Got a cx500 I bought in a striped down condition and couldn't believe how much a cdi and coils are for them. So its getting two of these here soon with some cheap junkyard coil on plugs (two wire dummies) from a car of sorts. Spent lots of time comparing ac and dc options but you just cemented my ideas after finally stumbling on this. I been riding a gl1000 that I put a waste spark coil from a neon, granted that has points but still 10 bucks vs 300 for coils was a deal.
Hello again, it’s a 87 Yamaha moto4 350 4x2 single cylinder. But it has 2 pulse coils in stator housing. I’ve been told one is for reverse, that doesn’t make sense to me, and someone said the second is for spark advance. Not sure how to hook it up. Can you specify?
To my knowledge all spark advance is done either mechanical or through the cdi ore ecu. The reverse also would be through the cdi and set a rev limit. Check for second cdi just for reverse maybe that’s where the second pulser goes. Honda used a cdi just for reverse for a while. I know more about Hondas from that era than Yamaha but two pulser on single cylinder doesn’t make sense the factory timing set by flywheel it’s the cdi job to advance or retard spark timing. Get the wire diagram see where it goes
Can you please go into a little more detail I've got 2 Chinese cdi's but I don't have the connectors that go into the cdi's themselves so I'm going to have to go directly to the pins on the CDI with the connectors on top looking straight at it which wires are what thanks
I have another video about 10 videos that gives a little closer look if not there are some pics of the pin out on line or go to harvey spooners page he has some good videos on this topic that would help
I have a cb400sf vtec2 and I had a problem with the ECU, I went to mechanic and he did the same process which you are doing, the bike runs fine but the problem is that the VTEC is not working anymore. Any thoughts????
@@kylescreations4724 I think it is reassembled from different models, but the previous owner said it is 2008 model. I can show you what you want to see.
If it has two pulse coils the you need two dc cdi. If it’s a four cylinder 1 and 4 fire at the same time and cylinder 2 and 3. So you need two cdi and coil for each pulse coil
I’m doing it on a 91 gsxr750 and it has 2 coils 4 wires and 1 pick up coil that is blue and yellow is there any way u could draw it or explain how to do this one bc I can get 1 cdi to work idk if bike is ac or dc but the cdi is bigger I’m confused but to get spark I have to ground the yellow from pickup coil so that leaves me with only one wire for the 1 cdi I could use ur help plz thanks
good news and bad runs great even up in the high rpms I have not noticed a difference. in a drag race there might be a slight diff. but the starter clutch went out have to split the cases to fix going to be a minute. also coming out with video of me doing it to a jet ski. took it out ran great wide open no problem
Good that you have power there bit you need the eci/cdi to give the signal that gives the pulse to the coils. Which basically makes or breaks ground to the coils. Which causes spark
mine started by accidently removing a resistor when i wired the bike back up ran for 30 sec that was the end of the cdi but this actually worked really well
Glorious!! well explained, looking forward to seeing it on the road!
You and me both!
Ingenious my friend!
thank you also got this to work on a 2 stroke jet ski

im pretty sure he bypassed it cause this is a very simple fix. what year is the bike?
@kylescreations4724 Thanks for the reply❤️

What if you have an old Yamaha with TWO pulse coils? Do you tie both signal wires to the blue/white to a DC cdi?

@@kylescreations4724but if you have 4 wires coming from the stator what do you do with the other two
What is the blue wire for from the engine that is with the orange and grey and black wire s
I believe its the neutral light wire
Have another bike a 82 virago how would I wire it? I have 2 dc cdi and I can’t figure it out
Would have to see a wiring diagram
So u still have to have the switched 12v running to the 12 v side of each coil right and ur coil signal will go to the other on each coil
that is correct.

Have you got it running and riding..how does it run under a load..do3s ignition asvance under a load..??

Have a 4 cylinder suzuki bandit motor will this work on on it
it will work
White size muffler do i need for a vitacci 250cc pentora
not sure i would just measure the pipe you have and find just about any muffler with that size
i just bought fzr600 for 200$ but no spark but got powers to the coils
Good that you have power there bit you need the eci/cdi to give the signal that gives the pulse to the coils. Which basically makes or breaks ground to the coils. Which causes spark
Can you draw a wire diagram ?
probably could dont have the bike anymore. so the wiring on the bike is by memory. the cdi i can tell you what each wire does
Please can I do this on my kawasaki zx9r
should work just need some info
What about a SEM type K stator? lol or you got any hacks for it? Thanks!
I do not
please tell me what cdi did you use do you have a link to what i get
just google 4 pin dc cdi
Great vid love yer channel
Glad you enjoy it! lots of new stuff coming this year
Thankyou
You’re welcome 😊

I try. thank you
👍
thank you.
I have an old hnonda cb 750. This looks like the solution.
what year? does it have electronic ignition or points

thank you. im going to do another video talking about this subject soon

Those are cheap AC chinese CDI boxes. I have some laying around
they are cheap keep a couple extra around they seem to either last forever or die super quick
@@kylescreations4724 I watched the other video it is the 4 pin DC version you just have the AC plug in it.
