I'm not sure I understand. I can be bored for days at a time with no benefit. I think I have a terrible personality which combines a very low happiness base line (I'm naturally miserable) with a very low boredom threshold and intense spikes of interest, meaning I have to constantly seek novelty and pleasure just to not be depressed and bored (an addictive personality for sure). I can't see any way out except to try and indulge my desires constantly as best I can.

@@someonesomeone25 We are overstimulated by games, porn and the internet in general. This makes it difficult to want to do the ''boring'' productive things like reading, training, taking walks etc. The solution would be to remove the stimuli, thus making the mundane exciting again. In practice if you are bored don't engage in videogames, youtube or somehting like that, rather sit with your boredom and in ten minutes u should feel the urge to do something productive. Hope this helps.

Being without digital stimulation isn't as good as some think. You just end up wasting time in other ways. It's very hard to find hours and hours of ways to be genuinely productive. You run out of things to do, and energy, rather quickly. You just end up reading, watching TV, day dreaming, drinking, or whatever instead.

Putting my phone in my glove box while I drive changed everything. Also only playing music without vocals as well as hypnotizing audiobooks that allow you to receive information without processing it. By doing this you shut your mind off and allow it to flow. I also spend more time not analyzing everything I see while I drive. Face and eyes forward. It's a very masculine mode. Eyes darting everywhere is a sign of insecurity and robs your ability to focus and allow things to process subconsciously.

Similar to what he talked about, when I fill my free time by consuming all this content, I’m super boring and unmotivated during the times where I actually need to put forth the effort or the times that actually matter. We have a limited attention so when you spend it all on consuming on social media, watching Netflix, binging TH-cam, you don’t have any of it left to notice the amazing ideas that live inside your head. The things that we do to avoid boredom eventually become boring, and thats when you start something brand new.
You’ll find yourself craving that new thing significantly more than the comfortable, routine things you’ve gotten used to (gaming, Netflix, social media, youtube, etc.). That’s why jiu jitsu is so addicting. Same with playing an instrument. After seeing that first glimpse of progress, you’ll never look back.

I've thought about this as well recently. Often times I am so busy that there is no time for me to get bored. And in those gaps inbetween that I could be a little bored or do nothing I catch myself looking at the phone or doing something similar. I feel like many great people in history were so bored sometimes so that they were forced to come up with new ideas. That's why I try to let myself be bored and not avoid it so much. But it is kind of getting hard nowadays which is weird to say haha. This video lets me know that there is something to that, thank you!
Another thing i noticed: I feel like by trying to be constantly productive I get scared of being bored because then "I'm doing nothing useful" or at least that's what I'm getting from most of the productivity content that is so popular on TH-cam or the Internet. I don't really understand why it's not more acceptable to be bored? I don't think you should be lazy in general but I've been thinking about this a lot.

Build it to perfect proportions (good source to look into is Steve Reeves Building the Classic Physique The Natural away). If you’re training for strength you can work with the weights or even calisthenics static training. There is so much more than to just getting big and building muscle. Make it fun and work towards something that you know is going to light that thumos.

Most people will never know what you are talking about here, they simply can't go a week without access to the internet or cable. It's one thing to hear about it, it's another to live it.

When quarantine began I had no other option but to train at home, so I did and then after some time, some gains and progress was made, so I decided that this was exactly for me. The thing is, I ran into some trouble due to limited home equipment (really a matter of ideas) but I gotta say it's fun to make progress regardless of it. So, whenever I encounter any problems, say finding heavy stuff to fill my backpacks which I put at the both ends of my barbell to bench press, things get stuck if I don't sort it out somehow, it is always in those moments of no input, no music, no tv, no nothing when I'm just minding my own, maybe just looking at the plants in the garden when I suddenly have an idea for what to do If I want to up my weights in x excercise, or some variation which I haven't thought about a way of implementing. So yeah, it's mind boggling what boredom can do, I'll take your suggestion Elisha right about now, I have to train, so no music for me.

Thanks Elisha. I'm trying to limit myself to one screen at a time... so no phone if I'm also watching TV/YT. Smartphones are poison. I challenge ya'll to sleep on the floor this week.
