Hi bud, Just commented a another video of you. I greatly appreciate your effort for us. I am able to get into this menu and everything is just the same except the "Brake pad replacement" sub menu. It is not there. How comes that? Any suggestions?
@@taylyanorlinov9534 genuinely can’t help there as this is the method stated in the workshop manual! I do know that most diagnostic tools can also set the mode.
@mercedes_and_more I tried it but the icarsoft mb v3 didn't do the job. Is there any posibility of flipping the + & - to make the motor wind back in? Thank you!
Hey if I am trying this and the car tells me fitting position not met what should I do?. I took the caliper pistion off and changed the breaks like you would on a normal car not knowing of this process. Now i cant get the piston to retract in.
Correct. This frees the pads for the discs, although you still need to wind them back in (as per the video). In reality, this is releasing the electronic handbrake in a way that will not allow it to be reapplied during the brake pad change 👍
No. You use this to release the “handbrake” (it clamps the pads on to the disc) and then you proceed as normal to repair the pads/discs like another car. There is a video on how to do the rear brakes on my channel aswell 👍
@@mercedes_and_more thank you. I’ve seen some videos on TH-cam, that said that you always need to set a gear in N, because you can’t get out of break pad replacement mode if you don’t do it. But you have already done it, that’s why I asked you. Thank you for helping
So i said i would Check. Car in park and handbrake on it said conditions not met. So pressed the key again to get all lights on and then released the handbrake. Pressed key start again to go back to ignition and went into fitting mode when asked (car in park). Clearly doing this in N would not be good as the car is free to roll if not on level ground👍
The GLC shares its under pinnings with the C which shares virtually all of its floorplan with the E, so i suspect it will. Even if the sizes were different then the methods of changing would be the same.
Thank you big help. first advice released the handbrake.
Brilliant, this quick video just saved me about 300 quid!
Looking forward to the “cheque in the post!” 😂😂
Thank you! Your video worked for my American model. Cheer!
Glad to have been of help👍
Just want to ask after doing the brake pad release in the dask board do you need to switch off the engine while replacing the pad?
Yes. The engine should not be on anyway. Think this is done in the Ignition position (but you’d have to check the video).
Thanks 👏👏👏

@ there might be but i couldn’t comment if that would actually work, in theory it would. Maybe let us know how you get on!

I’m sorry, i don’t know the answer. Maybe refit the old parts and see if the replacement mode works then refit the new parts?
I had that problem and had to twist the caliper piston inward then Compress it
With a c clamp…
If we dont do this we wont be able to replace rear brake pad?
Correct. This frees the pads for the discs, although you still need to wind them back in (as per the video). In reality, this is releasing the electronic handbrake in a way that will not allow it to be reapplied during the brake pad change 👍

Does this remove the need for a wind back tool
No. You use this to release the “handbrake” (it clamps the pads on to the disc) and then you proceed as normal to repair the pads/discs like another car. There is a video on how to do the rear brakes on my channel aswell 👍
Is this for the rear pads? Do you need to do it for the fronts as well?
Only for the rears 👍
This is way faster then booting up my scanner to put the brakes in service mode...
Any idea of method for the model without the wide screen? 2016 W213
This might help? th-cam.com/video/UrUFpt2IM7c/w-d-xo.html
Do you need to set a gear to Neutral (N) Position?
No you do not need to put it in neutral and can stay in park

Does this E.213 share front brake pads with the GLC 2017 model ?
The GLC shares its under pinnings with the C which shares virtually all of its floorplan with the E, so i suspect it will. Even if the sizes were different then the methods of changing would be the same.
Thank you!! All these other videos are dumb!
I think that’s a compliment? (assuming you don’t mean all of the other ones on my channel🤔)
Does this method work on newest 2023 C series ?
It is very likely as the MBux system that was put in the 213 after the 2020 facelift has the same “hidden menu”.
Helpful thanks
Great to hear. Thanks for the positive feedback 👍
Thanks you very much !!!!!
Thank you 😊
