My normal format of listening to my 10+ weekly podcasts is audio. However, with you guys, I can't do it without seeing your faces because it 50% of the joy of this podcast for me. You guys are great.
The first time my family and I saw Treebeard, we immediately thought of my grandpa. His face, height, and crazy deep voice were just like Treebeard. He even talked pretty slowly.
I dont know why I thinkk it is so weird but being from America and hearing that you guys ate Kentucky Fried Chicken during Lord of the Rings is so weird when all the rest of your snacks are so foreign to me. You be like "I at a Wurzle Dunkrack and washed it down with a Houser Dop then for dinner it was Mcdonalds"...WHAT?!! Love you guys🥰
Best anti heroes have to be Arthur and John from reds deads redemptions. Like by the end of both games you've been fooled into thinking they deserve good things. But they are bad men
They were bad men, but they redeemed themself. Just like Kratos, you can change as a person. You can choose to be better and you shouldn't be damned because of who you used to be. That's what makes it tragic. In the end Arthur finally become a good person but it was too late. It doesn't matter who you were, what matters is who you choose to be.
@OwenIsOnline That's one good way of looking at it. But I often feel thats one of the reasons why these games are so sad in tone. I don't think the writers really think there is such a thing. Their punishment comes for them in the end. But I'd like to think the same as you
I mean we all know secret boss is Matthew Castle. It's more that most of the audience aren't old enough to know who Mathew is, so guessing him is quite difficult for them 😂😂.
Is 37 too young to know? Because I've never heard of the guy. Unless you're talking about the quarterback that people thought was going to take over for Tom Brady a few years back.
@Shorttermmemorycard All of the above. Brawler, JRPG, & Action Adventure. The last two most recent games are solely turned based. Highly recommend the series. Amazing stories!
Its weird thst the idea of anti hero had shifted over the years Seems it used to be more.of a neutral/ grey area where you sided with whomever served your personal goals best I.e catwoman/ black cat whereas now it's More someone who is on the side of good but saves the day using questionable means I.e punisher or agent venom
#podsquad For me, as a brazilian geek, it's strange to see a british person who is not familiar with LotR story. In my thoughts, it's like ALL british born knowing all about Tolkien, or at least, read it in the school. But, that said, I'm enjoying to see this Rosie's journey in Tolkien's work. Please, continue to reporting to us!
Antiheroes to me would be characters that do things for the right reasons, but morally not in the correct way. Avalanche from FF7 for example - bombing a giant reactor springing to mind.
I feel like a lot of the main cast of the MGS series would fit the description antiheroes. It just depends on the perspective. Or on the game you are currently playing.
#PodSquad This is for Rosie. In the past month i have knocked out Kiwami and Kiwami 2 of yakuza getting ready for the third. The yakuza series is Amazing. The way they setup for the climatic last fights never fail. Sorry this message is so long.
There are definetely villains in the TLOU universe. There's nothing good about Isaac, seraphites or the rattlers. While I agree that no playable character is "good" by the definition of being a video game hero, there's a shit ton of characters that do despicable things without any type of remorse. Isaac tortures people because they're not in his faction. Actually, scratch that. He tortured Abby's mates when she goes missing to search for Owen. Nora tells Abby this just before Abby descends to the Ground Zero area at the hospital. The seraphites torture and murder anybody who don't follow their religious bs cult. The rattlers have slaves and turn them into infected for fun.
There's quite a bit of anti-heroes I enjoy in gaming. Ada from resident evil, shadow from Sonic, Wolf from Star Fox, and Arthur and John from Red Dead redemption are such good examples.
#PODSquad Rosie admitting that she doesn't know any Taylor Swift songs has me shook! I'd love to know which videogame characters you think could be pop icons like Taylor, and what you think their most popular hit would be called?
I’d say Yakuza Kiwami. It’s the first one anyway, and the most enjoyable of the six games I’ve played so far. Serves as a great introduction to what Yakuza is without needing to know who half the characters are, as is the case in later entries. It looks great too as it was a complete remake.
Why does Rob always seem like he'd rather be anywhere but on the podcast and smooshes in to the couch armrest so much he seems to be trying to get off there.
I think the brilliance of TLOU2 for me personally is realizing how villainous Joel really was. The first game tries to tell you that, but we only see him doing his best for this girl, so it's easy to forget how self centred and cruel he could be.
Is that not what she said though? She said she had played the PSP version. Maybe try listening to what people say instead of just jumping in to the comments to mansplain ffs.
@@NotElsewhereClassified yes but she said what it used to be. But that's not what persona 3 used to be. It's just what the portable version is/was. Chill dude
@@jackolantern_8239 Rosie was talking about her personal experience with the game, which I felt was clear was the PSP version. Your comment of “it feels like you *only* played” just comes across as condescending. Not everyone has the time to play all versions of a 80+ hours JRPG.
@@NotElsewhereClassified I didn't intend to come across as condescending. I think you're probably taking this worse than I intended. But in case Rosie does see this, I didn't mean anything bad by it. It's true that not everyone has the time to play long games, I don't dispute that. My point is that the features she was talking about with third person exploration are not new to reload. It's just that portable was bad for exploration and downgraded in that sense due to being a portable title I guess.

Rosie, P3 was initially all 3d the cursor navigation was only for the portable version

0:56 .... no, he's off diving :P
I would say Kratos is definitely an anti hero.
Rosie always lightens up every PS Access content!❤❤❤ I also love Ash being the advocate for women in games!
My favourite antihero is Kain from the Legacy of Kain series.

"A hedgehog with a gun" I'm guessing that's a Rosie Quote, love the podcast all :)

Rosie explaining the Yakuza series is unhinged 🤣
I never dived into them before, are they good? My next question is, are they RPG'S or action adventure?

"I was expecting to see more from the towers" is such a Rob comment. Rosie is turning into baby Rob haha.

All the Rockstar lead characters .. Arthur Morgan being the best
Deadpool is definitely an anti-hero.

Let's not even mention the Hunters or the cannibals lol.
I bet Rob wishes he had a real life fast forward button for when Rosie goes on about Yakuza 😂
Kain from the Legacy of Kain franchise!!!!!
I wish they would bring those games back!
@Medic562 right?! Imagine a fromsoft-esque remake!!! 😢 i'd love that so much
Why aren't we funding this?!!! That would be amazing!
Thanks for that Rosie but i still dont know what Yakuza is

"I exploded a man so much bits of him were on the balcony". Rob is a real life anti hero.... And or villain
Note for myself: Don't ever play multiplayer with Rob! He is THE Antihero! 🤪🤣
The main character in prototype! 👍
It's crazy that Rob didn't play Yakuza Like a Dragon considering his love for jrpg's. I genuinely want him to love it too. It's so good
I love that Rob’s bell of frown is a thing now 😊
#PODSquad Rosie admitting that she doesn't know any Taylor Swift songs has me shook! I'd love to know which videogame characters you think could be pop icons like Taylor, and what you think their most popular hit would be called?
For my partner, Emma it would have to be Trevor from GTA V. She was shocked by most of his antics during the game but came to love him in the end.
I love how Last of Us 2 remastered has director commentary over the cutscenes. I already loved the game, but that made me love the game even more.
I would argue Ada Wong and Chloe Frazer could be described as anti heroes! Black Cat too.
ive never played a yakuza game , which one should i start with?
I’d say Yakuza Kiwami. It’s the first one anyway, and the most enjoyable of the six games I’ve played so far. Serves as a great introduction to what Yakuza is without needing to know who half the characters are, as is the case in later entries. It looks great too as it was a complete remake.
Definitely Yakuza 0! & or as Rosie mentioned, the first of the new games with a new set of characters: Yakuza Like a Dragon.
@@felicenaviidad oh ok cheers
😂oh boy! love the LOTR bit so funny rite on
Here we have talk of anti heroes and yet no mention of Velvet Crowe from Tales of Berseria........I must be getting old.....
Why does Rob always seem like he'd rather be anywhere but on the podcast and smooshes in to the couch armrest so much he seems to be trying to get off there.
You just caught me doing a podcast 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Arthur Morgan!!!
It has to be a tie between Kazuma Kiryu & John Marston. Two of my favourite characters of all time.
UNLEASH ROSIE!
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?
I think the brilliance of TLOU2 for me personally is realizing how villainous Joel really was. The first game tries to tell you that, but we only see him doing his best for this girl, so it's easy to forget how self centred and cruel he could be.
Is secret boss……the puppet?
Didn't doom eternal reveal that he's basically the devil?
Captain Asherang? no? i'll show myself out
WHO IS THE SECRET BOSS?! WILL WE NEVER KNOW? Haha
Matt Castle
I look forward to rebirth expanding the Barret and Dyne storyline.
2:50 Surely it should have been Captain BoomerAsh
Finally played Donut County eh Ash? lol
who else is going to do the TekkenWealth double feature
Capt. Robarang
Just trying to live a happy crime life
Captain Boomer Rob
It feels like you've only played/seen persona 3 portable Rosie.
Cause persona 3 original and FES were not top down and just a cursor when exploring.
