Another good course video James! I've played Abergele a couple of times and it is a good test of golf, as you say, with a nice variety of holes. The greens certainly have some slopes and breaks on them, so above the hole can be dangerous, especially on some of the larger greens. You definitely need to get off the tee okay at Abergele or you are knocking it out of the trees more often than not! Look forward to your next video!
Don’t recall you hitting driver as poorly for a long time. The driver is a real enigma for me. When it goes cold it’s as if I have never used it before so that was really relatable.
That was an enjoyable 18 to watch, beautiful course, great scenery...overdid the sun cream a bit 😁 What was going on with the driver, bit of a hook there? I find that I hole more putts with the flag out. I'm enjoying the 18 hole vlogs 👍
I've watched you from when you first started posting v-logs the improvement is amazing well done James. Some good holes and some good shots last hole for you been there so many times myself 😅. Keep up your good work and if your ever around Kent area let us know if you fancy a round.
Nice James! Great looking course! It looks like your driver swing was very flat, hence the hooks. Last few holes you got it a bit more vertical and didn’t hook it! Good job, keep the videos coming😊
Nice course and weather. Could I suggest you consider adopting the toe down\putting action chip for close to green to avoid thin shots ? Super easy and works well on most lies, that chip on 18 was a perfect candidate. I sense you like the "cut" chip but its maybe not so reliable in all lies, chipping drills and getting more "shots" will easily wipe off 3 or 4 shots a round.
Looks like a pretty nice course. It doesn't look that tight from the tees, but a lot of your drives didn't look terrible and you ended up with tree trouble so apparently it is. If it wasn't for a snowman, a triple and a double, you would have had a very decent round. There was a couple of very nice chips/pitches along the way. You had the 2 way miss going on with your drives. That must have been frustrating.
Couldn't walk back the tee due to pace of play issue. You can take a drop with a 2 shot penalty (stroke + distance) where the ball went OB. I thought it was in the rough but it went straight through. That's why it's always best to hit a provisional! :)
@notaperfectgolfer3489 Can you do that in a comp or a handicap scoring round as well? Yeah, I like to take a provisional... its like an extra practice shot🤣
Yes, it's part of the rules. You play your provisional ball up to where you think your ball might be lost. If you find your original ball then you play that and the provisional is not in play. It helps with pace of play issues :)
So here's my problem James. I have friends with handicaps in the high teens. They have a nice full swing, good swing and club head speed and are pretty decent with every club in the bag, but still they play off 18. Your swing length hardly gets beyond shoulder height, and your club head speed looks fairly slow. And yet you're still hitting your shoulder height driver 220yds. You have undoubtedly improved your putting in the last 2 years, but that alone would not get you down to 14. Your score in this video, at 19 over, would put you between 20 and 22 hcap on the slope index, which appears about right. Perhaps you've been playing fairly easy 9 hole courses which have given you a favourable hcap? What's your secret?
If you can hit a 220yd drive down the middle, you can also hit it 220yds straight left or right. I can see that you have good rotation so that obviously helps. Perhaps you can do another range visit and use toptracer or similar to record each club?
To be honest 30 odd stableford points on a course youre not familiar with is decent. You wont play to your handicap or beat it every week, thats golf....
Wasn’t a bad round. 3 holes cost you 9 shots. Just got to work on limiting those three hole to just double bogey no worse and you’ll be playing in the mid 80s!
My favourite phrase that makes an appearance in every video of yours without fail....."And golfs a funny old game" 😂😂😂😂
And sometimes it’s not that funny 🥵😡🤬🤯
@@simplyr62 I was thinking about changing the channel name to that :)
And "Happy Days" as well 😄
Cheers James, always great to see u on those nice courses in Wales
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 Do it!
Saint and Greevsy live on.
Fair play you’re very consistent just shows you don’t have to smash the ball out of the park just keep it in play

Bogey golf is great golf! I wish I were back to that myself. Cheers!
Cheers man, moving in the right direction. Just got to straighten out the driver and make a couple of putts!
Bogey golf makes me happy
Brilliant video James don’t forget if you come to southport I’ll take you to hesketh as my guest
Fab video again James. Found it totally relatable !! Looks a very tight course just like my home course
Well played James, enjoyed the upload 😁😁👍👍👍👍
Really was one of those days! Another great video
Enjoyed that, looks a lovely course. Thanks for posting.
making the putt go backwards into the hole was a very talented shot, definitely should try that one again 👏
Looks a super course, James! Well done holding it together after a less than ideal start 🥴
Good to see you on the course, battled through on a challenging day. Well done

Nice video on a nice course James. Honest golf.
Cheers Steve, I enjoyed this round and it feels good to post 18 hole vids again.
" this is not the start you want for a round of golf!" 😅 I said that so many times..👍🏻
GOLF: Game Of Lost Fun. Thank you James.!

Made my evening seeing there was a new video! Nice recovery after the snowman start!
I was shaking my head on the first 4 holes after that! :)
I always enjoy your videos. Nice relaxing watch.
Cheers man, thanks for watching :)
Great vid James. Any plans to come to West Yorkshire. I think you'd enjoy my home course.
Just got off to a bad start James, looks nice Abergele, must give it a go.
Cheers Gary, Abergele's in great condition now. It's really good to play longer par 4s and 5s...
Enjoyed that , great camera work
Love it, James. Great video as always
Enjoy your vids :) Question, with playing different courses alone, how do you maintain a handicap? Bogey golf nothing too disastrous :)
For the most part your lag putts were spot on!
Great to see you! What a chip on 4!
Great round,well played
Nice James! Great looking course!

Good job, keep the videos coming😊
I slowed down my backswing and it seemed to do the trick. A bit late though! :)
Really pretty course .....and well played cheers !
Nice video, course and weather, exclude those two holes for a not too shabby round.
Cheers David, eliminating blowup holes is definitely key for mid to high handicap players!

Good effort mate.
Good video. Looks like a great course. You seem to have developed a hook - got you into a lot of trouble. Do you have a warm up before you go out?
I'm a casual golfer but I do hit into nets and spend 10 mins on the putting green pre round. No nets here! lol :)
Looks a tight course james.
My struggles with the driver made it look tighter! :)
Great club twirl on the 3rd tee even before you hit 🙂
Always enjoy your videos
An enjoyable round from my perspective. I liked the course as well. Thanks James and keep your enjoyable videos coming!!!...
Cheers Andrew, I'll play it again later this summer & hopefully I'll stay more out of the trees!
At least you got some scrabbling practice...I Usually pick up once I go triple and mark it as a zero points like stableford.
I’d have abandoned the round after that first tee shot, and immediately started a new round!
Just those 3 holes that cost you James, well played though 👏👏
Always the way with golf. Very rarely does the game all come together in one round!
@@notaperfectgolfer3489...when you have a good score going the last few holes are nerve racking
you are 100% right - we all have rounds like this....but you finished, thats the main thing
Great recovery.
does this course weather well? thinking of going next week...
It's ok right now. I played there last weekend 👍👍👍
ha no way… must of been about last thursday i commented to say when are you at abergele next. looks like i was too late 🤣
Course is playing great right now! :)

Great vid. We wont admit it but most of us play this round every week or two.
I thought if the ball was ob or lost ( not in a penalty zone) you have to drop where you last hit ?
Couldn't walk back the tee due to pace of play issue. You can take a drop with a 2 shot penalty (stroke + distance) where the ball went OB. I thought it was in the rough but it went straight through. That's why it's always best to hit a provisional! :)

Blue sky, sunshine and a beautiful golf course....what's not to like?
It’s all about hitting the fairway off the tee. If you could do that you would be fine.
How do you track your handicap? Are you a member of a club or society or do you just track all your scores?
James, were you hitting your "tree" wood this round?
Still a decent round great putting
Surely your handicap is 14.3 + the slope rating ?
How the hell are you a 14 handicap? You must have one helluva good short game.
'Snowman' :)
Tbh shocked you're 14.3
Hi James.. did you want to set up a round between us? Im available!

I meant short game!!!
Birdie = excellent
Par = good
Bogey = ok
Double bogey or higher bad
Another LBH not a great round but happens to everyone at some point
Driver??? On a 300 yard hole?? 7 iron next time. Your shirt fame is really good. Take irons off the tee. Even on par 5s

The weird thing is I was low 80s a couple of years ago but aren't playing as much now...
