One of the best Sorcess weapons in the game due to its plethora of utility. If you can get used to randomly teleporting when you're hit. That sounds worse than it really is. It has increased skill level, faster cast, mana increase, all resist and magic find so I find that this weapon is a great build finisher no matter which modifier you're looking to cap off. I use it almost exclusively.
I now almost exclusively walk / run cows when equipped with my Occy..... I teleported (deliberately but by mistake) into the middle of a pack of moomoos. Got hit and then the most hilarious thing happened as I got teleported from the center of one cow pack to another cow pack to another like a rag doll until I died.... Yoink... Yoink... Yoink...

I just found an Oculus the other week. In my opinion, it's more good than bad. I've been running countless L.K. runs, and there were quite a few times where I teleported into a hut of baddies, and the Oculus saved me. Of course, there was one time that it teleported me into a pack of doom apes with fanaticism (or maybe those vultures with might?), and I was dead within a sec. or so.
I find the Arm of King Leoric a hell of a lot more obnoxious than the Oculus. There have been loads of times when I was trapped in a bone prison with a baddie or some fire and was S.O.L.
Occulus can save and it can kill too it does both.
Arm of king leoric is easy countered with a teleport item.
There is unfortunately nothing you can do about the random deaths from occulus

Great analysis of the Occy. Recently put in an Ist in my Deaths Fathom. Mf is great, and my Sorc has a Skullders Ire with perf topaz. High cold dmg from Nightwings veil and DF.
I begrudgingly use the Oculus. The random teleport proc is incredibly annoying and disruptive to positioning both for myself and for mobs, which in turns slows down my damage and puts me in danger. It slows down farm as a result. The random teleport has straight up killed me before, too. I can't recall ever being randomly teleported and thinking, "Oh, that was a good one."
Just cast right in front of your character 😊

The closest thing you can get to a cursed item. Great stats, deadly drawback for Hardcore characters.
I know a lot of people don't like the occy because of the teleport proc, but this is still my top preference for sorc builds unless I'm trying to do something very specific. I even prefer it over something like hoto
The teleport proc has saved me significantly more than it has worked against me.

I've noticed it saves me a lot too. Part of me has wondered if the teleport really results in more deaths than saves/neutral out comes, or if the deaths just stick in our head more because its a negative outcome
@@ElMofo9 definitely because it's negative it sticks out more. Humans gravitate towards that kind of stuff, like thousands of planes that land safely every day but you only hear about the ones that crash kind of scenario.

I have been using this for around 5 months and have not died one time due to it teleporting me when struck. I have in fact on the other hand been saved by that feature more times than I can count. I did socket it and did upgrade with the ist rune. Its very nice

My first occy was obtained on battlenet, and it had that dudes names attached to it, so for ages i had some random dudes named item on my sorceress. Sadly that character no longer exists.
I was getting sick of running pindle after several hours of duds I passed my the waypoint and said fk it ill do one baal run, bam eth occy dropped! So hyped up with it.

Teleport really annoys me only when triggered by archers. If I'm in melee range then often I'm already in bad spot, so the teleport can actually help. But hit from archer can suddenly take us from nice safe spot in the middle of boss pack.
It's the opposite of bone prison from leroic - in this case hit from archer spawns prison around the archer and is actually quite fun, while triggering from melee hit is very bad.
Truth
Personally don't mind the teleport, I get teleported and I'm like: "fucking occy haha", it just makes me laugh
I have found so many Occy's in D2R that I have given away I think 6 of them thus far. Almost all of them dropped Trav/Andy. I found my Tals orb out of a JAR in LK. They're all out there hiding.

Halt - I faced (terror-zoned!) Duriel yesterday and I did teleport around his chambers :)
Every stat on this item is useful except for the 25% ctc teleport. As someone who plays hardcore this WILL get you killed, it's not a question of if but when. And on HC when you die that's the end of the line.

I like HOTO much better because of the random teleport, with an Ali on switch. Dying after level 90 is heartbreaking haha

Meanwhile the other dude in chat found 6 time to raid his house 🏠
Using the occy in d2r and playing on switch the teleport mechanic doesnt seem to be as annoying as I remember it being. Took me months before finding it and then I found 2 back to back. One in hell cows and the other from hell rakanishu.

For oculus rift the benefits more than outweigh its drawback imo. Just don't use it on hard-core mode, and if you can make it, HOTO is better.

I have 2 of them. First one from Mephisto in nightmare and the second one from the Pitt in hell.
I have found 2 death fathoms, and still hunting this item for my holy grail. I got a bunch of tal rasha's lidless eyes too. Although, I do have it since I traded for it, but I'd still like one to drop for me for my grail. Stuff never really drops when you hunt for it.
