I'm currently watching the 1999 version and I gotta say I'm loving it so far. But when it comes to the 1999 vs 2011 debate I can't really pick a side, both are great. Some scenes/character designs in the 1999 version are better than the 2011 version for instance, Hisoka's bloodlust scene is a lot more terrifying in this version.
1 thing I love about the 2 hxh series For the 1999: it explains the story better because on episode 1 of the 1999 you see some reasons on why gon really wants to be a hunter while on the 2011 version is just him going to the boat and saying "I am going to find dad and become the best hunter in the world!" Man the music in the 1999 version was so epic! I felt like they just kept reusing the same generic tracks in the 2011 version.

This still terrifies me and I've seen the entire show (2011) version. Hisoka creeped me out way more than Meruem or the other chimera ants and the weird egg trees.
