A good deep dive into the numbers. I find on my PSMF days if I eat more fish I can reach my protein levels a lot easier than eating anything else. So I am increasing my DHA and EFA at the same time. Thanks for giving me the impetus to try this.

I have been binging on you PSMF videos, and I asked my husband to look for some organic ground chicken and turkey. I could not believe it when the Whole Foods 365 brand ground turkey was not just “turkey.” It contained vinegar, sunflower oil and rosemary! Then, I thought that I had better read the other packages…. The Diestel ground turkey contains vinegar. At least seed oils are not added to the turkey.

The Vinegar and rosemary are not a bad thing. But yes it's surprising what is in various prepared poultry and meats.

Thank you Dr Karl for this extremely helpful information
I love my PSMF lifestyle and I love the way that it makes me feel
The problem I’m still having is my Protein fat ratio
Every time I try to raise my Protein up goes my fat that I try to keep at 30 grams or less
I do Push-ups and sit ups on my vibration platform at least 5 to 6 times a week at 30 minutes each
A year ago I fell and broke my right hip and femur
I’m healing very well and this PSMF and keto lifestyle has helped a lot
So very thankful for all the wonderful information you put out there

I have reactive hypoglycemia and for years I followed what my endocrinologist recommended small frequent meals that include some carbs, protein ands fat. I struggled for years with my blood sugar following that plan recommended by my endocrinologist. I stumbled across low to very low total carb meal plan, Carnivore and I feel my best eating low/very low total carbs, higher protein and moderate fat. My blood sugar is stable all the time eating this way, no more blood sugar roller coaster! My fasting insulin is low/normal as long as I stay low/very low total cards.

Still learning about how to drop fat with PMSF… I reversed my A1c from 10.7 to 5.1 in 90 days on low carb Keto and dry fasting for 72 hours per week.
Now I am using egg white powder and getting my protein up while keeping my carbs and fats low. I have been doing low carb keto 4 days a week and PMSF on the other 3 days.. I have 28% body fat… my lean mass is 180 pounds with a BMR at 2137 calories. I am 55 years old and 6 foot 5 inches tall at 247 pounds as of this evening… ( I use a smart scale to scan my body)
My question is.. can I do a 2-3 week PMSF with a calorie intake of 1300 calories Without messing up my metabolism?

Yes it happens, usually temporarily for most. But it does beg the question of 'to what level ketosis' meaning people who change to psmf to lose the fat they didn't lose on keto ... why is that. It is not that OMG! 'keto' didn't fix me, but rather there are now 2 distinct but related dietary tools you can use to improve yourself metabolically.

After being keto since 2017 PSMF makes a lot of sense for me ...You have very easy and good explanations.
One question please, as I'd like to improve my muscle mass and lose a little fat, what is the main difference between doing PSMF/ Keto diet and usual "fitness diet" with higher carbs + higher protein and low fat?? ...except the body is producing ketones on PSMF/keto...What are the points to consider please? ...I know about many health benefits but you know definitely even more from your practice 😉

    • @DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath
      @DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Short answer: generally the manner most people implement PSMF is with too low protein and not consuming it over 3 - 4 eating events during the day. The way most people implement Keto is is also the same but are having low carbs and high fat.
How I implement PSMF is having the required amount of protein (based on the number of one's 'ideal body weight reference number' and having a portion of that total amount of protein spread over 3 - 4 eating times per day. for keto, we increase our fat percent only. Seldom have carbs but might once in a while.
The calculated amount of required protein is always maintained even during keto days (which we called non-psmf days).

A couple of things to offer (as Dust Storm already knows because he watched them I believe) I've covered your questions (good questions) in previous videos so check the playlist for How to and what to expect. Interesting that the concept of IF comes up often . When I ask people why are they so fond of IF and the usually say because of the autophagy. Well PSMF does equally well with that because it is a FAST, hence the name 'protein sparing modified FAST'. it could be called simply protein sparing fast as well.
The other part of can you do PSMF 24/7 -365? The answer to that is if you are truly having lean sources whole food protein which is hypocaloric and very satiating you are burning your fat for the calories you need.
The reason I recommend people have non-psmf days is because you need some essential fats that primarily come from liver and egg yolk (you could add other organ meats to this list but nearly no one has these) and fat soluable nutrients like D, K1-3, carotinoids, A, E, etc, etc.
Therefore laying out what we call Precision PSMF is a prudent less dangerous method of implementing it in our view.
Judi is far more precise than I am. Some weeks I do the entire week as a 'on days' depending what our stash of leftovers is for the week and if she made any liver paté for me.
Once one knows what they are doing and why it's all up to them to decide what to do. The most aggressive people determined to 'drop' the most fat in the shortest period of time are usually the ones that get into trouble.

@@DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath THANK YOU 🙏 for the in-depth answer! I am going to email you with more questions as I have experienced everything on my journey “self taught,” just listening in depth to folk like Jason Fung, Mindy Pelz, Ben Bikman, etc, - after coming across you & your wisdom I used a “George Foreman Fat Reducing Grill” (road score 2 days before finding your channel (miracle? Happenchance? 😳😂), and began pressing TONS of fat out of the hamburger I’d been routinely eating.
Along with that, I also began eating mackerel or a can of sardines-in-water WITH that hamburger. (I’m strict carnivore only ruminants fatty fish and for the “fat days,” I added local farm YOLKS only), - on the “normal days” I added the whites to the mackerel or sardines, on the “fat days” I did the yolks, both parts of the egg on either days, uncooked.
That was two weeks ago approximately and the results were an almost instantaneous deeper loss of body fat (I’m beginning to see veins on my abdomen, pants are becoming looser almost by the day).
I’m still trying to wrap my head around this as again, I’m flying by the seat of my “ever loosening pants” but not feeling ill or deprived or weird (in fact I seem to have 500% more energy than the last 2.75 yrs of keto/carnivore). But I haven’t gotten deep enough into your guides to know precisely the regimen to follow. (I’ll do that, I don’t want you to spend your valuable time reiterating to me something I ought look up myself).
I mainly wanted to know if there was a symptom of “going too far” with the extremely lean hamburger (it gets so drained of fat in that grill it’s almost like jerky), that would clue me in to the need to “break the FatGlass” and dump egg yolks in the meal(s) today.
No need to reply - I mainly wanted to give you an idea of what I was eating (ruminants salmon/mackerel or sardines & farm eggs), and just see if my existing body fat in any way gave me a “safety net” with the danger zones.
Thank you for all you do, you & Judy are such a privilege for countless people 🙏❤️🙏❤️😊
