First off, thank you for actually stating that this is not a corset. That term is just thrown around so incorrectly these days. What you’ve actually made is a bustier.
You’ve done very well for a student. Let me offer you a couple of tips from someone who’s been a professional costumer and taught design for over 25 years to help you on your way.
You should put twill tape along the entire neckline and you should interface the neckline. With a fitted garment like this, the back neckline will also continue to stretch and eventually be completely out of shape.
You should also include boning at the center back edge. It should be set between the back edge and the eyelets. This will keep the back from collapsing when when you lace it. There should also be interfacing under the eyelets. After a few wearings the eyelets will start to pull out. Especially in satin.
FYI, the tool for the eyelets is called an anvil.
Best of luck in your fashion career!! Cheers!!

Thank you very much for both the compliments and the advice! I did not think about adding boning to the back edge - I will definitely do that next time (I was not happy with the ripples in the back!).
I have one question please: When you say interface the neckline, what kind of interfacing do you suggest and where along the neckline?
Also, I actually did add the twill tape along the entire neckline AND interfacing where the eyelets were, but clearly did not include that in the video??? Not sure whats wrong with me, but I actually don't even think I got that on video so HOPEFULLY people will read your comment!!!
I am grateful for all your advice!!

one month ago this video appeared in my recommended (even though I've never sew anything) and I got so interested.
I live in a small town far away from all the trends and originality of clothing, so to find something like this is very difficult and expensive. But you encouraged me to learn how to use a sewing machine and I DID THE CORSET!
OMG it's so beautiful I want to cry! I'm so thankful💕🥺
finally I can live my jane austen fantasy (I know it isn't historically accurate, but it makes me feel like that hdjahaja)
So, again, THANK YOU SO MUCH💕😭

For this pattern, although I am a size 8-10, I just added 1 additional back piece to the back of both sides and it works fine since it is a corset/bustier top, so if you want to use this pattern but it's in a size too small for you, I suggest doing that :)))))

I’m DEFINITELY giving this top a try!! Thx so much for pattern just FYI- I’m REALLY small busted- I think the top lends itself super well to tacking in form cups/booster pads 👍🏼👌🏽 Will try it (or holders for my gel pads!) so I’m doubly excited as I can wear ‘look’. I collect vintage, velvet blazers/jackets w/ wider-the-lapel the better! A la 70s Mick & Bianca Jagger! Typically I wear ruffled shirts under the jkts- but excited to try version of your top. Just going to alter by making it tuck in a bit (yikes-I’m 57, hate looking like I’m TRYING to look young!!) just love fashion!! Great vid stumbled onto you-SUBSCRIBED! 👍🏼🌻 Annick in DEN

    Hi there Kiana,
Thanks first for this video on a good quality bustier top. I really enjoy watching your videos, especially as I’m a starting fashion student as well and am still learning a lot.
So yeah also, I have a question about the use of fabric. Do you have an idea of how much fabric you used for this DIY? Cause as I’m a starting student I sometimes still struggle to make a guess on how much fabric to buy at the fabric store for a specific project. So if you know the approximate amount of fabric you’ll definitely need for this project in meters or centimeters it would be great.
Thanks in advance & keep making these helpful videos!
