I saw them just before Janice joined the group, so she was in the audience. A somewhat well known actor was there obviously trying to hit on her, and she was obviously not interested. She wouldn't even look at him. It made for an interesting side show.
What a fantastic decade of CCM artists, I need to revisit their vinyl albums, the quality of production on those was terrific, only analog records reveal the purity, and vocal textures that a sibling vocal group have.
The show is called "America's Music Legacy" and this particular episode was all about Gospel music and was filmed I think in '83. Other episodes included funk, jazz, soul, blues, rock, etc. Each episode was hosted by a famous television personality. The Archers were in this episode to represent the CCM aspect of Gospel music. The rest of the musical guests here were Andrae Crouch, The Winans, Marion Williams, Douglas Miller, Walter Hawkins, Sandra Crouch, Wintley Phipps, The Chambers Family, Linda Hopkins, Reba Rambo & Donny McGuire, and Mel Carter. There was even a little history lesson on the evolution of Gospel music with video footage of Mahalia Jackson singing. And yes, LeVar Burton was this episode's host. Unfortunately, this hour-and-a-half special is not on TH-cam, but I think you can buy a DVD copy online. I hope that helped :)
I stumbled on this totally by accident. I thought this would be about "The Archers", a soap opera on BBC Radio 4 which has been running since 1951! And the title "Running Too Long" misled me here! Great song, though!
Cormac Moore Agree, VERY misleadingly titled, especially since TH-cam linked to this via a page playing a version of "Barwick Green". Though the one in the middle with the comedy hairstyle COULD be Jolene?
Heard the ARCHERS at Murray State University in the fall of 1974. Got to meet Steve and Tim backstage. Nice guys.
Big fan of the Archers!
Saw them live back in the 70s. They were great. I still love their music. Awesome talent, vocals, arrangements and production values.

the archers are good but the musicians really make this song shine. love the bass guitar playing
I had the album this song was on and saw them live in concert twice. Influenced my bass playing a lot
I remember those days!❤
God bless you Tim, Steve and Janice.
The Archers were awesome !

What show is this that Commander LaForge is introducing The Archers?
