Fall 1995 wasn’t Tom Ford’s first runway show for Gucci, but it was the season he really arrived.
The jewel-tone satin shirts unbuttoned to there, the velvet hip-huggers, the horsebit leather loafers with the race car finish.
Paraded down a spotlighted Milan runway by the likes of Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow, and Kate Moss, Ford’s seventies-tinged designs signaled a sexy, super-glam new direction for the previously sleepy brand.
It was one that would earn the early endorsement of Madonna (who wore the collection’s key look to that year’s MTV Video Music Awards), catapult the charismatic Ford himself to fame, and send Gucci’s fortunes skyrocketing.

It’s astonishing how Tom Ford completely revived and defibrillated the dying house. I remember, growing up in Italy, that this show was put on prime time television. It was such a big deal, and in retrospect, was the single decision the brand had made that ensured its survival and stratospheric success. Alessandro Michele had a similar success, but Tom Ford worked utter magic with this collection and it’s advertising and marketing.
the good old days. classic, expensive and u don't get 2 touch. great and timeless outfits, a cast with supermodels, even the samantha's boytoy from the SATC was there. this collection is legendary, iconic and still the moment.
That boy toy is Jason Lewis one of the greatest models of the 90s.
