  • Stories of the Three Nephites from the Assorted Gems of Priceless Value. The book has a section of stories relating to this topic. The video starts with one of the earliest accounts, that of David Whitmer, who along with Joseph Smith encountered a man on his way to Hill Cumorah whom Joseph later identified as one of the Three Nephites.

My ancestors settled Heber and Midway in the 1860s. Their names are on the plat of the old Heber fort as spending the first winter there.
So hearing about the Heber Valley and the hot pots in Midway, utah, was a bonus along with the story.

It's a beautiful landscape and heritage, I agree.

Great witness of the restored Gospel thanks for sharing. My wife's great grandmother shortly after arriving in the valley from Scotland was tasked to take the cows from the barn out to the meadow to let them graze. A large swift moving storm appeared suddenly up in the mountains above her. The men fearing that a fast moving flash flood might come on down; so they started out looking for 9 year old Satie. They found her and all the 7 cows safe. They saw where the flash flood did come down from the mountain and its destructive path right where Satie and the cows where! They wondered and asked her how did she escape the flood. She said a long bridge appeared and a voice told her to take the cows and get onto the bridge. She told them once on the bridge the water went under it, saving her and the cows.

Wonderful presentation! I have a question about it though. Where are the three nephites now days? Shouldn't they be conversing with our prophet, seer and relevator, Russel M Nelson? And shouldn't he tell us what they said once in a while? I just haven't heard much from the pulpit about this. Thanks again for the information!

They never have a permanent location, nor is that necessary for anyone to know. This question has been coming up more and more lately. I'm sorry, I do not see why they would be visiting and conversing with anyone right now. "Should" is a relative concept. These stories always present their benevolent side, but they also have a side to them capable of delivering a sharp and powerful rebuke. If you have ever been in their path this way there is no way you would want to see them face to face nor converse with them face to face. If you knew the serious side they have, that side which will strike the fear of God within you, you would prefer they go away and not return.

@@thelatterdayteacher Hi...I am sorry but I can surely see why they would be communicating with the Prophet or should be. How else does he get his orders unless our lord and savior talks to him all the time...I look at it as they are pretty special people along with our prophet . and lord and savior Jesus Christ. How do they blend in with the people of this world I have to wonder, if their appearance is different and they look different than others look? I heard they would be among the Jews and the Jews dont know who they were or something like that..... I think it is in the bible...but I am not a smart man. To tell you the truth, the only stories I have heard lately is that they deliver pies to soldiers from the soldiers mothers. But thats might be a rumor. ha ha keep up the good work.

it's a fun story, like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster or something. it's not 'real' of course these 3 wondering people, but a fun make-believe tale.

So let's ask, have you ever seen anything of had anything occur to you in your life which had no good explanation? Do you live your life like this: Everything you encounter is either explainable, predictable or it is a figment of your imagination?

@@thelatterdayteacher Yes weird and hard to explain things have happened...but just because I don't know why doesn't mean I think it is the boogie man, a fairy, an elf, 3 lamenties, Apollo or Thor somehow appearing to help me. 300 years ago you would have been telling me some elves in the mountains were real and helping me out, now it's the lamenties...but the same fictional story tail for both.
If you want to believe in say the lochness monster or whatever go for it- it's kinda fun believing in all that stuff.

The man in the first story was Moroni, and he was not one of the three Nephites.

This is a vagery in Church History. Johnathan Neville has researched on this point. His findings are given in "What Happened to the Golden Plates"

WAS it the resurrected Moroni or was it a translated of The Three Nephites?
To me it seemed instructive to lookup a faithful video by Nephite Explorer: "What Happened to the gold plates?" Much of the information comes from Jonathan Neville.

Let me get this right .a bunch of Jews built a couple of boats and sailed from the Middle East to South America and met Jesus? Right.

So I am wondering what you mean by "bunch" and the context of "boats". Perhaps you can elaborate a little on what specific time or time period you are referring to, maybe there is a specific story you have heard to repeat this thing you heard on this comment thread? May I infer by the tone of of your comment that you are an atheist? Or if you are not an atheist, could you set us straight on how the deity whom you worship operates? I implore you to share your truth here, enrich humanity by enlightening us with your knowledge, lead us to the light where you stand. Thank you
