I remember watching this game on a web browser in Iraq with no audio or video, just a line of text per play. When the game ended I kept smashing the refresh button to make sure before celebrating. Good times.
First time he ever said "Its a great night to be a Mountaineer, wherever you may be!". When I heard that I thought I thought Tony you just said your signature line forever. Includes all the Mountaineers no matter where you may live at the moment. Perfect!
I remember this game like it was yesterday we had the whole house shaking I remember tears streaming down my face!! It began a great decade for Mountaineer football
No TV coverage so heard this iconic call live, listening outside on my car radio at a family party. Everybody else was inside and I was getting some flack for not socializing. By the end most were outside around my car. White, Slayton, Schmitt, etal were awesome! Pretty much the start of an era. Interesting note- there were a few other great games that day between marquee teams, so our game basically got the "and in other news" treatment on sport center.
I was a 7 year old fresh and ready die hard Louisville fan in the making that traveled to Morgantown with my family to see this game, I’m almost 20 now and this game still haunts me. This game fully got me invested in college football and for that I’m thankful, other than that this day is burned into my heart and mind. Btw I think it was this game but not positive since I was so young, but I do remember earlier in the game the onside kick by WVU didn’t go 10 yards...
This was a homecoming game I remember leaving early in the 4th quarter after being down 24-7. You could hear the crowd erupt all the way by the mountainlair. Once I was back to the car the radio says we tied them. I dont ever leave a game early after that one.
I watched at home but a friend of mine was there and left when we trailed by so much . Then he started hearing the cheers . He had to listen from outside the rest of the game . Lol😂

Me too!!
Nevermind, wrong game lol.
With Tony Caridi broadcasting... It doesn't get better than that!

This is the game that made me become a fully invested Mountaineers fan and haven't looked back since.

I remember this game well. One of my favorite games I've ever attended. Being in the stands when we stopped them in triple overtime was deafening.
I miss having such a dominant offense. Haven’t had as good of an O line since Trickett was here. Power spread football with a mobile QB.
My father and I went to that game...so glad we stayed. Well worth it.
Heard Van Halen Right Now in the stadium. Fitting.
