lonk Not really.. iPhones are not very durable so beating them just barely doesn't make pixel durable. Also JerryFigEverything's durability test suggested that the Pixel 2 durability is rather bad.
I AM PROMETHEUS It is aluminum, but it cover by a premium coating. So it can get scratch easier. Google do this because they want us to have a better grip in the hand.
Vishal Chauhan true, but if you have a iPhone 8 or and XL2 or thinking of getting one I think you would still wanna see how they hold up in case you actually drop yours while outside on the concrete
"Aw man, I sure wish my bulky phone screen didn't cover up the panda finish on my pixel, maybe I should go bareback" *takes case off* *watches video* "..." *puts case back on* "sigh"
So the iphone withstands 3 more falls before becoming unusable and you give it only 1 point more And then the pixel loses chunks of screen after only 1 drop which makes the selfie cam unusable and you give it a 3
YoutuMax that last test is random, once the structure of the phone is compromised the rest of the drops are not repeatable. You can test 20 iPhones and get 20 different results once that screen break.
Oh yeah, because holding a lighter to a phone for 15 seconds FORCEFULLY bending a phone at a weak point, taking a RAZOR BLADE to a phone are all GOOD INDICATIONS of what will happen to your phone. Yeah, no, bullshit. I get that it is a 'absolute worse case scenario' test, but still, the idea of saying it has bad build quality because 'someone took a knife to plastic' is ridiculous.
I agree with metalgrunt400 here, I think Jerry's videos are entertaining, but a lot of the tests are not practical nor useful. The flame test, umm thanks? I'll be sure not to hold my phone next to flames! He also said that the phone might as well be plastic if they're going to paint the metal. That's ridiculous, metal isn't just there for look and feel. I know a lot of people won't like how the phone won't feel cold in the morning but to me I can't give two shits about that. And then there was the infamous bend test. I used to be in the group of people who would say "well if I'm paying that much for a phone, it should be tough in every aspect." Why would you bend your phone? You could argue that putting your phone in the back pocket can lead to warping, but that's not the same force as someone purposely trying to snap a phone. The Nextbit Robin snaps like a twig in his test but I haven't seen anyone actually complain about that. Same thing with the Nexus 6P. Not all of his test are useless however. The fingerprint scratch test helps you know how durable the scanner is, whether you can be rough or be more careful when putting your phone into a pocket full of things that can scratch the sensor. The scratch test is pretty standard, there's nothing to be said about that.
metalgrunt400 Jeans would still equal almost just as much as his hand if not way more. It's his strength vs. your weight. Pixel was made poorly and it transfers over to this video. Don't be a pixel fan boy. Internally(Especially the software) are great but the rest of the phone is lacking. Better than last years pixel when it comes to specs but in terms of engineering it's not as good as the original pixel. Suck it up and stop trying to be a white knight.
metalgrunt400 bro it wasn’t just the pixel he did the same thing with the iPhone 8 and note 8 and both the phones passed that test and this trop test is basically less practical then jerrys. There are infinite possibilities how will your smartphone fell on the ground.
This is what I don't like a out the biasness for iPhones....you speak about how the shattered front glass in the pixel 2 destroys it's selfie cam.....but neglect to speak about the cracked lens on the iPhone rear facing cam...where the pixel was untouched.
Bl Chitu I mean the pixel 2 and the iPhone 8 are such even competitors, oh wait where’s wireless charging? I also recall google making fun of Apple for removing the headphone jack. And what do you know! They copied Apple! Too bad they can’t come up with ideas on their own.... 😢😢😢
You know what, you really have to tell tech 21 to bring some actual colors into their new cases like they did with all the past phones. All this black white and gold stuff from them is killing me
Kitchen Utensil correction, it's encased in plastic. I wish they'd at least texture the sides a bit, since actives are so damn slippery, even if they can take everything you throw at them, it's still not OK.
you are right. and he's doing so even with his speed test's. phonebuff is great but i think doing those test a second or third time for every comparison will make more reliable results.
Nobody builds phone better than Samsung these days, They don't get enough credit for it. Even with full glass curved design S8 & Note8 were easily able to beat every other phone.
Nishant The iPhone 8's glass back might be fragile, but it's still better than the Note 8 - BGR apple.news/AjOHxRZCIRc6GM-6IeQosqgapple.news/AjOHxRZCIRc6GM-6IeQosqg
Nishant I don’t own any of the phones in the article or this video, so I just take it at face value. You can take 5 phones, drop them somewhat the same way and get a completely different result from all of them. I don’t know what to tell you...except for don’t drop your phone. I don’t care which one you have...🤔
Calvin Green hey man, your link isn't working so i can't say what's written in it & even I don't own a Samsung, i use OnePlus 5 but I'm impressed with what Samsung has been doing recently with both their software & hardware. You look at their phones & you think that's a very fragile design but they outperform against the phones like iPhone 8 & Pixel 2 on durability tests. I think they deserve to be praised for it.
Sharaf Motayne Was about to call you a moron, but I just looked at both videos, and holly fuck, the spider webbing is almost identical. ALMOST identical, the top right corner is slightly different on both phones. Do they did not use the same phone.
Wait, I take that back, they are exactly the same. All that would of happened is either the iPhones cracked the same, or they mixed up the footage. But the iPhone still did crack on the Pixel vs drop test.
Although I admire the more 'scientific' approach, drop tests are mostly just random, unless you have a spare 50 grand to run tests lots of times and destroy a lot of phones.
I like how the Pixel 2 XL pretends the fall didn't hurt. Always trying to finish facing up after every drop, effectively reducing the amount of impacts on the screen by half (not that it makes a difference at all, but I find it interesting).
Everyone saying the glass backed iPhone made it worse than it was before, think again! Everyone WANTED glass on the back! And when you get what you want, you complain?!
I know it would be crazy expensive, but I would like to see someone who would use a new phone for each different type of drop, because you don’t know how the integrity was affected by previous drops. This isn’t me complaining about the results, just to clarify, this is just me being curious on how the results would differ
you forgot to do the bend test lmao, you would have seen the new added feature on pixle2 where it cracks near center where one of the button made the side weak lol
I think the iPhone should have won the drop test. The scoring in the first three rounds was fine, but the last round is where the problem lies. Since there are 10 drops in the final round, you should score it based on how many drops the phone can survive (i.e 1 point if it dies after 1 drop, 6 points if it dies after 6 drops, 10 points if it dies at the 10th drop of still survives, etc.). This would mean that since the iPhone survived 8 drops and the Pixel 2 survived 5, you should have scored the last round 8-5. This would make the final score 25-24 with the iPhone ahead. This doesn't matter too much given how close it was anyway, but it still would've made a difference in the result.
I have a problem with how you scored test 3 and 4 Test 3: The iPhone has some reasonable cracks at the top right, but the pixel entire top in shattered. Comparing the overall damage of the iPhone to the pixel, the iPhone had less damage on the corner, some cracks at the top right, and a pretty cracked back (nothing loose, all functional, just badly cracked). The pixel meanwhile had a solid back, a deep scuff on the corner, but an awful top that makes it almost unusable (imagine swiping down for controls). You could pick glass out, and the selfie camera looked ridiculously blurry in the camera app. The iPhone was only 2 points better? Test 4: The iPhone survived 3 more bonus drops than the pixel, how does an extra 3 drops only account for a single point?
"The most durable glass ever in a smartphone." How many times will I see it break first?
This is probably the only channel that does accurate drop tests.
accurate but reused drop tests
Speed test next?
PhoneBuff Me✌
PhoneBuff Yes definitely
Op5 vs p2xl speed test
Hurry can't wait
Pixel 2 XL vs OP5
I'm still getting a Google pixel 2 xl.
@Victor Medina good job replying over a year later i hope your happy with yourself
Victor Medina wtf are you so mad for LMAOO
Victor Medina the pixel 2 has better specs then the iPhone. AmOled vs lcd lmao.
@Victor Medina what are u on about apple is overpriced as hell and a scam. they are awful and you can barely do anything on them.
Victor Medina toxic pice of shit
Phone buff is the best in doing speed tests & drop tests.
Sameer Adhikari what about everything apple pro?
Kevin Velásquez biased
Sameer Adhikari bro are you nepali
Kevin Velásquez He is also one of my fav tech reviewer
Aarav Moraks yes I am..are you?
I feel very sorry to both phones
ʕʘ‿ʘʔHaji84ʕʘ‿ʘʔ So do I
ʕʘ‿ʘʔHaji84ʕʘ‿ʘʔ The most logical comment so far, thanks for being normal, man 😂👍
No, the phones can be repaired
ʕʘ‿ʘʔHaji84ʕʘ‿ʘʔ i dont feel sorry for the pixel
This hurt me so bad on the inside...
So...metal phones are still>>>>>>>>>
James W Except the Pixel 2 is made from a “premium coating” of essentially paint. Not metal.
TheWaffleLord true but still more durable, less premium tho
rubendopeguy is not durable because it barely beat an iPhone
lonk Note 8 is
lonk Not really.. iPhones are not very durable so beating them just barely doesn't make pixel durable. Also JerryFigEverything's durability test suggested that the Pixel 2 durability is rather bad.
Nice rig. It would be nice to see some drop tests with a protective glass in order to see if they help
Every coming day my trust towards companies like Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus increases!
Rishi S only Samsung
Samsung for design
Xiaomi and oneplus have horrible ecological ratings
One reason more to support them.
k Oneplus fanbase is jealous
I’m getting the pixel 2 TOMORROW I’m so exited
Edit: my iPhone battery didn’t even last five minutes😂🙄😫😫😫😫😫 I’m charging it as I type this
Nève M how's the pixel?
Freaking same here Lol
How is it?
The pixel don’t really have a aluminum back. It’s cover by a premium coating over the aluminum.
*plastic
So it is aluminum.
I AM PROMETHEUS It is aluminum, but it cover by a premium coating. So it can get scratch easier. Google do this because they want us to have a better grip in the hand.
It's not plastic, it's painted....just like the LG g5
Jaison Yohannan - How did the glass back on that iPhone do?
I think you reused the video of dropping the iPhone 8 vs iPhone X video
Where is the speed test for Op5 vs iPhone 8 plus vs pixel 2 XL?
I am waiting for so long from day one
Please test these phone head to head
Sebin Joe Paul he’s waiting till the iPhone 8 and pixel 2 get better optimization since they both recently came out
P K will he do the test soon in the future
P K how long do you think ?
Just got my tech 21 case for my iPhone 8 Plus. Loving it so far because I can see the red back!
Smartphones are not made for this
Vishal Chauhan So? It's just fun to watch the durability
Vishal Chauhan true, but if you have a iPhone 8 or and XL2 or thinking of getting one I think you would still wanna see how they hold up in case you actually drop yours while outside on the concrete
Shon Curry yes
In my opinion the iPhone 8 plus won
And plus the iPhone 📱 is the same (I think 🤔)
"Aw man, I sure wish my bulky phone screen didn't cover up the panda finish on my pixel, maybe I should go bareback"
*takes case off*

Lol u butthurt cause
U wasted ur money
On apple
"only one drop" 😂
Literally the most interesting is the speed tests
google doesnt fall ,however it stands
The best drop test series on TH-cam!

Reasons we have screen protectors🤷🏾♂️
I was eagerly waiting for pixel 2 XL drop test...
now next with note 8 or s8
despite the "scores" i feel the iphone did quite better than the P2XL + keep in mind that i like androids far more than iphones but gurl..........
Nico Jiménez xx xx xccczzzzz_Z_zM z z does ghvcಥ ಘಡಠೌಥ!
So you meant the iphone 7? Or is this just a tech 21 ad? Super cute bro.
plzz do a speed test of pixel xl 2 and iphone 8 plus and mate 10 pro
This channel does the best drop tests.
The ending round is so stupid with the numbers..... It’s an opinion not fact, so it’s not fair to say one wins over the other.
Matthew Schwartz butthurt cuz iPhone lost I mean Worlds strongest Glass ?
Bl Chitu I mean the pixel 2 and the iPhone 8 are such even competitors, oh wait where’s wireless charging? I also recall google making fun of Apple for removing the headphone jack. And what do you know! They copied Apple! Too bad they can’t come up with ideas on their own.... 😢😢😢
Matthew Schwartz other phones have taken off the headphone jack way before Apple stfu
M4CHINE GUNNER And Apple took all the heat for it. Name anything new about the pixel 2, i’m waiting.
xXSkyassassin That was on the original pixel as well lmao
You know what, you really have to tell tech 21 to bring some actual colors into their new cases like they did with all the past phones. All this black white and gold stuff from them is killing me
The s8 active is the most durable
I'd hope the Active is. I have a more durable device than it, though.
its plastic
No shit
Kitchen Utensil correction, it's encased in plastic. I wish they'd at least texture the sides a bit, since actives are so damn slippery, even if they can take everything you throw at them, it's still not OK.
Big Smoke *YUP*
Did you film speed tests first?
do the regular pixel 2 plz
liu metivier fr
Just how satisfying that flip the Pixel 2 xl did
He used the same footage from the Iphone 8 plus and Samsung galaxy s8. He didn't even drop the iphone in this video.....
you are right. and he's doing so even with his speed test's.
phonebuff is great but i think doing those test a second or third time for every comparison will make more reliable results.
So this tech21 case passed the same tests you did with the pixel 2xl? I need a case that will really protect it!
Yeah the pixel 2 to me has a very cheap build.
Kind of
jonyD143 don’t you got a fight with toppo ?
Shamar Coke It's a damn shame I have to waste stamina on that trash! HOW DARE HE! THE PRINCE OF ALL SAIYANS DOES NOT GO FOR MERE SECOND BEST!
jonyD143 xD
Have you hold one?
I feel like everybody’s channel grew so rapidly and yours still hasn’t reached 1M. I don’t get that.

Nishant I don’t own any of the phones in the article or this video, so I just take it at face value. Samsung build their phones well and certainly get enough credit for it.
that is so weird, i have the 2xl, no case for two years and it has been a tank, no broken screen
That iphone 8 was the same one use in the NOTE 8 TEST :v not Smooth Phonebuff 😖
Sharaf Motayne Wash your eyes
Sharaf Motayne

Google pixel scarifies beauty for durability.
Sacrifices nothing for nothing. Yeah..
Man you have a serious sense of humour
Although I admire the more 'scientific' approach, drop tests are mostly just random, unless you have a spare 50 grand to run tests lots of times and destroy a lot of phones.
First
I'm first right?
Thanks for realistic and scientific tests
Pixel have a ugly design and also horrible durability!....#Team Note8
MacixTechReviews note 8
I agree that the Pixel 2 is ugly, but so is the Note 8 😄
IO9802 nah the note 8 is AMAZINGLY beautiful
MacixTechReviews stfu fanboy.
IO9802 Something wrong with your eyes?
I like how the Pixel 2 XL pretends the fall didn't hurt. Always trying to finish facing up after every drop, effectively reducing the amount of impacts on the screen by half (not that it makes a difference at all, but I find it interesting).
iPhone X anyone?
Yes
Yeee!!
Luckily no
Goober and Buddy no 8 is better
Goober and Buddy no to expensive
It hurt to see my phone drop, but it was nice to see that it was okay-ish.
Wtf,
Why you are wasting these,
Give it to me.
personally I don't want a pre damaged phone
It’s helpful. Determines how protected we need our phones.
After all, they were probably given to him for free.
The best drop tests ever!!
No wireless charging on the pixel 2 so the back drop is not fair
Balasubramaniam Parthasarathy Back drop is fair.. they came out at the same time
How does it even came to your mind?
Probably should compare the iphone 8 to phones from 2015 if you want to keep it fair then :P
Hey i took your advice for tech 21,its awesome
actually i don't consider the pixel 2 as a phone 📱 i considered it like a shitty cheap amazon phone
mario ghoneim why is that
So technically it is still a phone XD
... With the best camera on the market.
mario ghoneim yeah you don't consider it, you can't own one that's why.
I hope I can consider $900 to be cheap one day...
*love you phone buff*
I'm desperately waiting for ONE PLUS 5 vs IPHONE X phonebuff style speed test .
SciPsyche iphone x is not out yet unfortunately
SciPsyche same prozessor the oneplus ist a little bit faster
What about XZP are guys going to do drop test on it? 🏃♂️
You are savage that the reason you got a new subscriber
It's awesome, I'm enjoying this drop test
Everyone saying the glass backed iPhone made it worse than it was before, think again! Everyone WANTED glass on the back! And when you get what you want, you complain?!
The most durable glass ever on a smartphone.
I was looking to find a vid like this best YoTuber
Money musa The sneaker head *TH-camr
i looooovee looveee love your comparison method!!! make more please!!!!
Remember the droid phones and when they started up it said DROID and it was soooo cool?
Those were the days.
Hey PhoneBuff, Do you know anything about the Simpson's paradox?
Turn the captions on
And it says the iPhone aids +
So true 😂
Selling Pixel 2 XL in 'As New' condition. Slight scuffs and scrapes but fully functional.
I know it would be crazy expensive, but I would like to see someone who would use a new phone for each different type of drop, because you don’t know how the integrity was affected by previous drops. This isn’t me complaining about the results, just to clarify, this is just me being curious on how the results would differ
some pretty high tech drop test huh ?
Drop test before speed test? Cmon man.
You dropped the Pixel 2 four extra times before it didn't work and the iPhone was only dropped 1x in the bonus round. Not fair!
Apple claims that iPhone 8+ have the most durable ever!
1:20 : nahhh, we just promoting our phone :)
But phonebuff guy you make the best speed test videos
I don't think we need to make drop tests more scientific, they need to be more casual, with average people dropping it in common and human ways
Essential Ph-1 drop test. Titanium sides and Ceramic back.
You need to turn on captions, serious it’s funny
iPhone 8 pronounced as “iPhone AIDS” 🤣🤣🤣
rather than destroying 2 phones, they could have given me 1 if not both
it's PhoneBuff style
you forgot to do the bend test lmao, you would have seen the new added feature on pixle2 where it cracks near center where one of the button made the side weak lol
This doesn't matter too much given how close it was anyway, but it still would've made a difference in the result.
the world toughest smartphone crack
Definitely going to keep a case on my Pixel.
What about the speedtest with the pixel 2 XL?
That is some high tech drop mechanism
saying the pixel has an aluminum back is like saying the iPhone 5c had an aluminum back since there was aluminum under the plastic.
In the video you were talking about a case with awesome drop protection. Can you link that please?
Hey, can you hire a musclehead and do a sledgehammer test? That way result is resoundingly evident and video will be much shorter.
ya now waiting fr the speed test
they need to also do these tests with the tempered glass and such added on
I have a problem with how you scored test 3 and 4
Test 3: The iPhone has some reasonable cracks at the top right, but the pixel entire top in shattered.
Wow google spent so much time, effort and build quality on the back of the pixel phone that they forgot to do the same on the front.
Apple:
"This is the strongest glass ever on a phone"
*Gets shattered on first back drop test*
Do drop test for the small Pixel 2 !!
Well my iPhone 8 Plus drop in 30ft. It's still working great. front camera and back camera is doing great too,but the glass is fucking bad ass.
hit like if u wanna more amazing test like this😍😍😍
The main thing is the screen for a normal user so the iPhone gets the win for this video
m i the only one... Who have not use these phon yet??
Love that sponsor
please do a drop test between iPhone 8 and Google pixel 2
