In the owners manual most will tell you how to disable the “auto-down” feature on the windows. After installing the rain guards you can turn that feature back on again. Saves all the tapping up you were having to do. Also if you read the specs on the Scotch tape it says to hold the 15 lbs you need to use 60” of the tape 4 “ gives you 1 lb. So I would say you need several short pieces, but not as short as the few you are using.
