A Belt weigher (Schenck Process) is used to determine the mass of the material transported on a conveyor belt. The weight of the material transported is determined by weighing the belt load and measuring the belt speed.
The belt speed remains constant while the feed rate is regulated by varying the belt loading if required. Alternatively the conveyor belt can be stopped after a pre-defined volume X has been transported (for example when batching at loading stations).
Two type of Belt weigher:
1) Single weigh scale fly round (Use single carrying idler frame)
2) Double weigh fly round (Use Double carrying idler frame)
Belt weighers are used in production and logistics, for measuring throughput and consumption in production plants, internal balancing of supply and discharge, load limit signalling, batching at loading stations or metering hopper control and legal-for-trade weighing. Belt weighers accuracy is- +/- 0.25 percent.
