Thanks for the tips. Great player, great content. The mistake that I see alot of people make in 1v2s or more is over committing to fights and not using hit-and-run tactics. There seems to be a natural tendency to want to down your opponents as soon as you get solid tags on them/crack them but this often comes with higher risking of trading damage or getting hit by their teammates. Unless it's super safe, I'm always popping in and out of cover, changing elevation, quickly retreating and then be offensive again - anything to disregulate and throw off the other players. I had a game the other day where my duo went down and 5 teams converged at Fencing Fields with us. I used those tactics to pull one of my craziest clutches ever and managed to wipe them all. You can apply the same principles of 1v2 to 1v10 if need be. Just gotta play patient and unpredictably.
Very true had to apply these same tactics in a 1v16 situation one time playing with my wife she died right off rip and I was left by myself it was when theater was in the desert I left that one location with 16 kills and ended the game with 20 total was my first 20 bomb she stayed dead the entire game that day every time I ressed she got killed
Another really helpful video Toby. Thanks! Learning from your situational awareness commentary will be useful toward reducing my dying from surprise! It would also help me for you to emphasize more which class of weapon you're choosing. SG, AR, sniper.
@17:00 Something I noticed while practicing with the Sniper is that if you aim down your site *while behind cover*, when you pop out of cover the placement aligns with the cover and not with the area in the distance you want to shoot toward. It is bad enough that I actually made stickers on the top and bottom of my monitor to give me an idea of where to put my cross hair while behind cover so that I can still do peak shots. It is something to keep in mind while shooting your sniper and using cover.
I’m new to Fortnite and have been watching your videos for the past couple weeks and want to say your tips on staying in cover, baiting, not getting into 50/50 when possible, and weapon switching/load outs have been so helpful for me. Thanks!
Nice vid Toby! Thanks for the tips! I would love to see a chapter 5 meta. Because I’m always scared to not run heals and I don’t know when to drop them for portaforts bush bombs. I also don’t know what would be considered a good amount of mobility. I want to run shocks but they run out quickly. Thanks for the video!
After watching this video i went into duos solo for the first time and placed 2nd then 1st on my second try. Thank you i feel a lot more confident going into these scenarios now
6:21 This part reminded me of Leo Gough's modern interpretation of Miyamoto Musashi's book "The Book Of Five Rings" and Leo compresses Miyamoto's book into his own 52 laws and Leo's book basically teaches these 52 laws for many modern purposes and the 13th one is "Set The Agenda". He quotes Miyamoto "It is bad to be led about by the enemy. You must always be able to lead the enemy about". I really recommend the book because it teaches many rules of how to be a very wise person. Also at 6:45, I'm a bit curious as to why you strafed to the right, then left instead of rushing straight forward to the exit.
Strafing to the right first cuts off the angle that the enemy would have if they went for a quick right shoulder peek shot on me - they would be shooting the wall to try to hit me. It was an evasion move.
Even in Solos I've found myself in the end game where a player has a bot with them, hopefully these tips will give me a better chance. Thanks for the great tips!!
Great vid Toby! I really needed this vid because I struggle to clutch up when my duo is downed, kinda feel hopeless and helpless to them in those moments but now I have some rules to follow and implement. Thanks
This is awesome stuff. I'm a big double mobility guy as well and offensive shockwaves are incredibly useful in a 1v2, but you have to go pretty aggro and keep your head on. Divide and conquer. But if you pull out the auto and just start spraying, it's all over. Me and my Duos partner caught our last 3 dubs 1v2, so we're getting better at it. Anyone have a 1v2 practice map? That's really the move I think.
A big issue I've been having this season is fighting against people in the endgame who stick together and then flank me from all sides. Perhaps you can make a video of how to counter that? Or maybe how to counter overly aggressive players? Love your content though man, definitely subbed!
bought some skins with your code in epic, thanks for all the tips, I see good improvements in my plays after watching you, before I would struggle to even get in top 20, now I'm there practically every game, winning some crowns even
I need to carry mobility items, but I like carrying big meds n sheilds, something for long, medium, and close range (AR, SMG, Shotty) any tips on what I should trade out for mobility?
trade out your smg you don't really need one this season and if you really want one use the striker ar its fire rate is really fast and can compete with smg's in close range and the hip fire is pretty good
@@randomuser-rg7si I liked having something to switch to when I needed to reload my AR just to get a couple bullets off for the knock, but I'll start using fast mags instead of the extended magazine. Thanks gamer 😎
@@Billy_The_Kid- if you need something to switch to when your reloading just relocate use whatever mobility you have to create distance and give you time to reload or play around cover and use cover to help give you time to reload
Me personally, I would stop carrying double health... choose one or the other and then play around it. Most enemies carry some sort of heals. I'd carry shields in the early-mid game and health packs in the late game due to storm. As said before, SMGs are not really worth it - I use a striker AR as my SMG. Mobility is an absolute MUST in Zero Builds if you want to win games consistently. Shockwaves are best, grapple is ok. If you are bad at shockwaves, watch my shockwave mastery video.
was waiting for a edu vid!! eii bro you think u can make a vid of playing styles like do a vid with a aggressive style camping style and cautious style or whatever it would be nice
I win 1 v 4s quite often , my squad and I die and my sweaty son goes on to eliminate the squad , then revives / reboots us ….. I call that a win 😂 Defo the key is distance , I ego way to much , where as my son keeps his cool, creates distance and splits the team, his patience linked with his insane time to kill is key and he knows when to thirst, mainly for heals or just leave knocked.
You can reach an insane skill level on controller. But honestly speaking, there is an extra 5% skill ceiling that just isn't attainable on controller due to the speed at which you can move a mouse and the precision accuracy. Mouse and keyboard is by no means easier though - controller is FAR more accessible and easier to be "good" than m&k. I wouldn't switch to m&k unless you already have the PC for it or you feel like your skill is already very high and near plateau. I was on controller for 20 years and had no plans of switching until my friend got into pc gaming. I was still always top 1% at whatever game I played.

Great video, Toby. I've had so many issues this season and last where I'll have my cross hair aligned, I'll go to ADS, and the game snaps my aim over to the same. It's very annoying and happens all the time on any weapon.
Haven’t played Fortnite since original season 4-5 planning on a 2v2 wit my gf against her siblings n they’re ranked gold Ik they low ranked but I haven’t played in a loooong time am I screwed?

Rarely have I been able to clutch 1v3s. It’s easier in a big building if you have shockwaves and can catch them individually and can finish each fight super fast
I pulled off an insane 1v3 in trios with my friends who got thirsted, cut angles off with a rock, and made 1v1s 3 diff times when I had a max of 150 health including overshield. They all rushed me, but I made it look like I was running away, but I would repeak to get some shots off while jumping into a slide. Won the fight beating the last guy with 43 health, went on to win the game.
Those last 2 actually played it pretty well but it seemed you are more skillfull, ie faster movement awareness and better aim. Tell us what they could have done better and the mistakes they made. I think you were just a better player
