I did not change the sump plug washer, it is a copper washer and looked ok. Thanks Malcolm.
Great! Have You ever done the diesel filter change also?
Thanks for watching...I haven’t done a diesel filter change yet...Only done 12000 miles so far.👍
Talking to the camera🤣😂 good video, 💯👍
i have 2015 autotrail, what engine oil do you recommend, as seems to be lots of different recommendations

Hi Martin….I presume that you also changed the oil filter.
Yes I did. As you showed me.
I have checked on the Castrol oil website and they state the capacity is 6.1 litres. Personally I wouldn’t worry about it.
Do you think there was still old oil in the sump?
There will always be a bit of old oil in the sump and around the engine. Don’t worry about it.
Exellent 👌
Interessant de voir qu’ils ont mis une refroidisseur sous le filtre a huile. En revanche vous serrez trop fort le filtre a huile. Belle journee a vous
I’m sorry I can’t read french.
Apparently you like the oil cooler under the oil filter...And you think that I over tightened the oil filter.
@@malcolmbrooksmhomechannel yes perfect!
cheers thank very muck
Torque wrench setting is 22nm.
Thanks for the information.👍🚐

You also should reset the oil mileage counter with the oil change. I found a video here on how to do it.

I didn’t reset the service indicator because I won’t to see how long and what mileage it took to trigger it. Thanks for watching & commenting. 👍

I’m up to only 12,000 miles. I have only the service record booklet.
