- Here’s our second episode of Cleaning the Chaos inspired by the Flylady Cleaning Method!! This week I did 1 week’s worth of 15 minute daily declutters each day of the week!!! My goal in 2020 was to maintain my rooms in the house! Since we’re all in quarantine, it seems like the perfect time Declutter in the laundry room!!

I'm glad you are tackling it before it gets fully out of hand. This means progress in your thought process.
I remember the hangers from your bedroom declutter I think 😂
I'm glad you have the designated boxes for Goodwill in your basement. It seems to have helped getting the donations a place and save you from having to make a decision, because you already made it.
You are on the right track!
Oh yayyyyyy!!! Yes, step by step I’m getting better!!! Thank you so much my friend, I hope you are healthy & safe during these crazy times!!! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
@@ahoardersheart always remember: every tiny step forward gets you closer to your goal of a decluttered, homey environment. I really hope your anxiety is losing its power over you along the way.
Going to work keeps me busy, although I have to use public transportation, but the train is almost empty and the trams are less full. Grocery shopping is way more stressful, but I like to have some fresh fruit in the house.
Stay healthy, stay busy (at home, with your kids and at work - it is a blessing to have to go to work) and stay positive 🌼🌷🍀
When you said "guess what" I was like bags!!!!
I remember the decluttering of your laundry last year. It’s great you went back in there to keep on top and not let it get out of control. Take care and keep safe.
Awe, thank you so so much my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️ Stay healthy & safe!!!
Re the My Little Pony's: I suggest adding a decor shelf or repurpose one in your bathroom since that's been a bit of a 'power spot' for you (re Marie Kando-style) and display them! No more bags or boxes for them and maybe by being able to see them all the time it will make it easier for you to declutter some of the similar but newer items that you got that are really there to remind you of the originals you already love so much and have stronger attachments/ memories with.
I second This! I was thinking the confessional bathroom shelf!
Awe!!! Thank you so so much my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️ Let me see if I can fit a shelf in the bathroom!!!! I pray you are healthy & safe my friend!!!
Or get a curio cabinet to put somewhere you could really show them off
I remember watching you clean the laundry room for the first time and it's so lovely to see how far you've come, look at you maintaining like a pro!
Yessss!!! I’m definitely getting better!!! Thank you for your sweet encouraging messages ❤️🙏🏻❤️
I'm in shock that there are more storage boxes up in the attic that we didn't even know existed. But I have faith in you that after the basement, you'll get to the attic too. I love that you're using your 15 mins a day to keep up with area you've already done.
Baby steps like they say, it's great motivation and I love seeing you do better for yourself, working through these times with a very positive focus. Stay healthy and safe!
Yeees i m happy everytime i see you post - just because i remember "oh yes she s keeping it up"
Awe!!! Yes, I sure am doing my best!! Lol Never realized just HOW much stuff I had 🤣
"I love when my house pays me a salary to declutter" 😂🤣
❤️😆❤️
My grandma used to leave money for mom (and my aunts?) to find when cleaning weird spots.
Under the baskets on top of the fridge, under a lamp, under the bed...
If you’re able to, I think a glass door hutch in that corner with the black shelving would be so cute for your pony collection (and other sentimental goodies ) and that black shelf could be repurposed In the basement when you organize that area. I plan to do something similar with stuffed animals I can’t get part with. Keep up the great work!! ❤️❤️
My face when you said you also have an attic 😱 lol
YaY for clearing that area back out! I remember that was important to your husband.
Lol! Me too!
Have you got hubby on the decluttering train for garage and his items yet?
Make more of your cute diaper boxes and plane them on that upper wire shelf. Have one where all your donation bags can go, one for returns, one for things that need to go to the basement. That way you can take a boxful at a time to those locations and you have a place to drop items, other than your floor. I love what you're doing and you're doing and amaizing job and a service to others. 👍😊
My grandmother had that flooring in the 70's. It was a nice trip down memory lane. Now I need to get decluttering. Nice job
Great job, this space looks so nice when it is all cleared up and you worked so hard to get there, it's great to get back to it and maintain it! you go girl!
I love your videos! You keep it real and show that progress is amazing! I love when you talked about how even though you'll get a space decluttered it might get messy again and that it's ok and to just start tackling it. Thank you for your light 💗
Wonderful job!!! Loved the appearance! Go girl, you got this. This is what I love about flylady, jump right back in! Eventually once you have decluttered the bulk of your things, you'll get into zone deep cleaning and it'll really help keep on top of each zone one week a month!
You're doing so great! I can easily imagine a day where you've let go of enough you no longer need to use the attic for storage! Sending air-hugs from chilly Wisconsin!
A suggestion. Since candy us something you may loose track if with all of the holidays, maybe get a container or jar and mark a place on it where you feel your family will be able to eat it all (I remember you once said that you guys don't eat that much candy). Once the candy you have collected goes pass that marker then either give it away to people or use it for the next holiday that requires candy. That way it'll limit the candy that goes bad. You can even include a sticker with a date of maybe the oldest candy, although that may just get confusing after a while.
I've started dedicating 10-15 min everyday to tidying. It really helps! I've learned that I can find my socks and shoes everywhere in the house.
OMG! THE ATTIC AND GARAGE, TOO? Oh, honey, bless your heart. You are doing a great job!
🤣🤣🤣 Oh yeah...there’s a lot going on!!!
Looking great! I know how it is to feel stuck and overwhelmed, but your commitment is encouraging.
Wow, that was brilliant. Laundry room looks great. You went through it so quick with just the 15 minutes a day. It really helped that you’d several bags already sorted and have the designated boxes in the basement, that’s a win win. I so look forward to you videos so much and the motivation you give me. We have another three weeks lockdown in Ireland but we are very lucky we live in country side so can get out for walk and the weather is lovely at the moment. Mind yourselves and stay safe. 👏👏👏👍👍👍 Mary.
Ohhhh...to walk on the countryside in Ireland sounds absolutely amazing!!! I’m happy lockdown will be over for you in 3 weeks. Not sure when we will out of quarantine yet over here. Stay healthy & safe my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
They are saying three weeks but to be honest I think it will take way more time than that. I will keep you posted. Yes the country side is great especially when very little traffic on the road.
How quickly you were able to declutter and rest the laundry room is wonderful! Love friend❤️❤️❤️
Everyone else is probably going to say the same thing, but flylady recommends you take things out to the car immediately so you don't forget and wind up with piles by the door.
It's something I need to work on too.
I'm so happy for you that you have reached maintenance mode for some parts of your home.
You're making your dreams come true!
I discovered part of my hoarding problem was because I felt I had an obligation to give away, sell, or recycle any item that left my home. I had to work on my understanding that I could throw things away. As a matter of fact, I had to throw some things away because they became such a burden to my mind. I was so indecisive about what to do with every single little thing in my home and I would become overwhelmed and discouraged so quickly. When you showed the Halloween candy in the laundry room, I had an idea: Before you relocate an item to a place where it does not belong, pause and ask yourself, “What is keeping me from dealing with this now? Why is it overwhelming me to make a decision on this item? “ If you could feel comfortable filming such a situation and walk us through the process, it would really be powerful. I use this strategy on a daily basis and it helps me to step back from an item and see if it is the problem or am I simply depressed, tired, or overwhelmed. Then I say this, “I can do hard things.” Just four words. I repeat them until I don’t need them. Maybe you can create a motto that triggers a chain reaction in your mind and separates you from the situation. It is exercising your brain and changes your thought patterns. You are so important and you are shaping and changing lives. Well done, precious soul.🦄❤️
Great job with keeping up with the laundry room! Looks much better. These short little declutter sessions will really help you maintain all the rooms, especially the ones you're struggling with. I think a habit you should get into is emptying plastic bags that come into the house full of things or from your decluttering sessions. Even just putting the stuff in one bag a day (or every other day or even once a week) away where they belong would be great for you because we all forget or say "i'll get to that later"-- hey, it happens, right? That way you won't have to go through 30 plastic bags in your 15 minute sessions and can focus on all the other stuff that ends up wherever :) Love your cameos-- so proud of you for powering through in these times.
You are so so right!!! I really appreciate your advice!!! Thank you so so much ❤️🙏🏻❤️
You're starting to love it. You do more than 15 cause you want to get it done. You've got places for things. Cheering you on from VA!
I’d like to challenge you to mark out zones with painters tape in front of the shelves and doors as a visual reminder that these are not drop zones. I’ve found the best way to change a habit is to correct your behavior as soon as possible. So if you realize you’ve put something where it doesn’t go, move it right away, Don’t wait until your mess reaches critical mass.
I really like this idea... It reminds me of the yellow squares at work that we can't put stuff in because it blocks important stuff like exits, fire extinguishers and electric boxes..
A great idea! I'm going to take a walk around our house and see if we have some spots that could use visual reminders!
😱🤯 vintage my little ponies ❤️❤️❤️ take the rack that you had in the same pile and put them on display in your bedroom or somewhere you can see them and enjoy them daily. They are AWESOME!!!
December 2023. When I watch an older video, I feel better about my daughter. She's getting rid of big bags of her childhood toys. Tina, Al's wife
That was so funny when you said: " I love when my house pays me a salary to declutter!" 😂😂Another great job. This go round it was so much faster! Great work!
Could you use one/ if not both of the cube storage in the basement to organize things that might not need a huge tub. They just seem like they really have decor on them. It’d make it a little less cluttered & you can still put it to use! Proud of you!!! Looks great!
My advice would be to put the donations in your car now. Just because you can’t drop it off doesn’t mean you can’t get it out of your house.
Thank you for being real! You are not alone in recluttering. But you are making such great progress it will only get easier!! You go girl!!!
You did great job! I was really worried when I saw the laundry room, but you handled it so well. It took me a while, but I have things I tell myself when dealing small items like this. When it's in your hand, can I do something with it now like finish the job or put it away so I don't have to pick it up the second time. Another thing I tell myself is if I can do this job in less than two minutes? If so, I do it. When I am not motivated I put the alarm on 15 minutes and think positively I am 15 min closer to my goal. I have now moved on to 52 minutes of the project and 17 minutes of break. After each task I write it down and at the end of the day I proudly look at what I did. I have been so productive during this confinement, it has been really wonderful even what is going on is a terrible thing. I am just trying to make lemonade when life is giving us lemons. Good luck and can't wait for another video. Also I am a great fan of David Allen's Getting Things Done (nearly 15 years). It makes you think of questions in order to get to your goal. It is quite analytical, but helpful when dealing with emotions like you do.P.S. When you are going to do the garage, could you move the table somewhere else, so it will take you a minute to get to the attic?
It is not as bad as the first time and you saw it earlier. You can be proud and you have done a great job at decluttering again. As for konmari... I think you do it right with going through every room first and then do that method. I am happy flylady does better for you atm. Konmari when you are ready 😘
Flylady declutters are a game-changer! It looks amazing!
I can just imagine how you go through that whole routine of handgestures and balance shifting when you greet and say goodbye to us even when you're holding the camera and we can't see you? I am still not over how gosh darn cute you are!
I am running the daily wash, usually one dark and one white. I just have a laundry nook with shelves with minimum supplies. Back up products are stored on a shelf in garage . I have only a few basic cleaning products that I use. I replaced batteries and filters today, since I have the time now. I Use any cardboard in the garden. I am glad I do not have an attic or basement! It keeps me honest!
Look at you getting so much done!!! Oh I am so proud of you 🎉❤️ It’s prolly a good thing that you do not have a basement or attic, it was more space for me to put things!!! Lol
A Hoarder's Heart TY ! you are always kind! We are all cheering for you.
So glad you haven't let the laundry room get out of hand. You should be so proud of yourself. I'd put the ponies on a display shelf somewhere. Also if their hair is a mess spray mixture of water and conditioner on then brush it.
Hello Ms HH. I’ve been binge watching your videos for the last 5 days and still am only til last September. You are prolific!!!! Lol 😂
With the Rona lockdown. I’m not able to work with my organizing clients and I miss them so. And somehow watching you is like working with my favorite clients. It also gets my brain pinging on organizing ideas and ideas for my clients working through the sentimental things.
You have a new lifetime subscriber and I’ll be sending my clients and their families to your channel. Because most do feel alone and ashamed and your way of explaining your thought process and feelings helps other to understand. Thank you again and maybe I’ll finish your series before day 7!!!
Happy decluttering sweet girl!
Great job! Until you have all of your systems in place, it will continue to fall apart, but become easier and easier as you go! The 15 minute decluttering is such a good system!
I've fallen into that before! Waiting to donate limbo!
For the my little ponies perhaps a floating shelf, a special sentimental box, a clear plastic pocket over the door shoe organizer?
My favorites were the cupcake surprise dolls. ☺️
Thank you my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️ I like the floating shelf idea!!! I hope you are doing well!!!
Stay healthy and safe!
Great work, it must feel so rewarding that it doesn't take that long time to maintain the space. :)
Great job! It looks awesome. Thanks for putting out so much content during quarantine ❤️
Awe, you’re welcome!!! I hope you are healthy & safe my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
The Clipboard, bless you, you have "found" that 3 times now 😂 Make sure you make an area for your office supplies so you can use it, it would be great to use for when you are selling things you could clip your money envelopes etc on it x
Yay well done ❤️ I always love to see your progress & your treasures too. Lovely to see in person.
Wow another space to declutter! another Project on your List that I can look forward to.
I have been using my freetime as well to declutter my home.. I need a landing are for everything that I intend to sell and donate
Great work as always xx
I’m cheering you on as you Declutter your space too!!! Stay healthy & safe my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Thanks for the cameo! I hope you become more comfortable in showing yourself. And continue to get to know you inside then on the outside. :) Great job!
Well done on keeping the clutter at bay. You just need to get into a groove of doing these quick tidy ups. I love your videos. Saw you post this and left a video I was watching to see this one xx
Oh my goodness...you are so sweet!! You’re right, I gotta find my groove and I’ll have rooms in one 15 minute Declutter session!! Thank you ❤️❤️
I'm going to sweep my laundry room. That's about as good as it will get tonight. I decluttered a basement box last night! Yay! You're doing great.
Like you said, this took you only one week / the whole Summer last year. That is really good and i just love how you are so happy about it😍 Every time i see your new video or just an instagram post i am always like "what is gonna be her next progress" and when I see it i am soo happy like you!! 🥰❤️
Awe, your message made my heart so so happy!!! Thank you so so much 💜🦄💜
The laundry room looks great. Your videos are inspiring!
Thank you so so much 💗💗
I love to see you declutter the house. Looking forward for new video. Stay safe 🙏
It makes my day when you upload 😭
wonderful!
Hello from Germany, I know that sometimes it is not so easy to always have everything under control, so never give up, keep cleaning up .... you can do it,good job, greetings and stay healthy
You are doing great!!!
Your video really put a smile on my face. Thank you for bringing happiness into this troubled world. I was thinking maybe putting your "My little Pony's" on a shelf in your bedroom. Can't wait for your next video. Stay Safe 💖💗💖
You should display your childhood ponies. You could put them on a shelf or get a display cabinet. I got the Ikea Detolf. It's their most inexpensive one but maybe a bit too much glass for kids.
Nice job! It is definitely getting easier! Think of ways not to churn the clutter, you are getting rid of so much more. Any update on the bathroom on the other side of the laundry room?
Once you decluttered the basement you can ask hubbie to make a crafting area for you with display shelves all over, maybe you can display your my little ponys on these shelves as well!
Maybe the white wire rack would fit into your kitchen freezer? I remember you wanting a full length shelf in there but had to make do with a two-parter. Love your videos and congratulations on your huge development!
You did great! Be proud of yourself!!
That must feel so good once you finish a section and you can look at the before and after. Great job!
It does feel good when it’s all done!! Thank you so so much 💜🦄💜
PS . wow you got that laundry room back in order very nicely. !!!
The biggest hurtle in decluttering, I think, is to actually start a session. You showed what a big diff 15+ minutes can make. Great job- I'm off to shred- LOL
What helped me was to put stuff directly into the car(front passenger seat,so I didnt forget it in the trunk haha)or by the door you exit so you see it and and are like oh let me grab this bag/box to drop off on my way to whereever.
I also have my collection of my little ponies from the 80s!!! I even have the hair salon!!! Mine are packed in a box, im never giving mine up!!!
I would love my house would pay me too for decluttering 😂😂...but the clean space is already a great reward!! I appreciate your honesty, that even if we (because same here) have cleaned and decluttered a space it is not safe from getting somehow cluttered again. Thank you so much for sharing and sending hugs and blessings your way 🤗
You are reminding me of me with the forgotten bags and the like. Maybe I can try the 15 minutes method.
I wonder if you could move all of the sentimental baby items and stroller in the attic space when you get to organizing them all and then move the items sued more often from the attic to the basement. Then the attic space could almost be a tribute bedroom of sorts.
Do you have anything on top of the cabinet above the dryer? Maybe put the my little ponies up there so you can see then when your stuck in the laundry room folding clothes? ( I still have my little ponies too! Do you remover the babies with the diapers, cribs and they had the nursery building?)
I think I've got one of the baby ponies. It has rainbow hair and a duckling on its hip. I have a vague recollection of a bottle and diaper.
My other pony has a bunch of strawberries on it's back and red hair.
My friends kids play with them occasionally now. (The stick horse from the dollar tree remains the best investment for toys though.)
I miss my little ponies. 💗🐎 feels nostalgic.
Excellent job! This week in FlyLady is the main bathroom and 1 other room...so the laundry room could be your 1 other room this time! Keeping up with it is the way to do it! I would also suggest that you take those Goodwill bags that you found and put them right into the back of your car so they are out of the house. I know GW is not open now but it helps to move it right out. I'm so glad you have your Little Ponies out of that bag! X
Thank you so so much!!! And perfect!! The Laundry Room was my other room!! Lol I’ll clean the main bathroom this week!! Thank you so so much my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Good job. Its getting easier and easier. When all things have a place putting stuff away is not that huge burden anymore. I overcome my hoarding and now I am enjoying cleaning 😂 never thought that I would say that 😂😂 you should display your my little Pony and unicorn collection. I can imagine hangig up some picture rails for that. Sorry I dont know if this is the right english word. 😁💕
Awe!!! Yes, I totally understand!! And I’m so proud that you were once a hoarder and now enjoy cleaning!! Such an inspiration to so many people!!!
Great job! 👍
Great job, before it got worse. I remember my "My Little Pony" collection" I don't have very many left. My Mom gave most of mine away to my niece. Then she gave them to someone else. I wished I still had them, my 4 year old daughter loves hers. Hers are the new ones.
Have you considered using a display cabinet for your childhood items? Btw I love those bottoms you're wearing
Those ponies are so cute, you should put them in a memory bin in your closet 💖
Maybe make an arrangement of the my little ponies take a picture to frame, and let them go? Just a suggestion, but I do understand if that freaks you out. I have my daughter’s cheer outfit that’s was expensive. I tried selling it, but nobody wants it. I’m gonna goodwill it.
Maybe as a long term goal you can try and get as much storage all located in your basement. Try to empty the attic since it is more of a challenge to access. Understandably some items will be better off in the attic but try to take advantage of that amazing basement and then you can put away and access things so much easier.
Also to save items from potential water damage if you can get pallets to put under your tubs and such that would help. My old house had a basement that leaked sometimes and everything we could was raised a few inches off the floor.
Great job u did great congratulations
I really love the old my little ponies
❤️🦄🌈✨
You might try making specific "staging areas' for donation or "take to work." I rely on staging areas to keep clutter from creeping!
Once you get the basement gone through, I think you should take down everything from the crawlspace into the basement.
I am confident that you will have plenty of space down there when you have gone through everything (for the first time).
Since Goodwill is closed I would simply take photos of the items (like an entire bag / box in one photo) and post them on FB market place or in Freecycle for FREE. I would avoid bringing all that stuff down to your basement to donate later. And good job on keeping things going girl! XOXO
Ooo, you have an attic! You can totally make it easier to access later on when you and hubby work on the garage (a lot of it is his items if I'm remembering correctly?), but that can wait until after the basement in case you decide some of it would be better down there once it's organized and decluttered! It'd be cool if you could fit a car in there by time you're completely finished decluttering your home! We only got a quick glance, but is it a 2-car garage? 🤔 There would probably be plenty of room for (organized) storage in addition to a car, or maybe you'll find enough storage and/or enough to purge elsewhere for TWO cars (my mom was ecstatic when we finally moved random items out of the way so she could store multiple vehicles out of the snow a few winters ago). Glad to see these maintenance videos going up! New habits don't replace old ones overnight! You're doing great! Looking forward to the next part of the basement, or the next kitchen video to use those wire shelves ;)
When you find items like the wire shelves for the kitchen floating around, I find it's best to make use of them right away- maybe during one of your 15min sessions you can use them somewhere in your kitchen and during a KonMarie you can move them to wherever you think they work better, unless you really like where they were initially put. The lamps in your bedroom waiting to have something done with them, do what you want with them ASAP so they're not just sitting on your floor or put them in a crafting/decor area to go through later with other similar things so that they will actually be used (or parted with) when you go through that category.
Regarding the cameo, the audio was either really well balanced this time or I didn't notice the difference as much since you didn't go back and forth between behind and in front of camera as much this time. 10/10 love seeing you chat face-to-face with us, especially since you seem confident and happy to do so, and I hope you feel like chatting with us in this way is helpful or just plain nice for you. 💜💜💜
uhm, when you have things like the My little pony. maybe store them in a labeled box with lid. that way you can stack the boxes , Bags just are making it a challenge . i know some think "use it or loose it". BUT you really enjoy your belongings. so until you have an idea of how to display these things, labeled boxes will ease the organizational struggle until you are ready to use these things.
Just keep swimming just keep swimming
Keep it up! A little at a time!
Hey, you should get your husband to make you a shadow box with glass in front to keep them clean and dust free and then hang it on the wall 🦄💗🦄💗🦄
Great job!!!
You should do a vegetable, fruit, herbs garden in your backyard🤗🤗🤗🤗.
Make some more deco boxes for white shelf
Oh I see!!! Thank you so so much 💜🦄💜
Oooooh! An attic!
Would the ponies fit in the shadow box thing? You could display them in that. Maybe too small.
Also I could actually remember the smell of the ponies when you showed them. So strange.
That makes perfect sense actually!!! I remember someone showing a Strawberry Shortcake doll and I remembered the smell right away!! I wish the ponies would fit in that shadow box but it is too small! I hope you stay healthy & safe my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Why you don't collect in one of the empty bins with all your sensitive stuff from childhood and save it in your bedroom for now and later on make something on the wall for a display
Ohhhh...that’s a wonderful idea!!! Thank you so so much for sharing that with me 💜🦄💜
Nice to see you, and well done. ☆
Thank you my friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
the little pony can to the attic. When you have a craft space you can put there a i don't now how you call it in english but a closet from glas to put you presccious things in there. I think you can do that in you basement. When the air is better there. or something like that. what you makes your happy. Takes what is really important in you living space and display it good. you did this so good and fast you are healing and habbits are a good thing and some time we struggle with it and we most keeping working at it. it is al about the progress.
Ohhhhh...yes I understand!!! A pretty glass cabinet to put the My Little Ponies in!!! I absolutely love that idea!!! Thank you so so much 💜🦄💜
@@ahoardersheart you are welcome. I am glad that you now what I meaning. Stay healthy mine friend you doing it so good keep on going. Big hug
I think those bins for good will, sharing table, little gifts, etc. should be a permanent fixture in your garage, eventually, so you can see them on the way to your car. Long term goal, right?
