@thevillelova93 There was a time when those teams almost single handedly kept the Big East relevant. Rutgers, Cincinnati, Uconn, and South Florida had their moments as well. It was pretty competitive during this time.
That Steve Slaton run was the fastest I've ever seen a RB break through the line for a big run. I remember the air getting sucked out of the stadium once he hit the 50. This win, though? A Top 3 football moment for me since I got on campus and became a fan in 2001 -- probably the Florida Sugar Bowl win, then the FSU win in '02, with this win and the 2016 FSU win neck and neck for #3.
l'ville fan here and my brother iz a wv fan so yes we miss this game! the rivalry ended in both basketball & football with very close but cardz win!! wv alwayz tuff!
This louisville football team is the greatest team we had ever in my opinion. Thats even without Bush can only imagine if Bush played the whole season.
@jacobskeeters972 I've always said the same thing. Bush would have helped us get by Rutgers and we'd have destroyed Ohio State in the National Championship.
I'll miss it too. Great short lived series we had going and it was a real series (win some lose some). WV got the shaft big time with the realignment so now they're stuck going 1500 freakin miles to away games! Nothing in common with the Big 12. They belong in the ACC with the Cards. I'm hoping some day the ACC will get them back on this side of the coast where they belong but I'm not holding my breath. Go Cards!
but it was arguably the biggest win in Louisville football history at the time, we were hyped up by knowing we have a great chance at a National Championship after the game.
Looking back now it was obvious the biased BCS was gonna snub us even if we beat Rutgers but it was fixed just to assure the outrage against the bcs and ncaa wasn't too bad.
@@Kddoggx2002 there's an argument that the Big East was the 2nd best conference that season, I don't think they would've snubbed an undefeated Louisville team. I use 2007 as a support for this simply because the Big East was about the same strength wise in 2007 and they would've played in the ship if they won against Pitt. The Big East really killed itself by not having those 2 straight years in the championship.
Louisville doesn't deserve to play a program like West Virginia if they can't beat Kentucky consistently. Kentucky's football program is hot certifiable garbage!
@Starlin Castro Elvis Dumervil wasn't on this Louisville football team! He left and went to the NFL after Louisville lost to Virginia Tech in the Gator Bowl after the 2005 season. So it looks like you're the dumb ass.😆
+Kendell Pitts. Yeah? It took 4 seasons to reach a nadir. The football success is actually even more consistent than it had been in the Big East. You could also argue that it has been for basketball, too.
I hated when the fans ran on the field at the end. We're not suppose to do that at Louisville, no matter what sport it is. Plus, we were ranked #5 at the time. It wasn't even an upset.
Joe johnny and family is going for a great weekend and family love ❣️❣️😘 All of them ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ dearly love you 👄👄👄💕💕 Louisville Kentucky and friends 🙏💕💕💕💕💕 Louisville John medley
MrMountaineer77 ohhh so had WVU not lost to USF then it would've been a 3 way tie and whoever had the highest BCS ranking would've gone onto the Orange Bowl, right?
Edward Richardson Rutgers had lost to Cincinnati Bearcats, so the loss to WVU was their second. Louisville and West Virginia would have been the only 1 loss Big East Conference teams. Louisville was higher in the rankings in December of 2006. Unfortunately that means the Mountaineers would still not have received the BCS invite that year.
As a Mountaineer, I miss those games. The good ole days! Hope all is well, Louisville
Indeed things are looking up hope all is well for you all. We always have these memories
As a Louisville fan, I wish our teams were still in the same conference. UL- WVU games were battles
@thevillelova93
There was a time when those teams almost single handedly kept the Big East relevant. Rutgers, Cincinnati, Uconn, and South Florida had their moments as well. It was pretty competitive during this time.
Wish we could still play wvu. Good rivalry in both bball and football
You shouldnt have helped destroy the Big East

They were very good. I was a WVU fan but rooted for Louisville when they played Wake Forest in the BCS. Always liked them.
If Bush doesnt break his leg, we win the national championship
@jacobskeeters972
I've always said the same thing.
Bush would have helped us get by Rutgers and we'd have destroyed Ohio State in the National Championship.
One of my all time favorites. Next to FSU, rain game. The atmosphere was amazing for the blackout.
I Tf og😮ry
I was at that game with my late Dad. Best football game we’ve been to. It was cold as hell, but I think most of the stadium was standing a lot
Them were the days! Love the big East. Go cards!
i'll never forget this night. thanks for posting.
Pat White, Steve Slaton, Tavon Austin… truly was one of the most fun WVU teams to ever watch
This one hurt....ugh. Gonna miss this series.

1:16:30 "Does Rutgers become a spoiler?" :(
Man... Ruck Futgers...
Ryan Gallagher fucked that player that jumped offsides when they missed the field goal than getting to do it again and making it
j brook that was players name was Gay.
I have a feeling had he not jumped offsides he would have made it.
Indeed

@@EcIipseHD they most definitely would have snubbed us. Wasnt this the same year that a 2 loss lsu team played in the championship?
Those were the days!!
If the UK/UOFL rivalry ends in the future, I would love to start playing WVU again.
That'll never end but I'll love to see a UofL/WVU riveraly and a UofL/Cincinnati riveraly again

If you weren't there in that Cold...you were glued to your seats! Great game for 3 quarters, but the Cards just outdid the 'Eers in the 4th.
If only Michael Bush didn't get hurt... we probably would've been national champs that year.
Louisville's not beating Ohio State with that suspect defense in 2006-07. Petrino never had a good defense any year.
@Starlin Castro Elvis Dumervil wasn't on this Louisville football team! He left and went to the NFL after Louisville lost to Virginia Tech in the Gator Bowl after the 2005 season. So it looks like you're the dumb ass.😆
@@nationalchampions we found out OSU was very suspect and overrated. Petrino would've feasted on them like Miami.
I hope Louisville does good in the ACC :)
They were going to be just fine because there isn't much of an adjustment for football.
2-10 in 2018.
+Kendell Pitts. Yeah? It took 4 seasons to reach a nadir. The football success is actually even more consistent than it had been in the Big East. You could also argue that it has been for basketball, too.
They doing not too bad especially when they first started

Louisville has 0 national championships. They're suppose to run on the field after beating the #3 ranked team in the NCAA at that time.
YEAR of the DAWGS
Down, boy.
My dear friend Thomas #30 for Louisville forcing the fumble as a true freshman on primetime
RIP #43 Louisville Abe Brown
I was at this black out game!
Blackout game. Sweet Go Cards!
2:47:37 mark. Beast mode open field tackle ..
I’m just trying to figure why was this not a Saturday night matchup game I never understood that good game though.

2:26:50 WHOA
sooooooooo many fumbles.
That 2013 Sugar Bowl sucked 🤣🤣🤣
And then Rutgers dropped 'em the next week!
How did Louisville get the Orange Bowl bid? Louisville beat WVU, Rutgers beat Louisville & WVU beat Rutgers.
WVU lost to USF also that season.

Edward Richardson Plus, West Virginia lost in head to head competition.
WVU beat WVU in this game.
Injuries beat West Virginia this game.
#butthurt
Go cards let’s beat Mississippi state
Mississippi State spanked Louisville.
Wvu out of place in the big12
West Virginia gets their butt handed to them every season by Oklahoma.
