I've been using Cryptomator for some time and really like it. The only thing I would love for them to implement is 2FA to log in and also the ability to share encrypted files via shared link. But the 2FA is what's most important to me for security reasons.
Thanks for this information. Can you access your Cryptomator data without internet access? Early on (1:30), you set up Google Drive to "Mirror files". This implies that the encrypted Cryptomator files also exist on your PC and could presumably be accessed from that location by the Cryptomator app. When you do your backup, do you backup the plaintext data in drive F:? Or is the encrypted vault what is backed up? I.e., is your backup vulnerable to exposing the plaintext data?
You really think Google doesn't employs an automated system to scan user storage for violations of their ToS? There are threads about Google account suspension for ToS breaches.
Thanks for the breakdown! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
It does. The only issue I've ebcountered is that Microsoft's spying thinks the (encrypted) files are suspicious. Just ignore that... One potential issue is that onedrive versioning will not work. Versions have to be managed in another way.
ive been using it on onedrive for years, zero problems, sometimes onedrive online will claim files are suspicious due the names, just ignore like other people said
Sad reality is this connection is extremely slow when you access via Android App due to limits on API speeds by Google Drive for free users...Loading an image even takes longer than expected I switched to pCloud since that connection was much better...
Suspend the account for using Cryptomator? Never heard of anything like that ever. If there's instances I'd love to have citations. (And, you should be backing up whatever you throw in the cloud anyway.)
Some people seem to think access to their data would be Nirvana for some company such as Microsoft or Google. The truth likely is that nobody cares and would choose to watch paint dry rather than be bored by looking at your data. Even knowing that, the data I want to keep private is never out of my custody and control. It's not on Google Drive or in any other cloud. If you're concerned about others seeing your data, don't put it anywhere they could possibly get access to it.

Merry Christmas and thank you for this useful video. Keep up the good work.

Could you make a similar video for OneDrive?

wow tysvvm for this wonderfull video. question for you do i have to download the app for every device i own and operate?
Yes.
Does it work with Microsoft One Drive as well?

@mikaele2x I'll try it on One Drive then, thanks for the info.

Woll the data in Google drive that is already there be encrypted?
No. If you want existing data to be encrypted you should move it in Cryptomator folder / vault. But you should do it locally, on your PC, not via web.
👍

If Google doesn’t like it they will suspend the account.
You better have a local backup …..

@ could happen!
@@RogierYou Unlikely. It's your data, your files. Google cannot say what you can or can't do with your files.

Or encrypt it.
