KNOW YOUR HgA1c to determine risk of HEART ATTACK, STROKE OR DYING OF HEARTATTACK OR STROKE. This paper documents that STATINS offer ZERO RISK BENEFIT!!!! DIABETES NOT CHOLESTEROL WILL KILL YOU. my cardiologist prescribed statin for me and I told him I wanted more tests before I do. He poo-pooed doing a CAC test and said he already knew how the test would come out and he would still prescribe the statins. He actually said "I'm the doctor and you need to do this if you don't we're going to have trust issues" I guess he doesn't realize trust is a two way street. Now i'm on the hunt for a new cardio doc.

CAC tests only measure calcified plaque only in the coronary arteries, it does not measure soft plaque throughout the body. A score of 0 doesn’t mean 0 risk.

Thank you for this information, I am a carpenter in Canada that stopped taking statins 2 years back and have had great health improvements since then and eating carnivore with some fruit. Large list of improvements.. It has been obvious to me the carpenter for 2 years that low carb and a clean diet is the best option, most people don’t want to here this information and I have been shockingly insulted for my opinion. Especially when I suggest that sugar is one of our greatest problems. Thank you for your time.

Low dose stains have been shown to have some benefit, thought to be from anti-inflammatory effects.
      But otherwise, yes, 100%.

I hadn't talked to him in several years when he told me about the bypass. I said to him my suspicions about sugar being the problem and said to him "I guess the have put you on a statin now" and that they are not effective. His reply was "I've been on statins since I was 35 years old" I promptly said. "Well you shouldn't have needed a bypass then". I have been trying to get to people that its the sugar and insulin resistance that is damaging your arteries but nobody is listening. My own doctor is insistent that I go on a statin and I just ignore him.

Well Doc, when we meet in June you will know more about myself and your impact. Recently just retired and will take a year to get my heath back before I start a new career. Bio as follows
48yr male. June 12th 2023 was 486lbs, high blood pressure. Yes addicted to carbs and junk food, not diabetic but most likely insulin resistance knocking on diabetes door. Blood work not great. 290 cholesterol and fatty liver. A1C was 5.9. I decided to try online health service to get Mounjaro from hearing stories. PCD wouldn’t prescribe when asking because of my A1C was good. I decided to cut carbs down big time, started eating healthy Whole Foods. Absolutely no processed food. I stared at the box of Mounjaro in the fridge. Took several weeks to get the courage to give myself a shot. Last week in June tried it, was really helpful in my food chatter while making proper decision's(first week the inflammation was down so much, felt 20 years old again). Over the months incorporated MCT oil in coffee in the morning. Started 2 meals a day. Noon and before 6pm. At the end of October, started intermittent fasting and realized I was really doing a keto diet. I have never went above 5mg of Mounjaro, and I stretch the shot out to 8-9 days. Been incorporating carnivore and more fat this past month.
Today I weighed 366, A1C 5.1, cholesterol down to 220, blood pressure 108-118 over 68-76. Heart rate from 97-104 down to 68-74. PCD now realizes Mounjaro helped me, wants me to start taking Statins because he wants Cholesterol down under 200, didn’t before. I won’t take it. He also wants me to titrate up to 15mg Mounjaro. Won’t budge from 5mg, it’s working, I won’t abuse it. So my appointment is with you June 2024, I feel confident you will steer me in the final chapter of getting my health finalized and come up with my exit strategy to get off Mounjaro. Also my inflammation is down, walking 1-3 miles 2-4 times a week, started light weight lifting. When I see you in June, hopefully I will be around 250lb-270lb and will be guided by you in my health journey.thx

I want to lose 30-40 more in this year. My A1C is 5.8 as of a month ago. My lipid panel shows a reduction into normal range in every category except LDL and total cholesterol. My regular dr prescribed Prevastatin but I quit taking it after less than a month. I don’t want to take meds if at all possible. I asked to see a cardiologist to get more in depth bloodwork-ApoB, LPa, CAC and a liver scan. ApoB is higher than I expected, LPa is low, CAC score is 6. Cardiologist prescribed Crestor and has scared the crap out of me by saying the statin will stabilize the plaque and reduce inflammation and risk of a cardiac event. I don’t want to take it as it will more than likely undo all the progress I’ve made towards reversing my diabetes. I feel relieved to have found this channel and I will be contacting you for medical advice.

Hi doc, thanks. Im a 63yo Australian man, who has had a couple of stents and ended up fat sick bloated on heart meds. I jumped into carnivore 9mths ago, and lost 70lbs so far, cured arthritis, ibs, gastric reflux, depression, anxiety, prostate problems, joint pain, sleep apnoea, inflammation, t2 diabetes and a host of smaller issues. My physical and mental health is nothing short of magical. Im now back in the workplace shaming guys half my age. I kicked all my meds eventually, but statins were the first to go. I researched them thoroughly, as a non medical person, and could see the obvious corruption and profiteering steering us away from sugar towards cholesterol. I have lost faith in the medical profession. If i can work it out, surely other doctors can. Either they are lieing, or they know less than i do about metabolic health. Either way, not very encouraging. I would imagine the boys at big pharma will talk to the boys at big med about "shutting this doctor up". Bit like covid. When the kind of profits we are talking about here at at play, profit becomes the driver, not truth or patient care. Watch your back, and thanks again. I wasn't certain I was on the right track, but now i am.

Right on, Dr. Cywes! My PCP has been trying to scare me into taking a statin, and was displeased when I told him what you're saying here: That there's no absolute proof that statins are of benefit. Yes, they reduce LDL, but that isn't everything.
My total cholesterol is 235, HDL is 59, LDL is 140 and triglycerides at 54. The A1C was 5.2. I'm 64, male, not overweight, and in good health. Active, pushups, squats, long brisk walks.
I think my doc wants to prescribe stuff because that's his calling, and he keeps telling me to cut way down on fats. Sadly, the medical system has become a factory/assembly-line thing. Most doctors are employees of large corporations, don't spend more than 10 minutes on a patient because they need to see so many in a day.

I had two different strokes two weeks apart about a year and a half ago due to a dissected left vertebral artery around C1... I was told I would have to be on a statin for the rest of my life. When I asked the doctor why she basically said that's just what you have to do after you have a stroke.
I laughed at them and still haven't taken a statin to this day.

Cholesterol only hurts you if inflammation causes it to stick to your vessels. I've had high cholesterol and high triglycerides all my life. I take a fenofibrate for triglycerides but refuse to take a statin. My Dr sent me for a cardiac calcium CT scan about a year ago. I am 54 yrs old and have zero detectable calcification in my heart arteries. My Dr was completely stunned. He said that was proof of 20 years of good heart health with that one test. I have one side of my family that has zero heart disease and one side with mild heart disease.....I think I take after the first group.

I'm a general practitioner for almost 60 years and I totally agree with you over the use of statins. We doctors have been so ingrained in us all these years that statins will lower your cardiovascular risks. Now we doctors have to spend more time reading on recent researches to help our patients. I have already started on "educating" my patients it will take time but I know that the reward is I have passed the knowledge to them as so many of my colleagues have not done so as the Pharma companies has and it's still doing so with fantastic monetary rewards

Dr Paul Mason of Low Carb Down Under has some great videos on statins and LDL. LDL numbers are far more nuanced than most doctors know. In particular, a diet of junk food, and particularly seed oils, results in small, oxidised LDL particles. People on high animal fat, low carb diets tend to have higher LDL numbers, but with an absence of these damaging smaller, oxidised particles. Therefore an LDL particle size analysis is vital when trying to estimate cardiovascular disease risk, altho of course LDL levels are not the best parameter to use for this purpose.

Thank you for explaining everything so well. I had bloodwork done in late October for my physical. I have been strict clean keto since January 11th 2023.
Ive lost about 35 pounds, and in great health other than what my cholesterol levels show to the doctor. Im 62 years old, female, dont smoke, not diabetic, no health issues. I was on a statin for many years, but stopped about 2 months of being on keto. Never felt better. Now my cholesterol is beyond high. The numbers from October total cholesterol is 556, LDL 473, Triglycerides 158, and HDL 51. Of course they want me on a statin. They said it was highest they had ever seen. Soo, I am a little concerned, however I follow you and several others who endorse exactly what you show us about cholesterol. How high can cholesterol be without taking a statin. I hate them, they make me feel terrible. But I am wondering if my numbers are too high, and I actually do need them. Im so confused on what to do.

Most LDL / lipid-heart skeptics caveat their claims with "in the context of high HDL and low triglycerides". Your HDL is higher than some but trigs are also high, and the ratio of over 3:1 is worrisome. It suggests some level of insulin resistance and not only a high LDL concentration but a high LDL particle count. Even Berry would probably be concerned by this picture.
However, further context is key. Also, trigs can fluctuate much more easily than other lipid markers, so you may want to repeat the blood work with a solid 12+ hours of fasting, even a bit more to be sure, and no caffeine beforehand.

My parents have high cholesterol, so I don't know for sure , but I could have familial cholesterol. It really is perplexing to me. My doctor knows I am keto. I have tried to cut back on my fat intake a bit. When I first started keto I did high fat. Now that I am on maintenance, maybe the lower fat intake will help lower the cholesterol. I still use fat. Just have cut it down some.
