Hey guys, I don't leave a lot of comments on TH-cam videos, but just want to say that you are doing a great job show casing our great country. I've also noticed that while watching your videos, I am smiling the whole way through. Your charm and wonderful entertaining conversations with yourselves and everyone you meet is truly wonderful. I'm glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work

I'm so used to seeing Mt Kosciuszko NP covered in snow since I'm only there in winter, it's nice to see another view of this beautiful landscape.

21:11 That's used in surveying. I think under the triangle is a place for surveyors to attach their equipment to, like a GNSS receiver for precise coordinates.

Our Mountains are small but I love Thredbo as it is so pretty . A child could climb our biggest mountain . The Main Range hike is really nice but takes about 7 hours to complete. In summer you can see the wild flowers , go mountain biking , caving and fishing .Driving from Khancoban to Thredbo is gorgeous. The snow covers the whole area in winter . Thank you for your beautiful vlog !

Your pronunciation was spot on Madow. Kosciuszko. It is said so fast that the (us) sounds like (os). You two do a wonderful job, and your vigour in everything you do and see makes us Aussies proud of our home. I'm alwys looking out for your next video, to brighten up my day.

This is an amazing video and brought back fond memories of being able to drive to the point where the ranger's vehicle was ( or close by) and walk to the summit where you would find a post box. You could post letters and postcards from here and they would be post marked with a special Mt Kosciusko date stamp. The walk to the chair lifts at Thredbo is a beautiful and easy one with a fantastic ride down into the village. Most people do a return walk from Thredbo Village.

Had a friend visit from Canada, he said Australia doesn't have mountains just hills. He reckoned there is probably about 200 mountains higher than Mt. Kosciuszko.

When Australia was covered by water about 520 million years ago, the Snowy Mountain region (including Mount Kosciusko) began its formation as it was covered in thick layers of mud, rock and sandstone. The layers kept covering each other and formed the sedimentary bases of the mountains. Everest, about 60 million years ago, was the rapid movement of India northward toward the continent of EuroAsia.

Freakin' fantastic. Great views, fresh air, and exercise. Come to Canberra, you're in the neighbourhood. Take the drive from Tharwa to the Cotter dam on your way in, if you're coming from Cooma, it's a popular drive, and you'll come into Canberra from the NW instead. The Mt. Ainslie lookout is popular, as is the Red Hill lookout. The Arboretum is only young, the trees aren't fully grown, but it's worth a visit. Plenty of 'roos between Cooma and Canberra, take care. Good coffee for Glen as well. 🙃👍

Australia used to have massive mountains but they are so old they’ve eroded and we don’t have the tectonic activity that replaces them like other regions.

You have now visited the highest point in the longest mountain range (the Great Dividing Range) in the World contained in one country!
Mount Kosciuszko was named by Polish explorer Edmund Strzelecki, in honour of Tadeusz Kosciuszko the Polish patriot and military commander who assisted General George Washington in the American 'War of Independence'.
Mawson Peak is an active volcanic summit (2,745 metres high) of the Big Ben massif on Heard Island, an external Australian territory in the Indian Ocean. It is the highest Mountain in what is officially recognized as part of Australia. (There are higher peaks in the 'Australian Antarctic Territory', but NO territorial claims in Antarctica are currently recognized.)

Are you sure? I believe we have more skiable terrain, due to our flatter mountains and high plains, than Switzerland, but not sure about more snow? All good. Many foreigners are surprised we have snow at all. 🙃👍

@mort8143 I have looked it up and have heard it before. How accurate it is I'm not sure but it's a fact worth checking out. It kinda blew my mind when I first heard it. When you think about it it does make sense. The Alps have snowy peaks but most of the mountain is bare. We have rolling hills which are all totally covered 🤷.

Mt Kosciuszko is only 2,300m, so "survive" is not really apt. Are you having a laugh at our non-existent "mountain"? 🤣

Technically Big-Ben/Mawson Peak on Heard Island is Australia's highest Mountain, but it's in extreme conditions / volcanic. There's also Mount McClintock but on Antarctic land. Wow didn't know you had to pay to go to Kosciuszko Park. What a rip off. Australia has a lot of accessible ventures and unique sites, not so much dramatic sheer height mountains to awe at. One reason why Australia is Earthquake safe.
