Volvo 940 Water Pump Replacement

Replacing my 1994 Volvo 940 water pump, after changing my heater matrix I notice that my water pump had a slight leak, so thought best to change aswell.
I hope this video might help or encourage people to do work themselves and save on going to a garage!

Is it necessary to have any sealant on the gasket? I noticed some people have done that to their pumps but I don’t know if it’s necessary. How’s the car holding up ever since you got the pump replaced? I’m currently doing mines, same exact year and model as yours

@@JuanJimenez. I think it would be down to personal preference with a sealant, less chance of leaking of course, I don’t own the car anymore, but had no issues at all with it.

good stuff. i have a 940 sedan. did you have to retime the engine after taking the timing belt off? looking to do this job soon as my water pump has a small leak.

Thank you, you don’t need to take off the timing belt only the top cover, so you don’t need to worry about the timing 👍🏻

anyone here with a 2xx/7xx/9xx volvo knows it's the same pump on every red block. the year isn't that important
