- I'll be unboxing and reviewing the Royal Kludge RK68 65% Mechanical Keyboard that comes with hot-swappable switches, Bluetooth capabilities, and RGB lighting. There are multimedia functions and RGB effects that can be accessed using the FN key.

I decided to get mine in the RK Brown Tactile Switches, but they also come in Red Linear and Blue Clicky Switches as well. I got mine for $55 with a coupon on Amazon. Overall, I think this is a great keyboard for the price and it is a great keyboard if you're interested in the mechanical keyboard space!

hi! how were you able to shoot your keeb without the light flickering?
On a scale of 1 to 10 as 10 being the bump as big as blue switches, how big is the bump? I want a bump on my keyboard switches but I don’t want it as loud as the blue switches.
Do you know your rk68 what version bluetooth is?? 3.0, 5.0 or 5.1??
I bought one but it didnt come with the switch puller and the extra switches, and I cant remove the switches 😢

if you got the same one, you should be able to press Fn + \ to switch between effects and Fn + , to switch between colors

Nice Video, I have this keyboard too but with blue keys. One the key"s RGB light ( red to be specific, died but the G and B are good) does changing the key will fix this problem?

Unfortunately changing the key won't fix it as the RGB light is built in on the PCB board underneath. Sorry to hear about that, but hopefully the rest of the keyboard is good!
my version is just have white colour only.. how to change it to RGB?
do they still sell this one on amazon? the only rk68 i’ve seen are either wired with rgb lights or wireless with blue lights only.
I don't think they sell it anymore unfortunately.

You prolly just have to scroll the the color designs and background rgb by hitting fn / until you get ther

Hi. Love ur video. I just bought this but my keyboard switches off by itself automatically after 5 minutes if I didn’t use it. May I know if yours is also like that ?
Thank you! And yes, if you have it in Bluetooth mode it will turn off the led after a few minutes to save battery. I also noticed that so i just plug it in and turn off the bluetooth so the led's stay on.

@@itsRolow thanks for the reply. behind the keyboard there is on and off button , and next to it there is another button for B which is Bluetooth mode and G for dongle mode. Do u also have the G/B button ?

Hi idk if ur still responding to comments but, which key is the Home button? Im thinking of buying this keeb but i want to make sure it has a home button.
yep it has a home button, but it's a function key not a dedicated one. It should be the bracket next to the "P", you just need to press FN+[ to use it. If you go to 5:06 you can see all the different keys/function keys it has.

Hey, I'm thinking about buying this but I can't find the length of the USB cable anywhere. How long is it?
I think the link i have in the description is outdated, so it might be best to search for rk68 on amazon and do some research. The keyboard I got came with a 6ft cable though.

hi, that's awesome! I personally haven't used any software, but their amazon page has a link to one you can use for macro groups/customization. They change out their products very often for some reason, so it might not be available anymore unfortunately.

What is the difference between blue, red and brown keys??
I just discovered these things in keyboards.
I ordered same this keyboard with red i just picked random
These refer to how the keys feel and sound when you press down on them. Blue switches are clicky and are pretty loud, brown switches have a tactile bump but less sound and are good for typing, red switch is the lightest and has no bump hence why its referred to as a linear switch. Hope that helped! There are lots of videos on youtube that'll explain it as well.

I've been going on amazon and seeing people review this product and saying that the one they got is not hot swappable and some say the one they got is hot swappable is there anyway to guarantee I don't get scammed and I get a hot swappable version of this keyboard? Btw Keep up the great work
i think you just have to pay close attention to the model you're buying, check the description and details to make sure it is hotswappable. If it says that, it shouldn't be a scam.
I've noticed that those with the model RK G68 (As opposed to RK68) are hot swappable. But don't take my word for it. Double check. It's the wild west of keyboards out there.
there's been a review on amazon that says this: "Overall, the keyboard is excellent value for money. Nothing wrong quality wise and would have been perfectly happy with the keyboard - however, be warned that not all switches fit. On each slot of the PCB, there's an LED light that gets in the way of some switches (for example, I ordered Alpacas and they won't fit). Only switches that have a hole on the bottom of the switch (like NovelKey Creams) will fit." so just be careful if you plan to change the swithces.

@@rory4539 I didn’t end up purchasing this keyboard and instead have ordered the rk84. However if they have a hole on the bottom of the switch, then yes it should fit.

no, you don't need to install any software, it already has a lot of RGB patterns you can choose from

It all depends on your preference, if you dont care for rgb, getting the whitelit is prob the better choice.

i want to ask, i have this rk g68 and i love it so much but the main problem is i can't activate my fn key, do you have some tips?
In order to access the function keys at the top you have to first press FN+Left Ctrl, that will switch the modes from the numbers to the function keys/multimedia keys. After that you can press FN+any number to access F1-F12. Press fn+left ctrl to change it back to number keys.

I got mine but I can’t change color
when you alt fn 4 does it alt f4 or open the calculator
alt fn 4 just does the normal alt f4, in order to do the calculator you have to switch to the multimedia mode by pressing Fn+left Ctrl (also use it to switch back) and then pressing fn+4 will open calculator 5:06 has a close up view of all the different keys.
@@itsRolow but in non fn lock mode when i do alt fn 4 it doenst alt f4... its frustraing to toggle and watch keyboard flash and waiting upto 5-6 seconds before pressing alt 4 to alt f4... from number 123456 mode....
@@thracian ohh, i've never really used the function lock feature, so I don't know if there is a fix for that. I've gotten used to pressing the fn key.
oh wait, u said non fn lock mode? alt fn+4 works for me to close applications... hmm

Why would you have music on top of a keyboard sound test!?
I thought the sound test was pretty audible with the lowered volume on the music so I decided to keep it in, I'll make sure to have only the sound test next time I make a keyboard review tho

yes! so if you switch to the mode that is a static rainbow color, you can press Fn+, to change colors and cycle until you get to white. (this mode is the static color mode)
Is it fully hot swappable?
yes, it is a 3-pin hotswap socket so any 3-pin switches will fit, if you want to use 5-pin switches they have to be modified first
are the switches hot swappable?
No
I haven't tried other switches on this specific keyboard yet, but from what I can tell it looks like they are hot-swappable. There are other versions of the rk68 keyboard that 100% are hotswappable tho.

the one i bought is 3-pin hotswap compatible, there might be new/updated versions of the rk68 though.
@@itsRolow since the alpaca switches are 5 pin i could clip the legs but there is a version that has only blue lighting but is 5 pin hot swap and the alpacas don't let rgb light through anyway I should be fine getting that one

Yea, it's a Bluetooth device so it should be able to connect to an ipad.

check if the bluetooth switch is turned on, if it is then pressing and holding fn+Q should make the Q key start flashing eventually which means it's in pairing mode and it should pop up in the Bluetooth devices.
