The High Street is a shadow of its former self. I remember it when I was wee buzzing with folk, but that was in the days of the likes of Woolies and John Menzies. There was also a brilliant book shop just off the High Street called The Book House but that too is long gone. It's sad, but hopefully, regeneration will restore it to its former self. Many a happy day spent there. Thanks for this.
Thank you so much for visiting the Adam Smith Heritage Centre! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your time with us. 😊 Please do stop by again whenever you're in the area-we’d love to welcome you back! Adam Smith Heritage Centre Team :)
Kirkcaldy has lots to offer with coastal paths, beaches, and lovely parks. It's a shame the high street nowadays, it used to be so thriving. Thanks for sharing and making. X
The only way to solve High St is to get rid of the pedestrianization and open it back up to traffic with short stay free parking.......I know there is now free parking for 1 hour since this week in the Merchants Quarter for a trial period - Hopefully it can become permanent and extended to 2 hours.........My friend has a shop in High Street - Im in Kirkcaldy 2 or 3 times a week.....Nice drive from Dundee.
Sir Sanford Fleming came to Canada and worked in the railway,he came up with the Standard Timezone idea in Canada,we are currently phazing them out throughout our provinces nowadays. There are also 4 Sir Sanford Fleming college campuses here in Ontario. Thanks Scotland❤
The High Street is dire. The very definition of “post industrial malaise”.While the seafront has had a lot of work done the hideous car park for the largely empty Mercat Centre is a real eyesore-worthy of Cumbernauld itself. There are, however, positives about Kirkcaldy-it just takes a wee bit of a search to find them.Great video.
I think we all need to rub the peace rock. Between the wars and this US Presidential election, we all need some peace. Thank you for taking me away from the chaos and sharing the sights with us.
@sheliaheverin8822 my next episode is especially peaceful , I think you will enjoy it. There's no politics when you're out in nature and scotlsnd is 90% nature.
Scotland's first Motorcycle Grand Prix was held at Beveridge Park in 1948 - Racing thrived until closure in 1988 due to health and safety regulations !

Yeah, I think it's a lot to do with the cost of rent for high street locations. Still lots to be positive about
