Loved this !! We just had our family reunion this past weekend at my great grandparents old farm .my family has been having this reunion for 70 years .
Happy you got to go back home and see family and share memories and make new memories. On the day you was born I was a senior in high school and was out of school from the effects of a blizzard that hit Southern Indiana and Kentucky. Enjoyed all of the videos from your trip back to childhood home.
Thanks for sharing your hometown and family with us Shawnasi. Thank you for sharing this personal and private side of your life. It was nice getting to meet your family. It helped us to get to know you even better.Where you lived as a child looks just like the area that we live in. We live in farmland with alot of farms , cornfields and rolling hills. There is nothing better than country living. In my area we have alot of John Deere, New Holland and Farmall tractors, but my favorite is Farmall.
Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching. Derrick suggested we put this video together, and we wanted everyone to get to know more about my background. Thanks for your comment.
I loved watching this video. I'm so happy that you got to see your family. Love the farms and really appreciate our farmers! I would love to spend more time with my cousins so glad you had the opportunity to.
There is nothing more fun than seeing family again. I live far from my family as well, and it’s always fun to go back. Memories are what shape us into who we are. You have a wonderful heritage there in Minnesota ❤️ thank you farmers!
This looked like a fun trip. Always nice to get to see family. That is some huge farm equipment. The farms are beautiful, everything looked so neat and clean. The cabin at the lake looked like the perfect spot. Loved the photos. Very nice video, I enjoyed this a lot.
This was a great video! What a loving family you have there! I cannot get over how huge these farms are and all the gigantic equipment it takes to run the farm. I hope it's not another 20 years before you get to return and visit these folks again.
We plan on going back more often than that. After her grandparents passed, it was hard for her to go back. Then when she lost her mom last year, she wanted to reconnect with everyone from up there. And yes, the farms are very impressive.
@NCMemoryMakers I can sympathize with her. 6 months ago today, I lost my mom, and 11 months before that, I lost my dad. It's hard to go back to their house and go inside. Staying connected to remaining family becomes more important after your parents are gone.
@lynnjefferson222 So very true. We are so very sorry for your loss, as well. It's been a tough thing for her to go through, the past 16 months. Probably the worst time she had on this trip, was when we visited her grandparent's grave for the first time. The last time we were up there, was just a few days before her grandmother passed. I had to kind of take over the talking towards the end of that clip. But very glad we got to go up there.
@NCMemoryMakers I teared up at that part, too. We've not really 'lost' them if they knew the Lord. We know exactly where they are. This is just a temporary separation. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. Keep the great videos coming!
Super neat video thanks for sharing. Such a fun trip. I spent last week at Oak Island, NC. My sister and I went to Calabash for lunch at Beck’s. Our waitress had worked at Ella’s. She told us the insurance from the Ella’s fire wasn’t enough so there is a lawsuit. Ella’s still looks like the fire was last week. During lunch my sister and I talked about Buckee’s coming to Mebane. When we got ready to leave a women sitting behind us had on a Buckee’s tshirt. I went over and told them we were talking about Buckee’s. The 2 women were sisters from Boone. On their way to Myrtle Beach 🏖️ they went to Buckee’s in Florence SC just to experience Buckee’s. They didn’t know NC was getting its 1st Buckee’s at Mebane.
Thank you for watching. Glad you got to go and eat at Beck's. We had a really good experience there back in May. I do hope Ella's rebuilds. That was our go-to favorite. I had heard about Buc-ees coming to that part of eastern North Carolina, but wasn't sure if it was true. Glad to know that it is. That's still several hours east of us, though.
@@NCMemoryMakers yes I am. I definetly recognized some names. I was watching some smoky mountain videos of yours before but never seen the kimball one suggested.
@@JG90984 Yes, Shawnasi's aunt by marriage, is Tammy Konz. She was mayor of Kimball a few years back. Most of her aunts and uncles are still in the Kimball/St. Cloud area. They all have the last name "Konz". Her grandparent's farm (now uncle's farm) where she spent most of her early childhood, is right off of Highway 8, directly across from Pearl Lake. She has another uncle who lives off of Highway 15, just south of Kimball.
Has nothing to do with being "country". That's not the way we had it planned to do it. Maybe consider the possibility that there were extenuating circumstances, like an abusive stepfather. Check out our video called "Our Journey Together". We go into a little more detail there.
While her mom is from Minnesota, her dad is from West Jefferson, North Carolina. We're not sure where her mom and dad actually met. Her mom had already moved out of Minnesota, and we think it was somewhere out west. They moved back to Minnesota for a time, but then ultimately moved to North Carolina, where his family was. But they were living in Minnesota, at the time that Shawnasi and her two sisters were born. Shawnasi's younger brothers were born here in North Carolina. If you will check out our videos of West Jefferson from last October, you will see where we went up and visited his grave, and the area that he grew up.
Cool. I love West Jefferson. I was born in Jefferson because it was the nearest hospital. We lived in White Top, VA. Have you ever been to White Top or Mount Rogers? Beautiful area. I live in flat FL and miss the mountains.
Fun to see😊 thanks

Ok that is the most beautiful farm and so well kept !!! It is Hugh and clean so I pressed by your family
We agree. It had been so long since we had been there, but we were so impressed by how neat he has it. Thank you for your kind words.

What a nice video you guys I am from the Midwest but never went to Minnesota!!!!
What part of the Midwest are you from?
Watching from kimball mn. The sign on the picture got me to watch after watching smoky mountain videos
Oh, wow! You are from Kimball?
That is amazing. If so, you may know some of her family.

Why did her family move here?
I was going to ask the same thing!

Lovely place but not in Winter! brrrrr....
Tough in winter, that's for sure.
