- In this video we show you to paint a Steel Legion Soldier from Para Bellum Wargames' Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings. With its dark fantasy setting, immersive story and 'rank and flank' gameplay, this is fast becoming a studio favourite. The miniatures are a joy to paint and the Steel Legion are no exception. We delve into painting their dark, burnished steel armour and then we also talk about how to approach painting your own scheme and what to look out for.

100 Kingdoms are my favorite faction.
I painted my Steel Legion with almost-black armor and purple and blue cloth, freehanding a constellation on their regimental flag and the same constellation on a cape I put on the leader's back
Purple looks great when paired with dark plate. Definitely going to paint my own with that color.
One of the things I love about the lore of the Hundred Kingdoms is that the Steel Legion are kind of the like mythical group, at least to them. They might not have big dinosaurs or giants, but the Steel Legion are just as awesome.
The Orders, Crimson Tower, Ashen Dawn, and so on are their mythical ones essentially. Killed their own god in order to stop Hazlia and his undead horde, still pass that blessing on to each generation.
Steel legion? Man I love imperial guar….. oh. Cool painting tho 👌

Loved this miniature so much I just had to get one of the boxes Para Bellum Miniatures and you offered us Academy Members.
I’ve mostly painted 28mm stuff so this is going to be interesting.
Now to find out how to paint the crossbows and leather gambeson to match this guy.

Great video, bought the Conquest starterset last year and I also got the Theist Priest. And thnaks to you I bought some Household Knights and a Seasoned Veteran, W’adrhŭn Scion of Conquest and a High Clone Executor. Hope you will do some videos for the Spire and the W’adrhŭn.

This is seriously the best fantasy game ever produced.

@@jonnyparker9914 Movement is super important. Preplanning before the turn starts the order you units will activate is a awesome tactical challenge. Also alternating with your opponent to play one unit at a time works perfect. About 3/4 of the rules are Old Warhammer rules back when the game was good.

This is a great scheme for a lot of the minis in the Dark Souls Tabletop as well. Have you ever considered painting any of those on camera?
I can definitely see these models also being used as like some special Cities of Sigmar Greatswords or something who are suppose to be like these super elite boys
They would too large unfortunately. These miniatures are approximately a 38mm scale.
@@davidforrest4798 alternatively, you could use these models for what they were intended to.

He used a dark base coat and dark colors, so yeah it’s going to appear dark.
@@theatheistbear3117 well, the "darkness" didn't happen on this video alone, but I've only decided to post and see if anyone else is having this same issue I have.
Help me out my man, if I wanted the armor to have a green glaze effect would it be best to do what you did in this video and then hit it with some contrast green before doing the final edge highlights? Or should I work the green into the initial shade and hope I don't dry brush out the effect?

To add a green tint using Contrast paint, we'd add some Contrast Medium to thin the pigment then glaze it over the metal. Try it and experiment and see if you get the results you want 😊

@@christophetroadec7661 Not going to lie, have not bought new GW in a while, what is the size of the IG trooper or Empire State Troop?. i dont see those being 41mm, and these are mean to be regular humans, so again, non starter.
Sigmarines are not human.
@@xxapoloxx The Freeguild are the same as the State Troops from 7e, so 28mm. I would say the most recent normal humans that came out with the witch hunter dad/daughter pair are about the scale of ASoIaF miniatures actually.
