As someone who doesn't manage to catch many of the streams these days, the podcasts have been really good to listen to in the car on longer drives or even occasionally on my commute. Ash clearly puts alot of work into them and it shows and they always manage to get me cackling to myself with the team bouncing off of each other the way they do ❤
The addition of Ash to the team was brilliant, she’s brought energy, madness, spookiness and most of all laughter. Her ideas for Halloween are always brilliant and the podcast is fun! Keep up the great work!
Ash's work is always so important for the team! And you can notice it when, while in the middle of another brilliant Halloween week, she also finds the time and the energy to create another brilliant episode of this podcast. Halloween may be coming to an end but I'm so glad Access can count on Ash as one of their brilliant hosts all year long. Thanks for all your amazing work Ash!
I just want to say a huge thank you to Ash. I really enjoy listening to the podcast each time a new episode drops, and I know that she puts a lot of thought and energy into each one. I love the rest of the team too of course, but I’m calling out Ash specifically because of her excellent hosting and because of the way she’s taken this from an idea to being the official podcast of PlayStation UK. Ash, you’re brilliant 👏🏻
Ash's contributions to the PlayStation Access channel are just so spectacular. She pours everything into always giving us exceptional content, whether it's for these podcasts, or for the awesome Halloween streams that we enjoyed recently. Her ability to not only conceive these brilliant ideas but infuse them with her energy and turn them into incredible content for us to enjoy is just remarkable. She consistently leaves such a positive mark on the channel, and so naturally adds to this amazing chemistry between the Access team that we all know and love. I still remember how quickly I came to appreciate her work when she joined, and that continues today because her impact continues to be nothing short of extraordinary! ❤
Ash, you have brought nothing but joy and laughter from the very first day you joined the access crew! Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in, we all love you and are so grateful that you are a part of the team!
Dear Access, I havent been in a live stream for quite some time due to work, however I always enjoy vodding the vids, listening to you have fun, and laughing with you, live or otherwise. Every single one of you is special, to me and in general. Today is a special shoutout day to Ash, to let her know how appreciated she is and how much fun she brings to this community. Halloween especially. Thank you for being the strong force that you are, and thank all of you for always being the best you can be, and for putting so much effort in to make us happy. We love you all 💙
Ash has been such a gem to the team. I love all the amazing ideas she comes up with for Halloween and I get such a huge smile on my face whenever I see her. She is such an inspiring woman in my eyes and I love every minute she's on screen. Keep up the great work Ash! ❤
A big thank you to Ash for all the work she has done since joining the Access team. I had enjoyed her work with WhatCulture, and then when she joined my favourite TH-cam channel it was made even better. So once again, a big shoutout and thank you, Ash for all that you’ve done here.
These podcasts never fail to brighten my day! Ash puts so much hard work and energy into everything. She pours her heart and soul into it all. She's been a great addition to the team. We love and appreciate everything you do! ❤
I am nowhere near eloquent enough to add anymore to the outpouring of love than everyone else has already put. I just wanted to add one more to the mix to show how much more love there is than hate. On the off chance that Ash manages to get this far in this list of love, you are epic Ash and the Access crew couldn’t be happier that you are part of such a amazing channel! Keep up the hard work. Also Thank You for another amazing week of Halloween! You just keep doing better and better every year!
Another fantastic Podcast! Thank you Ash for all the hard work you put into making these happen - they never fail to be entertaining! Not to mention all the hard work that goes into the Halloween streams. The community love and appreciate everything you have done and continue to do for the channel
Ash you brighten up everyone's day with you infectious attitude and your genuine love for gaming and the wider community. Love everything you are doing on access and please keep up the stellar job you and the team are doing ❤
First off, Ash... Love the tattoo! Second, I've thoroughly enjoyed the Halloween content you've conjured up. It is great fun to witness the horrors you put the team through and the effort it takes to do this doesn't go unnoticed. You are always a bundle of chaotic energy and I look forward to seeing more shenanigans in the future!
Ash, you are an amazing host and a very good addition to the team! Especially you and Dave have a chemistry that really cracks me up from time to time. Love your energy and everything you bring to the channel
ash you are a legend. keep being you, keep doing what you do, and keep being loud as hell. the work you and the gang do is amazing and being an access fan has been a massive highlight in my life
Loved how Rob was trying to put his fear of cosmic horror of _Annihilation_ into words. And totally agree with him. That complete alienness is so unsettling. The Fear of the True Unknown. It's why I've loved Lovecraftian and Existential Horror since I was young.
Great podcast yet again guys and gals! Honestly loving these. Thanks for all the hard work you put in to it especially Ash who is clearly the mastermind behind them love the little tidbits and just the general tone of them. Keep up the great work ❤❤
Thanks for more awesome content Access team! Love the channel, you all bring your own personality and flair to the channel which added together make a fantastic team. Thanks for the laughs, keep being you.
PlayStation wise, the most unexpected scare moment was first time in Crash 2, when Crash gets stung by those bees, stung, body twitches, then Crash’s head inflates double with this ODD STARE into the screen!
I’m going to jump on the Ash hype train for a moment. It has been so exciting to see Ash’s journey from What Culture to really solidifying her place in the Access crew! The work she puts into the podcast, her interviews, the streams, etc. all while being a lovely human being is genuinely inspiring (and her cackle is absolutely infectious). She and Rosie are both such great examples of girls and women who game, and it’s wonderful to see myself represented by Team Bikini. 💖🧡💖🧡
Ash feels like an OG of Access, like she's been part of Access for a decade. Love ya Ash. Keep up the great work team Access! Sincerely from someone who's been a fan since 2012.
I've enjoyed these podcasts so much since they've been introduced! Not only do I enjoy the team hanging out and chatting about things they enjoy, I also find myself constantly chuckling along with Ash's fun and lighthearted hosting style! You can tell she puts so much work into preparing the topics each week, the fun nicknames for the team, and having questions ready to keep conversation flowing. It's not easy to make it seem so natural but she does it! Absolutely slaying every week 💜
One of the best horror segments in non horror games for me is the Fyke Isle quest in Witcher 3. A Towerful of Mice. Atmosphere and soundtrack are just perfect.
Jump scares are the lowest form of scaring anyone, especially when its accompanied by a large sound telling you to get scared now - I mean who doesn't flinch when they hear something loud unexpectedly? As Rob says, its the tension and atmosphere that works best for horror, Jack Torrance staring off into the middle distance as he starts to become insane in The Shining, hearing about the deeds the killer has done in Se7en works better than showing us; looking up the stairs at Regan's room in the Exorcist wondering what next will happen when we enter there, or similarly as the automatic camera pans across the living room in Poltergeist as everyone is asleep ; or hearing what happened on the USS Indianapolis in Jaws, which is the scariest part of that film. Films like The Thing deliver the best of both though which is why they are masterpieces, when its a perfect balance between knowing you are trapped and can't get out, who among the crew is The Thing, and the practical effects which have never been bettered when the s**t hits the fan.
Absolutely loved the Halloween content this year, particularly the Friday stream. I know you were technically competing against each other but it was nice to see everyone having a jolly spooky time together. Keep up the great work as always Access!
Batman arkham Knight, grappling up onto a rooftop that I've done countless times. But this time something popped its face out to meet me and it got me like nothing else ever has.
Ash, if you want to see a great Rob jumpscare, watch the stream of the demo of Resident Evil 3 Remake (I think it was that stream). At some point, Rosie whispered "STARS" in her mic. Rob's reaction was priceless. Also, it was another great Halloween week. Even though, I think you were too kind with your victi ... colleagues. Next year we need more human rights violations ! 🤣
On the topic of scary moments in non-scary games, I found Mirror's Edge to have one section that for some reason is just stressing me out. That's when Faith get's confronted by the Project Icarus guys the first time and has to run away from them. There's one part where you have to run into an elevator and you just hear the footsteps behind you getting closer and closer. No matter how many times I've replayed that for the trophies, I never got cought. Yet, it always stressed me out and scared the hell out of me.
@@happyjam92 oh they mean, in the original RE2 (1998), there's a door midway through, and back then you had the black screen between doors that the next area loads in. So you open this one door, expecting the black inbetween screen, instead you're ambushed by 2 zombies in the loading animation. In the Remake it's the generator room in the station you usually find a key in along with the save box. This is the area where Leon/Claire put out the fire from the helicopter. Same general area. At least i believe this is the door they mean.
This episode was one of my favs. I always enjoy a scare in a game where you least expect it. Also Ash I need to know where that amazing sweater came from.
Oh yeah... those monsters in Uncharted 1 was so unexpected... I was like I thought this was an adventure game not a horror game!? My heart and mindset was not ready for it... I was just like lets go and shoot some guys! lol. Playing through that section on brutal mode though was hell... I did it, but I couldn't stop moving my butt for a second, lol. ; D
I love the head piece ladies! Reminds of Morigan and Lilith from Dark Stalkers! I'd say unexpected moments from a non horror game would be from Subnautica, not so much as the actual scary leviathans but more so on the dread of massive bodies of water descending deeper and the screen just keeps going into complete darkness while hearing something you can't make off from a distance or something that's going to approach you. It was just pure and peak depiction of Thalassophobia
The Dahaka from Prince of Persia Warrior Within. The first time it appeared and teleported near me, and the background went all brown and dark made me drop my controller in shock. But the moment that terrified me the most was a glitch (at least I think it was a glitch because it shouldn't happen). Dahaka goes away if you cross the waterfall curtain of the time portal but there was one time when I crossed the curtain, turned around and mocked him "Haha! You can't get me.", when suddenly his tentacles burst through the waterfall, grabbed me and turned me into time dust. And then he said something in his reverse voice that to me sounded like a demonic laugh. Even when I had to fight him all I wanted was to run away because he was so terrifying. Also, the Eel encounter in Gris.
#podsquad A huge thanks to Ash for the amazing halloween streams this year. It really is a testament to how well they were designed, that almost every challenge went down to the last few seconds. Keep up the great work!
#PODSquad If Rob doesn't get Golem in a dress being blown like Marlyn Monroe over that air duct as a tattoo & Ash & Rosie don't get matching team bikini tattoos I'd be a little bit disappointed
#podsquad Was curious to know if Rosie ever finished Lies of P after being so hot on it and if so, what she thought of the ending? Your videos helped me get into it and I really enjoyed my time with it, especially the final stretch with some truly epic boss fights - probably the best Souls-like out there!
There's a ghost in Fallout 3 that was creepy. You go into this ruined building and as you enter there's a flash and for a second everything is light and intact and you see a figure walking before everything returns to ruins. It was a really cool example of a time slip, which I know all about because I've listened to Uncanny ever since Rob first mentioned it!
#podsquad #vodsquad If you could choose any ps access inside joke to insert into a video game what would it be? My personal choice would be in God of War. If you just barely beat a boss with approximately 1% health Mimir pipes up and says "Brother! You should be dead!" (throwback to Dave's Scottish mechanic story). How much pull do you guys have at Santa Monica studios? Love the podcast & keep up the amazing work
Batman Arkham Knight....if you know you know. It wasn't supposed to be a horror game, but it has one of the most memorable "jump scares" that I've experienced.
Love it. Rosie is such a cool person, Rob is one of my favorite people and Ash has been my dream girl since whatculture horror. Loving the content y’all.
That hat I'm time section had no business being that scary completely out of nowhere Shame that house was supposed to be a whole world as opposed to just being a small sections thst would have featured the price and covered the events from the collectable storybook..got cut I think for time ironically
10:59 I think we have a new streaming series...Dave has to always play the horror games, so now time for Ash. Make it so Rob. Or maybe the Crystal Maze could feature something?
Awe Rob... those pumpkins make me remember the last time I went trick or treating many years ago and I felt I was at an age to not be doing it anymore, but anyway my neighbough wanted me to go and she gave me a heavy headband thing with light up pumpkins... honestly I hated it since I was going as a warewolf, lol. Yet I had to ware it like it or not... running down the streets with everyone was so hard as it kept trying to fall off my head and then half way through I find they have stopped working... someone shouts "Hey! I've found some batterys on the street!" to everyone... and then I realized they were from my pumpkins... so I kept quite and stuffed it in my bag... went back home and my dad was like "Why were you not waring the light up pumpkins!?" I was like well they stopped working and the batterys had fallen out whilst trying to keep up with the other kids, lol. Anyway... trick or treating in my village ment you had to take you're candy loot back to the hall were the adults sorted it all out... I hated it cause I ended up with stuff I didn't like or couldn't even eat for being ill. So yeah... I don't care much for halloween... except for the horror games, lol. ; D
Good morning! For me, the most unexpected moment in games was on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. I was playing for the first time back in the 90's and my cousin who already had finished the game was watching and, of course, he doesn't warn me about the dramatic entrance of the Nemesis in the RPD station, through the window. The Nemesis just came out of nowhere, destroyed the window and that was an unforgeable jump scare and, obviously, my cousin was just laughing hahahahahahahahahahaha
It’s always such a pleasure and a privilege to listen to what each of you has to say about all things gaming and everything that goes on in your personal lives as well. It shows us you’re not just mindless machines who happen to play the games we love, but you’re human like the rest of us. I hope you enjoy the upcoming Halloween holiday as much as I loved this podcast! Happy Halloween, everyone. Trick or treat! 🎃
in the original Resident Evil 2, when you need to light the pillars to get the cog, you have to go behind the desk and I thought ok there is only 1 door in/out so I'm good, until i start walking back and then BAMMM, Mr. X punches through the wall. I was caught so off guard, I paused the game to take a moment lol.
The unsolved noise phenomenon that really freaks me out are called "Sky Trumpets" ... Why Files has a really good vid about them... only watch if you wanna be creeped out!
Thief: The Dark Project - not a game I expected to frighten me. After doing a zombie filled mission to the back of a Cathedral in an abandoned and shuttered part of the city, looking in a back window and seeing how riddled with much scarier stuff it was and the Eye saying "Comes a man to rescue me... poor man." Then you have missions to find what you need to open the doors before they hit you with Return To The Cathedral and I have never been more frightened to play a level than I was for that one. I stopped outside the doors, trying to convince Garrett that he was being a fool and he should go home. Alien Isolation is a close second - but Return To The Cathedral is the most scared in game I've ever been.
Unexpected scary moments/segments in games not known as horror or thriller games are: Also uncharted 1 / Subnautica (does this count?) / Journey (going from beautiful landscape exploration to dark places with creepy things you need to avoid spotting you.. ) /Rime (similar situation, it starts really beautiful and wholesome and gets more scary as you go along. Which is unexpected if you go in blind)/ FF15 chapter 13. It's a different tone from the rest of the game.
My scared moment came in resident evil 7. I was playing re7 in vr for my first play through. So anyways it happened fighting mia the part where she pops out of no where and stabs your hand with a screwdriver. My window was opened and a breeze came through at that exact same moment when mia pops up. It felt so life like that it scared the heck out of me. For a moment I thought it was real lol .
#podsquad on the topic of giving people in the access team tattoos i would give Rob a Gollum on his ring finger and have it look like he is trying to steal Robs wedding ring
38:24 that jumpscare from the Hunting of Hillhouse in the car, legitimately creeps into my mind every time I’m driving alone in a dark road at night lol the legit panic attacks I get during long stretches of no people and lights, is insane because of that jumpscare
#vodsquad I totally agree with Rob. The ending of Annihilation activates something deeply primal in me and I cannot even THINK about it without getting incredibly paranoid. Incidentally, the book is INCREDIBLE and is one of my favorite Sci-fi novels ever.
As someone who doesn't manage to catch many of the streams these days, the podcasts have been really good to listen to in the car on longer drives or even occasionally on my commute.
Thanks Ash for all the fun on this week's Halloween streams, the hilarious chaos, the spookiness, the wholesomeness you brought to the Access family!
Dear Access,

Definitely the Cerberus story path of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. I was not expecting that.
The first Ratman room in Portal. Unbelievable and unparalleled.

Was Ash talking about The Fall classic Theres A Ghost in my House? Not a reference I expected.
‘Yes’ 😂. I commented that watching videos from 10 years back. If any context was needed 😂
Those damn dogs breaking thru the windows in the hallway in the og Resident Evil. Scared the shiznittle out of 16 year old me🤣🤣
Agreed 👍 lol 😂
I'm not really a fan of horror content (Films, TV, Games) but Rob is absolutely spot on about Midnight Mass.

Yep... Rob references it in the episode and talks about it for a few minutes
I love Ash so much
It’s me, I’m at home screaming
Love it. Rosie is such a cool person, Rob is one of my favorite people and Ash has been my dream girl since whatculture horror. Loving the content y’all.
I got a jump scare in SkyrimVR. In the first dungeon i was looking one way and suddenly heard a Draugr breathing next to me.
That’s awesome lol
That hat I'm time section had no business being that scary completely out of nowhere
Shame that house was supposed to be a whole world as opposed to just being a small sections thst would have featured the price and covered the events from the collectable storybook..got cut I think for time ironically
The Venom jumpscare in _LEGO Marvel Super Heroes._
Ash, I also watched Signs too young and was traumatized by it. I can relate to your fear of aliens.
until dawn was like my first proper scary horror game , seeing my characters head being ripped off was scary AF
🎶We luv u Ashleigh, we do. We luv u Ashleigh, we do. We luv u Ashleigh, we do. OHHH ASHLEIGH WE LUV U 🎶 💙
Ash has got rosey cheeks of joy ☺️❤️x
The sash wringing... the trash thinging... mash flinging... the flash springing, bringing the the crash thinging the... Hash Slinging Slasher!
Ah The uncharted scene.
Me: I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!!!!
So yeah... I don't care much for halloween... except for the horror games, lol. ; D
That damn cat in Silent Hill!
Why was Dave or someone not hidden behind the sofa to scare the life out of Rob XD XD
Mundaun. The whole game. 😂
Ash needs to make a collage of jump scares of Dave to make up for Rob ruining them.
Happy Halloween!
The way Rob described Alien: Isolation makes me think he would LOVE Amnesia: The Bunker.
Happy Halloween 👻👻🎃🎃

I think the scariest thing is all the encounters with the teleporting spider grudge lady in the evil within
I played Visage this spooky season and that game just....wow.
The unsolved noise phenomenon that really freaks me out are called "Sky Trumpets" ... Why Files has a really good vid about them... only watch if you wanna be creeped out!
Rob "lol Ash having nightmares is funny to me"
Thief: The Dark Project - not a game I expected to frighten me.
Hunters in RE. Enough said
yay Ash! (that's all you get for now!)
Scariest skeleton (but technically a zombie) to me will always be Tarman from the film Return of the Living Dead.
#podsquad on the topic of giving people in the access team tattoos i would give Rob a Gollum on his ring finger and have it look like he is trying to steal Robs wedding ring
Scarcrosie Cadaverick wouldve been gold
38:24 that jumpscare from the Hunting of Hillhouse in the car, legitimately creeps into my mind every time I’m driving alone in a dark road at night lol the legit panic attacks I get during long stretches of no people and lights, is insane because of that jumpscare
#vodsquad I totally agree with Rob. The ending of Annihilation activates something deeply primal in me and I cannot even THINK about it without getting incredibly paranoid. Incidentally, the book is INCREDIBLE and is one of my favorite Sci-fi novels ever.
Alan Wake 2, baby!!!
Rosie not wearing the orange head decoration option is messing with my mind.
