- When Bass Fishing, It's Important To Know Your Rights! I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY OR LEGAL EXPERT AND THIS IS NOT INTENDED AS LEGAL ADVICE. Just passing along this State's RCW info.
Know your rights as an angler in Washington State! For the most part, as bass anglers, our interactions with waterfront homeowners are positive. However, we've all experienced the drunk, obnoxious and just down right ill-tempered homeowners insistent upon "owning the water"! Do they?! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Know your rights as an angler! Merely explaining the law to them typically backs them down. NEVER square off, it's just not worth it.
I think there is a provision where in if an organization increases the size and composition of the lake to install a marina that the interior section of the marina can be considered private property. I have not looked it up but I heard that from a tournament organization that set marinas off limits simply to avoid a potential legal issue. I did run into a doc on lake Washington where the home owner setup a sprinkler system on his/her dock that comes on when ever you get within a certain distance of their dock. I was in a dry suite so I was going to fish it anyway but the previous 12 docks did not produce so I skipped it.
@@pmm422 Interesting. There are alot of folks that do the motion sensors to keep geese off their docks since all they seem to do is poop and breed 😆
Love the pvc idea!
I had a guy tell me the fish under his dock were his grand kids pets and I wasn't allowed to fish for them. I then caught a little guy. he got really mad and told me if I kept it he was calling the police. I put it in the live well. he stomped off and went inside. I let the fish go as soon as he was out of sight. cops never showed up. I crack myself up sometimes. This was on samish
Some of the delusions would be pretty entertaining if they weren't so irritating. That's just nuts, call the cops? PLEASE DO! 😄
Hahaha that’s golden 😂 😆
Had this happen to me on lake sammamish, threatened to assault me if I came back and fished his dock... LMAO. I had to of course keep casting at his dock for the next 5 minutes.
Have had a homeowner pull his gun out since we were fishing around his dock. Maybe a slight misdemeanor🤔
Another reason I carry 100% of the time. People are crazy.
People who try to kick people out of their backyard waterfront area are criminals. They should have their docks ripped out if they complain. It is a privilege for them to have a dock.
We have some issues in Thurston county with homeowners roping off their waterfront. Basically creating a swimming area. Always tempted to motor up to it and fish over their ropes.
As long as it's not currently in use, if it's a good spot, I always cast over them. I've always looked at that as 'privatization of a public waterway'. I would be super interested to hear an attorney's perspective on it though. I know some are legal from a beach erosion standpoint, but to just buoy off a big chunk doesn't seem right.
I just get right in there.
