This lively and well-attended panel discussion at the University of Montana in 1997 dared to ask: Is the Party Over: Does the New Party Offer an Alternative? The New Party was a third political party in the United States that tried to re-introduce the practice of electoral fusion. In electoral fusion, the same candidate receives nomination from more than one political party and occupies more than one ballot line. The party was active from 1992 to 1998 and Missoula was one of several cities in the nation with a local chapter in the country.
