    I have trialed a method similar to the Marie Kondo Method of decluttering in the past. This RIP Method is an alternative, I have created for people who feel overwhelmed with the idea of leaving clutter out on display. Whilst they decide upon what to declutter. That is, it makes them restless. Making them unable to ‘rest in peace’ in their home.
    I hope to exemplify throughout this video how it is possible to use this 'rest in peace' method even throughout the process of decluttering your home. Resting the pieces of furniture or items away in another area, that also wont be too bothersome. Enabling us to focus on one area at a time. To trial run whether having less stuff in the given area, is something we would like to do. Obviously this will be to a varying degree for everyone concerned, whether it is simply minimal, minimalistic or to the point of extreme minimalism will vary from case to case.
    The idea is that when things are out of sight they can be out of mind and allude to what the home would feel like should you go ahead with the decluttering of the removed items. I then suggest doing the same in reverse if you wish to reintroduce some of the removed items. That is, moving them in one at a time and leaving a considerable pause in time, between each item. Perhaps a full day. So that it is possible to re-establish this new equilibrium of stuff in the space before adding further things.
    It may be that you decide you like it so much without the stuff that nothing is reintroduced. Which, makes for a great alternative also to Swedish death cleaning. So that it is possible to live in a space completely without clutter. Giving our loved ones less of a chore towards the latter end of our lives, in terms of clearing out all our stuff and getting rid of it all. I think this is a great method as a lifestyle choice. Not just as an alternative to swedish death cleaning. We do not have to wait until we are older to start living in this paired down minimalist way. A minimalist lifestyle aids focus, motivation and contentment.

    Great video, as always. Got up at 4 am to watch (NZ time). I use this method of decluttering all the time. I enter a room as though entering it for the first time, and anything that catches my eye, or looks wrong, or I think is surplus to requirements gets put into a box, which I then put in my garage (we luckily have big garages over here). After about 6 months, if I haven't needed anything from the box, I ring my local charity shop and they come and collect it (yes, they come and collect it). Out of sight often does mean out of mind. Personally, I hope you don't get rid of the bowl - it's gorgeous. If you do, I would happily give it a good home❤❤❤

    Granted I am not actually experiencing your space or your needs etc, but my eyeballs when viewing from the camera as you show things around....would like to see the jute rug back (as it matches the woody cabinet top, the coat hook etc. and then I'd move the hats and keys to the cabinet drawers! I'm not a fan of the little things being so visible. Such fun to see how you go about it all though! Also always inspires me! 😊

      Thank You ☺️ However the hats would definitely not fit in the cabinet draws. It’s only about 6 inches wide. My partner also keeps his sunglasses and belts in there so no space. 😊

      @@SagelifeMinimalism It's such fun to watch how you'll downsize all the way to when you finally travel or leave. I'm sort of doing that but for vanlife as a snowbird (Canada to southern U.S.) for 6 months. You start realizing for sure how very little we actually need!

    This is similar to- but more extreme- than “quieting” a space for decor. I can’t remember who came up with it. I know Dawn from Minimal Mom did a video on it. I liked the idea, but I like your ‘RIP’ even more. I look around my place after watching 2 of your videos, and holy cow do we have a lot of stuff out.
    Love your accent!

    I’ll have to give this RIP method a try. ❤
    I think your entryway looks better… lighter & larger… without the throw rug. 🍃🕊️

    I like the idea of the RIP method! 💛As you said, it would take the pressure off by removing an object without having to make any definite decisions in the moment about it. Then over several days/weeks seeing whether its absence is missed from the space or not. I think this is an especially good idea for higher value items that take more thought. It also may help to avoid any regret that could come from getting rid of such an item too quickly and without proper consideration.

    You could hang the hats on a hook under the coat to hide them and put the keys in the top drawer of the cabinet.

      Unfortunately I could, but my partner wouldn’t 😂 He likes quick access to stuff. I did slightly change the hat area however at the end of the Getting Rid of my clothes Video. (Last Thursday’s) 😊

    Turn the Vacuum over and check the brush there might be hair tangled up in it and trim all that away with scissors and your vacuum might work better. I do it a couple times a year.

      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I’ve tried everything I’ve had the whole vacuum in pieces 😂 emptied filters etc. it seems to be the suction. It will get small things but not slightly larger heavier things. 🤔

    In college here in the US, I felt like everyone around me smoked!
    My bf used to, now he vapes, but he says because it's water vapor, it isn't as bad as smoke. IDK!
    I like that tiny cactus. Lol I have one on my desk.

      Honestly 😂 🚬 I’ll be out with a group of my friends and all of a sudden realise. I’m sat on my own - where is everyone ‘having a cig’ 😂 Funny not funny. Nobody seems to worry about their health. But I won’t be a nag either. It’s their life and their health. The cactus man is quite cute but he’s so small he keeps getting knocked off stuff 😂 🌵

    May I ask where your hallway grey mirror and cabinet are from? (Also, love how inviting and clean it looks with that area declutter!)

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The grey mirror I got off Facebook marketplace but I think the back says wayfair. I got the cabinet off Amazon as we have to order some flat pack furniture occasionally to be able to physically get it up our narrow staircase. Thank You 😊

    Does your apartment have carpet immediately upon entering the door? Is there no hard floor landing? I couldn’t see in the video. Since you mentioned the jute rug was for protecting carpet, I’ve had an idea on that. You know those firm clear plastic mats that go under rolly office chairs to protect floors? What about having an appropriate size mat like that there. It would be clear and less of an eyesore, and would be easy to wipe down.

    • @SagelifeMinimalism

      Thank You ☺️ I’ve decided to just to go without rather than buy anything new as we may not be here that much longer 😊 good idea though

      The cactus man also roams about 😂 abit like my Buddha. I move him on a weekly basis - but he’s leaving soon 😂 🌵
