When you think about it, it makes sense. They wanted Bruce Wayne's most recent memory...And, well, this is it. That alleyway was a place where Bruce Wayne died, and Batman was born.
It’s very telling how they are watching a child repeatedly see his parents murdered and only one of them is showing any form of empathy/sympathy. Really shows how even if these people are likeable they are still villains.
Not defending it but: Ivy is too pissed at Bruce to feel sympathy (at the moment). And Clayface (I think this is the Matt Hagen one) is too concerned with research for his role. Dr Psycho is inexcusable, but he is the most assholish out of her group.
I like to think that Clayface stayed a few second longer than Ivy and Dr. Psycho because Bruce himself was wondering what the hell Clayface was getting at.
For a comedy parody version of the Batman universe, this is one of the most spot on, dark portrayals of Bruce Wayne's psyche. This show comes up with those great surprises... like the ep with Bane's back-breaking of Batman. We're all laughing and having fun then JESUS!!! :D Enjoy it when this show gets a little dark every now and then.
Bruce Wayne said this himself multiple times in comics: that Bruce died in that alley. And that he only needed one grave prepared for his revenge scheme
Bruce's childhood trauma looks like the cycle of memories of Frank Castle (punisher) reliving his dying family (DaredevilS2)... I loved Harley Quinn trying to help Bruce and seeing that he couldn't try to protect the child in some way...
I think this is the show saying "In his mind, Bruce Wayne died on that night too", as his latest memory is the death of his parents. After that point, Bruce was gone... and Batman was born.
I had to go through what Bruce went through but the only family members I have left are my girlfriend and my little sister and before the person shot the last 3 of us, I punched they guy right in the face and threw away his gun and beat the absolute motherfucking shit out of him until he was unconscious and so we ran away and so, every night when we are out, we make sure nobody is around and if only me and my girlfriend are out and my little sister stayed at home with my baby kitten, we would do the same thing, except we would go on a hill, pile up some rocks, lay down on them and look up at the stars and we imagine constellations of me and, my girlfriend, my little sister and my baby kitten. I’m actually so glad my parents are dead and I hope they are burning in hell because of what the did to us! And how they treated us! And mom and dad, if I can even call you guys that, if you are reading this: I never loved you in the first place, and I hope you stay in hell for all eternity! And when I die, I will see you…. IN HELL! But that’s not gonna fucking happen because my little brother Lucius is not the only son of Lucifer, but I’m Lucifer’s oldest son and everything in mine and Lucius’s room is satanic as fuck! Even my girlfriend and my little sister are satanic as fuck!
I’ve heard the saying that: “Every parent’s worse fear is that they may outlive their children”. What happened to Bruce, as young as he was then, was the opposite. But much, much worse.
Ok so I just realized something great about this scene. It is very visually modeled after the 90s Batman animated show. The red sky, sharp red edges, really nice reference
Interesting to see Ivy has absolutely ZERO maternal instincts while Harley makes both a great Sister and Mother. She's fully engrossed in Reality while still capable of compassion.
Remember that Ivy normally hates humans. Harley is the only exception. Kite Man too in this universe. She is showing maternal instinct for Frank who's been harmed by Bruce.
0:20 = The Music and the fucking animation style pay homage to one of the most iconic animated series from 1992 Batman the animated series by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini
How can season 3 be the worst of Harley Quinn when it has one of the best episodes in all of Batman history? *This* is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, and a brilliant and chilling portrayal of Batman’s psyche.
Actually Batman is described as anti-hero. His motivation may be good, but the methods are those of bad guys. In Justice League Dark there were ghost called Shrouds, saying that Batman cheated them many times. Like despite not killing (not because it's wrong, but because His parents got killed) He did everything else, a villain that doesn't kill. He actually sees villains as broken people with inner issues, cause that's who he is, a child in a man's body always crying for his parents.
Bruce removed Ivy Poison, Dr.Psycho and Clayman from his memory because they were not helping to prevent Bruce from seeing his parents murdered in cold blood.
3:23 Clayface: Thomas, help me get into character. How are you feeling just moments before your death? Thomas Wayne: my wh-? *gunshot* 💀 Clayface: *gets covered in Thomas’s blood* ah!
Can't believe their even friends with Dr. Psycho again after the way he betrayed them. Also Bruce really needs to let this bad memory go and heal up, at least that's what Harley was helping him to do here.
I mean they do have a point. Every adaptation, every story arc, every opening has to have that one night where Bruce’s parents are murdered. What’s next, Superman’s trauma of his home planet blown up replayed several times? Wonder Woman losing Steve Trevor over and over again? Green Arrow being stranded on that island? Martian Manhunter’s race being wiped out? Spider Man’s Uncle being killed for the millionth time? Wolverine going through the Weapon X Process once again?
I never knew you could have a reversed repressed memory. Also it kinda makes sense. I mean that night wasn’t just the night his parents died, it was the night Bruce died and Batman was born
Someone should tell Clayface this is a Memory of Thomas Wayne, not Thomas himself. He only knows what Bruce knows about him. Like how Memory Rick only knows what Bird Person knows about him. Like that he makes portals but doesn’t know where he goes. All Bruce knows is what he’d know through limited sources. Maybe a diary but definitely not his final thoughts when dying.
Probablemente de lo que sabia alfred también de todas formas ahora vemos a Thomas no como ese bienechor que trataba de ayudar a gotham sino como alguien también malo
I don’t know which is worse, Bruce or Marvel’s Thor. For Bruce he lost his parents at 8. For Thor he had parents, and a brother, for over 1500 years; after losing them, along with his home, he suffered serious depression for five years.
I don't feel any pity for Thor as I know his original history... He is a ridiculously proud idiot until the end, in fact he even survived until Ragnarok where he finally died
Thor by a mile, honestly I don't get why so everybody acts as Bruce past were so terrible. Yes is horrible he got to see his parents being murdered, but he was fine, police came to protect him latter, was surrounded for people as Alfred and Lesli who honestly loved him, was rich as hell. Many heroes including Thor had to deal with far more loses and gets much less support. Damn many lost entire planets.
Still kinda disappointed that Pre Acid Joker or Jack Napier wasn't the one who murdered the Waynes like in the 1989 film, it would have strengthened their connection further.
Personally I prefer Joe Chill being a random mugger. Makes the murders more meaningless in a brutal kind of way, which I think gives more significance to Batman’s overall mission to protect everyone from suffering the way he did. That said, I can see the appeal in Jack Napier killing the Waynes to cement Joker as an embodiment of chaos in a lifelong conflict with Batman as an embodiment of order. It works in a “the villains make the hero” sense, while I like a Batman whose story is significant regardless of who he’s up against. Guess it all depends what story we want to tell. Both are good in their own way!
Pretty much. IIRC in the comics Joe Chill was a petty crook, but Bruce built him up as an embodiment of chaos and horror. Ironically he later met the Joker who *wants* to be an embodiment of chaos and whose "jokes" are frequently horrific. The Joker fit Batman's archetype of crime perfectly, almost by accident ... at first. (Ignoring the 1989 movie where the Joker *was* Joe Chill.) EDIT: I didn't mean the Joker was _literally_ Joe Chill. In that movie he was the guy who really shot Bruce's parents. It's been a long time, but IIRC Joe Chill simply took the fall ... and I think got sprung from jail. (Or was that someone else?)
